FLYing through March: Fledglings Assemble

SilveryMoon · 28/02/2013 20:10

Welcome to the March Fledgling FLYers thread

... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on.

Thanks to SC and Blue for leading us through January and February and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted .

Let's get the old dust balls rolling for March!

I can post links and attempt a round up if you like?

Shock and Envy at all the fledglings off out tonight. Don't forget to slug some water before bed to stave off the hangovers!

SilveryMoon · 09/03/2013 12:28

Thanks did that would be grand.
Hope all those off out or collapsing with aglass have a great time. We all deserve some down time

I was thinking of offering to do April as well. Perhaps it should be a joint effort. I imagine that would run smoothly and be trouble free...

SilveryMoon · 09/03/2013 14:21

Is March not running smoothly? Ish Wink

Envy I want to go on a drunken night out. Its been over a year now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/03/2013 15:32

It's running perfectly well Silvery. We have had occasions in the past when it hasn't done

NickNacks · 09/03/2013 18:53

Have we had some name changes? Could someone PM me if I'm allowed to know because I'm confused Confused

I hope you all enjoy your evenings out, not jealous at all

Does anyone still keep in touch with PA ? Would love to know how she is getting on.

I hope your little boy has a lovely party PMPY I too remember when he was born. I think it was one of the first months I joined. :)

Dull day here. DH is working a late shift so just me and the DC snuggled up with trashy Tv on.

Signed up another mindee this week to start NEXT YEAR! I am sooo full that I've even filled the spaces that my current mindees will create when they leave for school. Get me! apologies for the shameless boasting I'm so utterly proud of myself for actually building up my childminding into a proper business to contribute to our family.

Tomorrow DH has to work a late shift again so with the morning taken up with visits to our own mothers, plus a visit to a family member for birthday, I don't think I'll get much of a mothers day :( Not even a lie in because DD will still wake at 7am and DH needs to sleep in.

However I hope you all get spoilt rotten and definitely no FLYing!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/03/2013 19:09

Nick - our twice namechanger is someone who has form for it. PA is fine, her DH has a blog which I follow, I can PM you if you are interested.

pushmepullyou · 09/03/2013 19:20

Oh yes, it's running very smoothly silvery absolutely no criticism of March intended Smile. I was mildly taking the piss out of myself and DEM who have both been known to be a bit haphazard in our thread leading Grin

NickNacks · 09/03/2013 19:24

Thank you! I guessed the first one but didn't cotton on the second time!

pushmepullyou · 09/03/2013 19:47

All toddlers dispatched to their respective homes. Apart from my own obviously! The house looks like a bomb's hit it and I am knackered!

Congratulations Nicknack -that's very impressive. It's so hard to build a business up from scratch. You must be very proud of yourself Smile

Right 10 minutes of sitting quietly then bath and bed. Then to tackle the chaos with a big Wine

Hello, good evening and welcome to the chaos. Unexpected evening out BlushGrin

So first things first linkies:

Being sunday it is renew your spirit day. Do a pamper mission. Enjoy mothers day for those who are celebrating.

No missions because it is the weekend!!!!!!

And the babystep is: the power of 15mins

Some of you like the sneak peek to get ahead although with it being mother's day i reserve the right to think you are crazy

DidEinsteinsMum · 10/03/2013 00:57

So roundup:
silvery had a nice evening
feet has an established business Grin well done!
Whoknows has been explaining stuff to other fledglings in a very clear manner
nettie rejoined us and gave us an excuse to blame her for any snow that should fall
Pmpy survive ds' party and associated toddlers
Lilleth was jealous of all the night outs/drinking
cuddle nah heard far worse tails of cookers not being cleaned and more exciting ones of how to blow them up. Slattern you are not. Wink ignores own oven which she has no idea when was last cleaned or if it has ever been cleaned

mrsbugsywugsy · 10/03/2013 04:05

ellesabe · 10/03/2013 08:53

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

No flying allowed in this house today Grin

pushmepullyou · 10/03/2013 09:12

Happy Mother's Day everyone Smile

Lots of flying required here I'm afraid. Still have a fair amount of party tidying to do so I'm going to be forced to post a list I'm afraid!

To do
Change our bed
Washing x 3
Hoover living room (why why why did the party poppers not say on the packet that they were filled with tiny metallic ninja death stars?)
Clean kitchen
Dishwasher x lots
Go to tip
Dye hair
All bins out

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/03/2013 09:35

Morning all,

Nice start to Mother's Day when DS appeared by my bed with a bunch of flowers and a handmade card. I hoped DH might get up and make me a cup of tea but he rolled over and went back to sleep so I have made my own tea, just as well I am not a great advocate of Mother's Day. I sent my mum an email (Dparents are gadding around South America at the moment) and she'd forgotten all about it.

Lots of Flying needed here today too, didn't get much done yesterday due to unexpected plumbing/eye events. I have instructed the DCs to strip their beds and wash the sheets, they are a bit behind on their job lists this week. They also have massive piles of clean clothes to put away, I asked DH to make sure they did it before bed last night but he forgot, I also have to put back the entire contents of the airing cupboard that was cleared out for the plumber.

Got to go and take DD to ballet in a minute, back later.

superfluouscurves · 10/03/2013 09:59

Neeeigggghhhhh

Just trotting through to wave a hoof and wish everyone a happy mother's day (different date over here!).

Back to Flying properly tomorrow ....

BlueEyeshadow · 10/03/2013 16:25

Not having a great Mothering Sunday here. Just feeling really down and lots of shouting and awkwardness. :(

DH cooked a great roast dinner though. :)

Hope everyone else is having a better day!
