Get a man in. I did and wished I'd done it sooner, oven was like new.

Varya · 01/01/2013 21:06

Steam cleaner?

monkeyfacegrace · 01/01/2013 21:06

OVEN PRIDE!!

Arisbottle · 01/01/2013 21:07

Oven pride.

5madthings · 01/01/2013 21:08

Oven pride or pay someone. In my house oven cleaning is dp's job.

ReinDearPrudence · 01/01/2013 21:09

Oven pride.

Mrsrudolphduvall · 01/01/2013 21:10

Get man in.

Purplemonster · 01/01/2013 21:11

Buy a new one? Quicker!
Biological wash powder left to soak over night works well, the enzymes break down the grease. Soak the shelves over night in the bath with it in water and make a sort of paste out of it for any other bits like doors. Usually works for me.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2013 21:12

Get man in.

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 01/01/2013 21:15

I'd love to get mine cleaned but I'd be ashamed its so disgusting.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 01/01/2013 21:16

Move house?
Failing that oven pride works well.

BaconAndAvocado · 01/01/2013 21:38

Am definitely considering getting man in but because I live in a small town the potential embarrassment factor is huge!

Any ideas on an excuse I could use as to why my oven is so gross? (Other than I'm a lazy cow)

BTW what's the going rate for having oven cleaned professionally?

Yes, Oven Pride - thanks!

Get man in.

Bubblegum78 · 01/01/2013 21:39

I have tried oven pride.... doesn't work.

Get a man in, costs approx £50 depending on the size of your oven. x

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/01/2013 21:40

Get a Man In. About £60 for sparkling new oven.

MushroomSoup · 01/01/2013 22:31

Oven pride ROCKS!

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2013 22:36

The man will take all the bits out to his van and magic them clean with whatever he has in there. He takes the oven door off completely.

BaconAndAvocado · 01/01/2013 22:45

So if I don't decide to get a man in, what's the best way to clean an oven door, remembering the disgustingly dirty part.......?

OP posts:
saggybaps · 01/01/2013 22:49

Def get a man in. The have seen it all & worse! Best money I ever spent. Found him in Check a trade. Oven came up like new after being trashed with Mr Muscle.

Jinsei · 01/01/2013 22:49

Ahem...just marking place.

I am also too ashamed of the state of my oven to get a man in. Blush Does Oven Pride really work on layers and layers of dirt?

secretly admires OP for cleaning oven once a year

BaconAndAvocado · 01/01/2013 22:51

jinsel that may have been a slight exaggeration.....I really am shite non?

OP posts:
Jinsei · 01/01/2013 22:51

OP, how about cleaning it a bit and then getting a man in?

BaconAndAvocado · 01/01/2013 22:54

jinsel that is a brilliant idea and then I can also allay some of the guilt of paying someone else to do my job!

DH has just snorted at idea of getting a man in so it would have to be undercover.

OP posts:
breatheslowly · 01/01/2013 22:54

When we got a man in, he suggested I have him clean the oven every 6 months. I am obviously not going to do that, but could you just imply to your neighbours that this is what you do to reach some higher level of cleanliness that they can only dream of? Therefore saving face.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2013 22:56

But I can't see how you think your oven would be too dirty for the oven man but are expecting to get it clean yourself?? He is the oven man. that's what he does. He doesn't clean clean ovens. Grin
