Morning all. I got off to a good start today by really sitting down to organise myself, make comprehensive to-do list for both work and home (I had loads of random bits or paper with different lists on that needed consolidating) and setting up a concertina file for personal paperwork that is still "pending" in some way, rather than leaving it all lying around. I now feel really organised so have celebrated by spending the last hour procrastinating! Blush

Scout19075 · 06/09/2012 13:02

Took Toddler to swimming. It was a long, hard work home of every third step it was in the stroller and every fourth step out again. ARGH! I only took it because I thought he'd be tired after swimming (and he's only about 90% instead of the usual 100%/happy-chappy that runs). He was VERY excited to be back in the pool (and had been begging for swimming all week).

CatsInChaos · 06/09/2012 13:39

Headache gone now, and DD is o.k.
I have cleaned some windows and got 1 load of washing on the line.

Scout glad TSenjoyed swimming. Walking with a toddler can take a while can't it.

arti Glad you are doing well today.Smile

How's everyone else?

bessie26 · 06/09/2012 15:49

Glad DD is ok cats

scout it usually takes me 15min to walk to the Drs - last time I walked with DD1 it took us 45mins! I swear we must have looked to see if there was a ladybird in every single garden on the way!

arti - your concertina filing system might be just what I need to try to stop the beside-the-front-door hotspot expanding any more!

We have put 2 more coats of paint on the walls. When we cleared away the dustsheets we realised that the carpet is a bit pinker than we realised & may have to go DH is painting the radiator now & I have collapsed on the bed - I am exhausted! I wanted us to pop out & look for curtains, but I don't think we will get chance before we have to pick the girls up from nursery.

Scout19075 · 06/09/2012 16:12

It took 15 minutes to walk two houses and cross the street. ARGH.

Scout19075 · 06/09/2012 17:06

Toddler is COVERED in paint. He's had a whale of a time.

CatsInChaos · 06/09/2012 19:09

Scout I hope toddler is o.k. What kind of paint was it?

Would someone be kind enough to temporarily take over the thread?
We have had a family bereavement (not an immediate relative) but still someone who I have known all my life. He was elderly so it was kind of not a big shock, still sad Sad though.
I'm not quite sure that I am thinking clearly.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear your sad news cats Sad - I'm sure that someone will manage to do the linkies - I would volunteer to do it every day, but I'm off on holiday next week & then back to work so won't get time to join in the thread as much.

Is anyone any good at interior design? I've posted a pic of my lovely green living room on my profile - any suggestions for colours/ideas for curtains/carpets would be welcomed. We're thinking maybe dark grey-ish or dark-red curtains & a light grey-ish carpet (with perhaps a colourful rug) - does that sound awful? (I can handle the truth!)

carrotsandcelery · 06/09/2012 23:15

Oh Cats Sad I am very sorry to hear of your loss. ((((hugs))))

I am not very reliable on the popping in and links just now. I will be in everyday eventually though. Why don't we make it the first person who gets to it each day for now?

bessie I am off to look at your profile. My instincts make me want to suggest something leafy but I haven't looked yet.

carrotsandcelery · 06/09/2012 23:19

Back again! What a fab room bessie. I would def be inclined to choose something fresh like cream or beige background with tones of green leaf on them.

I think the green is too yellowy for red myself. I do think the grey sounds good but I would do grey with greens and would make it quite a pale grey.

Our living room is a similar green with a very pale beige carpet. Our sofa and curtains are dark green. I find it too much solid colour and really wish my curtains had a pattern to lift and lighten it.

carrotsandcelery · 06/09/2012 23:24

Oh, oh, oh!

Would dark chocolate brown go with the green bessie?

I am not generally a brown fan but I think it might work here.

carrotsandcelery · 06/09/2012 23:25

is this too subtle for you?

carrotsandcelery · 06/09/2012 23:25

this is with a green sofa

bessie26 · 06/09/2012 23:45

thanks for looking carrots! I am thinking the same as you - I think with walls that bright, you need something quite plain-ish coloured, but with a green pattern in to link in to the walls.

