February Fledglings FLYing High

Welcome to the February Fledgling FLYers thread

... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of Wine and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on.

Thanks to SC for leading us through January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted Grin.

So come along in and park your dusters ready for Feb!

Hi NickNacks Don't worry about it!
I've fallen off FLY threads numerous times because I got so embarrassed about not being able to keep up or come on everyday and didn't have time to read all posts and do personals, then inevitably, I stopped FLYing.
Just pop in and out as you can, no pressure.
How's it going?

X posts!

It's going really well actually silvery. Work is so busy at the moment that I've had to grab it while I can. I love it and the money helps :)

So with my new wealth I've hired a cleaner. In theory this meant I was supposed to crack on with the decluttering but that is not quite the way it's gone...

How are you silvery? Thanks for taking over next month, and well done on the mission before work! :)

I'm ok. Had a tough week at work, so a bit knackered. Got up late today so no mission this morning. And haven't done much FLYing tonight.

Breakthrough in the Silvery house though. Dp has started ticking off on my lists/control journal what he's done (like feed cats, wash up etc) so pleased. Saves me time walking around checking if he;s done things.

Ooh Im knackered today. Had a good day though. Thank you Toffee for helping me decide Im ok not working as long as I am doing what I am (ie courses to improve my CV while still looking for work). I dont feel as guilty now.

Also had a good morning meeting up with two MNers.

Also went for a run this aft - well I say run, I walked quite a bit of it so I have decided perhaps I need to find time for a walk too during my week, that way I can concentrate my runs on actually running and not just enjoying the peace and quiet of the country while looking at the views. Plus its exercise without really exercising IYSWIM.

Evening all.

Have spent far too long on the computer today and need to get to bed, so will just dump the links and run I'm afraid.

Babystep 28 is about taking good care of yourself.

Mission is to put away coats and shoes etc.

Waves to NickNacks.
Glad the meeting went well Toffee and good luck for the guitar lesson.
Hope you're not coming down with something Bitchy.

Night night...

Thank you got the lovely welcome back everyone!

Wide awake at this ridiculous hour due to dd wetting the bed...

She's 2 so I'm just impressed it wakes her up. I still have a 6 yr old in pull ups who, if he leaks, will not even stir!

Be back later! :)

I have an 8yr like that Nicknacks. Boys are tricky creatures. When I get the washing machine back he will be losing the pull ups because his dad reports that he will be dry there but his dad limits drinks is very controlling

Need more sleep. didn't fall asleep as early as had hoped. CBA is kicking in again.

Morning all

To do
All the stuff I didn't do yesterday.

On a plus note, DD loved Woodcraft Folk, however was incredibly overexcited, so had a battle getting her to bed. Once she was in, she was asleep in 10 mins Grin

AND just checked my emails and I've won a Belvoir Farms goodie bag. GrinGrinGrin

Good morning - nearly Friday!
Attempting to make progress (albeit slowly!) But I'm happy that today's mission looks like an easily do-able one!

Welldone on winning Going it's SO nice to win something- what a lovely prize!!!

And so tonight, apart from coats clearing, I will endeavour to bag up my charity shop stuff (mostly baby bits/toys, so am wracked with irrational sentimentality, but I know I've got to do it - soft lass!)

Hope you all have a productive and happy day x

Goth - glad your DD enjoyed the Woodcraft Folk. And congrats on winning something!

DS1 has just had his first guitar lesson. He was so nervous beforehand, but he really enjoyed it. The teacher seems really kind and patient and is just the right person to teach DS1. Am looking forward to hearing guitar music and singing in the house soon...

MIL dropped round for tea as well this morning and kindly did all my washing up, as well as paying for the guitar lesson. What a star.

Am way behind with the washing, but also need to catch up with home ed before the school run. Am not even going to check today's mission.

Hope you are all having a good day.

I fell asleep again. And woke to find that someone in the house had done the rest of the laundry bar 1 load Shock. This never normally happens so was a bit of a surprise. And admittedly i now have a huge pile of laundry waiting to be folded and ironed waiting for me on the dining room table but it was a nice surprise. Still feeling crappy despite the sleep tbh. Trip to the docs time i think.

It can't be the end of February!

I think it's finally over! No poo or vomit today, though the house looks like a bomb has hit it.

But on the bright side the washing machine has been going none stop for the past week so we're up to date Grin

I know I should catch up on thread, go and do washing up, empty bin, tidy toys....but I think I will wait for a shiny new month instead!

Afternoon all

Lilleth The competition was a 'share & like' on FB, via Naked bodycare. I don't normally do that type of thing on FB, but I really love elderflower cordial Grin I keep trying on MN (would love some JL vouchers) but no luck yet.

Toffee yes Woodcraft was great, I really enjoyed it too, it was nice being included in the games. Been a LONG time since I ran up and down a church hall! And such a bargain £10 a term for subs.

Engels I think keeping on top of the washing after D&V is an achievement in itself. Fingers crossed that's the end of it.
