If poo got into your duplo box what would you do?

As the title suggests, some poo got into the duplo box (DH's fault). I've wiped the poo off where I could see it, but would like to a more thorough clean.

Should I:

a) put it in a laundry bag and then in the washing machine with a towel

b) put it in a laundry bag and then in the dishwasher or

c) chuck it in a vat of milton (which I'm worried about leaving any bits of sterilised poo that I've missed still on the duplo)

Surely I'm not the only one who's had a poo situation in the duplo box! What's the standard solution?

I would wash scrub, the lot by hand and then soak in a mild bleach soloution to be honest.....

A or B, both good.

Bath, shower attachment, liberal spray with dettol/Milton. Repeat.

I recall our cat bought a rat in the house when we were younger. The rat ran all through the duplo & my mum had to do a mass clean.

I wouldn't put it in a machine, in case any bits escape and jam an important part.

I'd go for the soak in Milton approach.

Did your dh poo in the duplo box?

I'd blast it with some Milton and the shower head then drain it, inspect the damage and maybe dishwasher it after

I'd love to know how poo being in the duplo box is your husband's fault

I am pretty sure that once you clean it, sterilise it and inspect it, it will be poo free. I wouldn't put it in the washing machine unless it is fabric, it won't do either machine or box much good at all.

Oh dear. I have just realised that it is the duplo you are worried about and not the box

It's not DH's poo It's DS's. DH was changing his nappy and somehow, between the two of them, poo got into the duplo. It's plastic duplo.

slarty DS's poo is pretty noxious, but not toxic to my knowledge.

We had to go away for a couple of weeks before I had a chance to deal with it. I'm a bit afraid to open the lid now. The milton option seems popular. Maybe I can open the box a crack, pour in the milton and run before I gag?

i use a tooth brush to scrub dog poo off shoes.

you could put duplo into the cutlery drawer of the dishwasher? it isnt that small is it to get lost in machine?

I might just wait till MIL has gone first. Don't fancy explaining that one to her!

It's been in there for two weeks with the lid on? Petrol, naked flame, exorcism in that order.

Fill the bath with water and sterilising solution and give it all a good soak.

Empty the box into the bath, spray with the shower head and washing up liquid, drain the water away and then shallow water with some Milton or disinfectant for a bit and rinse.

Wouldn't worry too much, DS ate some of his poo the other week.

I would do the milton option, then put the pieces in a colander in the bottom shelf of the dishwasher, just to make sure there are no cling-ons.

Put the duplo into a large laundry bag ( mesh one ) that closes securely .

Shove it in washing machine with bio washing liquid /powder .

Enzymes in it will kill off any germs .

If your unsure about it them Milton in bath afterwards .

If its been festering for 2 weeks , I'd chuck Milton in box first ,leave it overnight then washing machine ...don't do infront of mil .

It's known fact that children of mils never even poo their baby- nappies , never mind in their toys . Your dh ( like mine ) will have been born potty trained , talking ,walking and performing arithmetic .

Washing machine. You don't want poo in the dishwasher . If you want to be extra germ phobic clean, use milton instead of washing liquid

Put it in a pillow case/duvet cover and run it through the washer with some napisan in (the stuff you use to sanitise cloth nappies, Tesco sells it). Works like a charm

Sorry I would have to chuck it.

Wait a day or two until it dries.
Put on rubber gloves and remove any obvious lumps of poo.
Put duplo in cutlery rack or inside open tupperware box in dishwasher.
If no dishwasher, bath-shower head, cleaning solution detailed by someone else.

If it really has been in there for two weeks () I'd bin it, tbh.
Some things are beyond saving. Btw, if you knew about it, why did you go on holiday and leave it?????

Couldn't you have chucked it into a bucket of disinfectant before you went?

Doesn't the whole house stink of poo?

I would chuck it btw.

PS I can't believe people would put anything poo-related in the dishwasher!