I did suggest chocolate brown (I once had a green & brown bikini which I LOVED because & it always reminded me of mint aeros ), but DH poo-pooed it! - when I google "living room ideas, green", loads suggest a chocolate brown, but DH is not so keen, although he said a more "earthy" brown like this sofa (which I think is grey) would be ok.

He liked the colour of this sofa, but although I would be happy to have a rug in that colour, I think curtains like that would be OTT! I was hoping to drag him around Next /the Range to look at curtains today, but ran out of time so will have to wait until we get back from hols. The other annoyance is that because of it being a bay window we can't do the easy tab-top curtains & will probably end up having to get made to measure ones

AdoraBell · 07/09/2012 01:14

Sorry for your loss cats

CatsInChaos · 07/09/2012 18:27

Thanks for your kind words. I am o.k. Think it was a bit of a shock although we new he was ill for some time. My head was in a muddle yesterday but I feel a little better today.

How is everyone else?

I'm gonna check out today's babystep in a mo as I haven't looked at Flylady yet today.

CatsInChaos · 07/09/2012 18:33

Have you washed it yet cats? How long has she had to wear a uniform for nursery? I bet she must look very cute in it?! Grin

I'm not sure if I'm pleased or not that DD1 doesn't have to wear one for her pre-school - it would (possibly) save us having the endless discussions on what she is going to wear (I make my fly-baby pick her clothes out the night before, but she often changes her mind in the morning ), but perhaps it would cause even more arguments!

carrotsandcelery · 07/09/2012 23:20

I am glad you are feeling better Cats.

I have been on the go all day. I am shattered but it has been a good day.

bessie Next have curtains a bit like the sofa you linked to. I love them. They would be pretty full on though - lively rather than sanctuary in atmosphere. We have a bay as well which is why I am stuck with our plain dark green boring curtains. They are in great condition and cost a bomb so I have to live with the boredom.

AdoraBell · 07/09/2012 23:55

Cats glad you're feeling better.

I've had another day running round doing errands. Started off with some me time (coffee with a friend), then had to go back to the capital to change a dress, get tights, look for tri-colour hair accessories (nice lady at the haberdasher's is making something for me -very cheap) quick bite the eat followed by a quick coffee with OH, then more running around after collecting DDs & a friend.

Other than that I've done my usual morning routine, vacuumed all round and S&S'd the bathrooms. Dinner will be easy tonight, I bought pizzas. Need to prep eggy bread for breakfast tomorrow and try to sort out the dog's ear. Teddy Bear clearly has something irritating his left ear. The person who should have been viewing the house tomorrow has gone travelling, so I didn't bother doing the deep clean things. I will do it, but not this evening.

My friend told me she had a fire in her house, put the heater on before going out and forgot to take the decorative candles off the top of it. When she got home she smelt smoke and opend the lounge door, which provided a nice big burst of oxygen and instead of vacating she tackled the fire herselfShock, because she couldn't face the thought of her "D"H shouting about his house having burnt down - double Shock I'm speechless.

CatsInChaos · 08/09/2012 08:07

Shock about your friends fire! Was she and the house alright?

My back is giving me trouble this morning.

I was too tired --couldn't be bothered-- last night to do the washing. I will have to do it today.
bessie The uniform at DD's nursery isn't compulsory but everyone seems to send their DC in uniform so I just wanted DD to "fit in"

The kids are attacking each other this morning Sad. DS is on the wind up and DD bites every time. Hmm

Shock at adora's friend! My SILs house recently caught fire - she & the baby got out ok, then she thought she would just pop back in to get the laptop... Thankfully she got out again a few mins before the roof collapsed in.

I am so tired today that I just had to check I had actually taken my thyroid meds this morning! No idea why, but I did have a mad morning. Swimming lesson with DD2 at 830, then rushed back home to arrange an out of hours dr thing as she had gunk oozing out of her ear. Then leg wax, then sat for an hour waiting to see the dr (yet another ear infection Sad) then get prescription, then lunch. Finally got to sit down quietly with a Brew around 2pm by letting DD1 play on the iPad!

I need to print my control journal out again as DD1 & DH thought it would be hilarious to put ticks all over it

bessie26 · 08/09/2012 20:03

My back aches too cats - does stretching help yours? I'm going to have a soak in the bath & then do some stretching and drink some Wine Grin
