Disorganised Procrastinators sign in here........

I procrastinate.......about everything (see, I'm doing it now - DH is out with the DD's and I could be in the shower, putting the washing mountain away or filing the paperwork, but I'm not, I'm on here starting this thread).

My house is full of junk, nothing has a place, I have a to do list a mile long and nothing ever gets done until the last minute because I am so disorganised, often meaning that I lose opportunities, money etc.

A lot has happened this year - I went back to work after maternity, my job has changed due to my boss retiring and now has more responsibility, my eldest has started school and in a moment of madness I have managed to volunteer to get the school PTFA set up properly and charity registered and myself elected as secretary.

Things HAVE to change and soon otherwise the precariously balanced house of cards that is my life will collapse with disastrous consequences for mine and my families lives.

So, I know that new years resolutions usually don't last much past 5th January, and getting myself organised is a resolution I have made many a year past and failed to keep, but this time I am determined.

I am hoping that by getting things down here, you lovely lot can help to keep me on track and maybe if others are as bad at being organised and procrastinating as I am we can help each other.

So come on .....if you mumsnet when you should be folding the washing, are depressed at the mountain of paperwork you need to get filed, want a lovely organised home and to feel on top of things or just feel generally disorganised and want to do something about it etc etc..... sign in here and let's get 2013 off to a positive, organised and energetic start........

Grin at piglet. Hope your head isn't too poorly Imperial and Beyond I think you are doing really well!

Me, I've just got up, have put a load of washing on and am trying to work up the motivation to give the DC their breakfast. So far this morning they have been surviving on a tub of haribo and left over selection boxes BlushGrin

May I join you please?

I am the queen of procrastination. This is the year I finally organise myself once and for all hopefully

My house is a tip and it's really getting me down - but not enough for me to actually sort it out, obviously!
I have lists coming out of my ears in an attempt to organise my life but it has been slowly dawning on me that this is just another way of putting off actually doing stuff :)

Thanks to dingaling for linking to that old thread - that was a great thread, full of tips and I've been meaning to revisit it for ages (oh, the irony!)

Haha, Jingle, so am I but the day is yet young! Grin

Have just had shower and washed my hair, dd is making good progress on her room and I'm going to load the washing machine as soon as I am dry!

Then I'm going to recycle the cards and put aside the ones with address changes to update my spreadsheet later. (Yes! I have a spreadsheet, the sole product of last year's attempt to get organised! Grin). After that, I'm going to do the coffee table and sitting room before finally moving on to the kitchen. DD has a friend coming at 2pm so I'd like to be done by then if possible so that I can MN in peace so that I can tackle a few more jobs while they play.

I've done quite well so far! Here's my list:

Clear coffee table
Tidy sitting room (well, as much as I can do - some of it is DH's junk)
Recycle Christmas cards and update any address changes
Clean kitchen sink & hob
Wipe kitchen surfaces
Wash bathroom mats
Get dd to tidy her room

Feeling quite smug! Grin and inspired to tackle another project this afternoon Shock

Feeling about a zillion times better now though :)

For those of us without Smart phones - ie no access to apps - is there an internet equivalent? I'd love to be able to adapt and print off a daily/weekly/monthly housework list. TIA

What is on everyone's list today?

I am, as usual procrastinating instead of doing what I am supposed to be doing which is paperwork for DH (bank reconciling is SOOOO boring). I have taken the DD's to my mom's this morning, so that I could specifically do the paperwork. I got back at 11am and have put a load of washing out to dry, a load in the dryer and a new load in the machine.

I then sat down for 10 minutes to have a quick MN and coffee and am still here an hour later Xmas Blush. I really must be getting on.......

On the brightside, I have over the last couple of days, completely tidied, dusted and hoovered all three bedrooms and am managing to keep them tidy (so far), took down and the deccies (and put them in the loft), ploughed through the majority of the washing pile and sorted the gazillion bags of crap that were littering the hallway.

Right...onwards and upwards - reconciling here I come and if you see me on here before this evening, send me packing Grin

Dilly you seem to have got a lot done really.

On my list for today was to stay of MN and not kill the DC. Well at least I've managed one but only justGrin

Yep, you got loads done yesterday Dilly - well done!

I have changed my name to reflect my aim for this month - the project for this month is all about home filing. I have been out today and bought some new plastic boxes with suspension files to start a new home filing system.

Today I've also taken down the Christmas decorations and bought and built a new book case for DS's bedroom. Back to work tomorrow, so that's me until the weekend when my list will include setting up my daily/weekly/monthly lists on the priorities app, finish re-organising DS's room to accommodate Christmas presents and hopefully make an actual start on the home filing.

doglover Priorities app users can manage their tasks online at my-priorities.com, I've not been on the web page yet, but worth a look to see if you could use that?

How's everyone done today? Is the lack of posts a good thing? Has everyone managed to stay off Mn for a bit and get a little done?

Haven't managed much today but at least I seem to be keeping on top of things in the communal areas. Just need to start tackling the bedrooms.....

I'm so in! I'm usually pretty good, but first ds had his birthday party in beginning December. That over I switched to Christmas. The week before Christmas Ds gets sick, so you know how That goes: shuffling to the doctor, trying to keep up with the house. Then you also know how it ends up: I end up getting sick a few days before Christmas. Eek!

Dh and ds try to help. They do a little laundry. They do a few dishes. Everything gets put in the wrong place. They tried. But I want everyone back in school NOW! It's at the point now, where I almost give up!

I got up with DD2 at 9 to find that DP has cleared and cleaned every kitchen surface and sorted out the cupboards - all with toddler DD in tow - thus making me look like a complete slattern*

May I join in if its not too late?

This thread sums me up completely :)

But today I've actually done something... Suprised myself lol

I've done dishes.

Tumble drying.

Folded clothes/put clothes on hangers and into wardrobe

Tidied bed (but I'm laying on it again and messed it up)
Cleared coffee table, sprayed and wiped it, arranged cup mats and put a scented candle on it.

Picked bits up off from floor. (Hoovers broken)

Tidied my little bedside table and nicely arranged some of my beauty stuff on it.

Tidied cats bed.

Erm.. Think that's it. Shattered now.
DH better notice my effort when he gets in, must admit he does quite a bit of tidying himself and can normally be relied upon to do the dishes :)

I've bathed ds and fed him, but not sure if that counts ;)

We live in a small flat, we need an awful lot done to it.
We chuck so much away but its still never enough.
I'm currently 6 months pregnant, so I'm hoping nesting kicks in soon... I'm desperatly relying upon my nesting instincts to kick in so I can get this place sorted.

Think its time to sit down and watch some big fat gypsy weddings with a cuppa coffee, whilst doing a bit of mumsnet.... May put more tumble drying in like a good homemaker :) hehe
