I love all the new name options for TS. My ds is called "WeeMan" very naturally by the majority of the family and he is 7. I suspect he will be "WeeMan" even if he is a 6'4" 40 year old man! Shock

carrotsandcelery · 04/09/2012 21:45

I think you can't consciously name them bessie. Names just happen over the natural course of things. My parents call me "Sunshine" and "Chicken" and no one can remember why. The chicken is affectionate not a reference to being a coward btw.

My dbro was occasionally still "WeeMan" until ds came along - although there were protests by then - he was 35 or 36. He has other nicknames too but they would well and truly out me as they are widely used and distinctive.

Scout19075 · 04/09/2012 21:46

I like BoyScout since that's what they are in the US Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts so I giggle whenever I see it. But Toddler is still a little boy or a small boy so SmallBoyScout seems to make the most sense to me.

He really grew up on holiday -- he seemed to physically grow but there were leaps and bounds in his vocabularly, sentence structure, thought process and confidence (though he's always been fairly confident). So really I should stop calling him Toddler because he doesn't behave like a toddler any more (bar the occasional tantrum) but I'm just not ready to give up the name!

Scout19075 · 04/09/2012 21:48

MrScout and I are the only ones that call Toddler "Small Boy." Everyone else uses one of the three variations of his name (including his proper Christian name). MiL calls us all various terms of affection like "Ducks" and "sweetheart."

carrotsandcelery · 04/09/2012 23:34

I knew I was getting on a bit when my dMIL switched from calling me "flower" to calling me "hen". Shock

CatsInChaos · 05/09/2012 06:47

Morning all, Smile
babystep 5

I have a busy day lined up today so might not get on here much.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Toddler was up most of the night with this stupid cold that I blame his cousins for. He seems chirpy enough but I can see the "I'm so tired" look in his eyes and movements. We're meant to be going to the playground with a friend but I've given her the option to cancel if she doesn't want to expose her two to germ-ridden Toddler (though her two seem to have had it last week). I think a bit of fresh air will do TS good, though, so will go out at some point.

carrotsandcelery · 05/09/2012 11:53

Morning everyone! Sorry to hear about your bad nights and joyfuls mobility. I hope the day improves for you all.

Ta Das:
washed and dressed
fed dcs porridge for breakfast
got dcs to school
fed two ponies and put them out for a few hours
got guinea pigs onto the grass
hoovered
tidied up kitchen a bit
cleaned worktops
cleaned vanity in bathroom
went to weekly market in village
cleaned out veg drawer in fridge
made chilli - now in slow cooker
roasting apples for apple crumble as I type
put a wash on

To Dos:
fold and put away dry washing
Hang washing and decide if there is room for another load
declutter kitchen table - MUST be done as it is driving me mad
after school madness of ponies, music lessons, kids haircuts etc
finish crumble - making it - not eating it - although I might do that too Grin

Scout19075 · 05/09/2012 14:28

We went to the playground this morning. Came home for lunch and TS is asleep on my lap. He's stuffed up and wheezy. I'm tempted to lay him in bed for a proper rest but I love holding a sleeping Toddler.

CamperWidow · 05/09/2012 14:45

Howdy doodee all!!!!

My two have variations on their names; Lollipop/Lolliboo/Lols and Muddles/Maloo, but they also get sweetheart/darling/pet/oi you/doodle-bop/noodle

Ta das;
Up and dressed - all 3
beds made
breakfasted - all 3
shiny sink
wm on
washing out to dry
new 'Wendy Club' visited! Run at the local school, it's like a pre pre-school!
both girls down for sleep
kitchen cupboard doors wiped
kitchen floor wiped over
swipe and shine in the bathroom
Beaver e-mails sent
Beaver plan for September typed up

To do;
hoover at some point
what's for tea
go and see if we can find any elderberries this afternoon

I'm sure there's more stuff I need to do, but am taking it chilled and relaxed at the mo, no need to add stress where there ain't none!!!

We ate round the table last night for the first time since Muddles came along! I had slowly been de-cluttering the table and yesterday our playdate wanted to do some painitng so the table had to be completly cleared and so I just put everything else away!!! It was soooo nice! Would have been better if Muddles hadn't gone 'ping' (as in past it, like ping, the microwave's done!) as we then had to scrabble a bit but it was lovely.

Had a big clear out of Lols toys too. We have a big wooden chest in Muddles room so I put Lols toys that are too young for her but too old for Muddles in and tidied up what was still downstairs. Scout I know what you mean about birthdays! I can't believe Lollipop will be three on Monday! Scary stuff, especially as Muddles will be one next month too!!! Shock

Scout19075 · 05/09/2012 15:32

Toddler napped for about 15 minutes. I bet if I tried to put him into bed he'd still be asleep. I hope those 15 minutes didn't ruin bedtime. He looks so tired and unwell. Sad I'm considering not going to the first swimming class of term tomorrow if he still looks/sounds like this in the morning. Though, to be fair, Toddler was fine this morning and at the playground. It's since lunch that he seems to be struggling a bit.

We still did "S is for snail" today and made a snail out of foam (using the letter S as the main shape). Toddler seems to like it.

carrotsandcelery · 05/09/2012 16:11

Hello again!

Sorry to hear TS is struggling Scout.

Dd came out of school in tears - she got into trouble for chatting at school. She hasn't really been in trouble much (I can only think of one incident which was last year and totally out of character). I spoke to her teacher and she is obviously starting out with a sharp shock tactic to get them in order. It has certainly shocked dd. I am right behind the teacher though. [evil mum] Grin

AdoraBell · 05/09/2012 19:10

My not so little anymore little ones are either Cherubs or Munchkins.

Other than my normal routine I've been out all day running errands. Just seen Dr re my recent check-up and he said I'm perfect. So it's official nowGrin , of course being a cardiologist he was only interested in 1 muscle, but I'm still very pleased with the verdict.

Still to do

Collect DD1 from school
Another couple of errands
Collect DD2 from school
Dinner, OH has instructions to defrost fish - if he forgets we'll be having rice n veg.
Prep tomorrow's packed lunches
Navigate BUPA's website to get claim forms
Walk dogs, Dr's ordersWink

Scout19075 · 05/09/2012 21:11

I am tired.

CamperWidow · 05/09/2012 21:17

Go to bed then! Grin

bessie26 · 05/09/2012 21:47

I am in bed blogging & drinking Wine Grin - as we are on holiday, DH decided we were allowed to drink all week!

We got the woodwork painted & the first coat of paint on the living room walls today - a couple more coats tomorrow & we should be done. Just need to find new curtains to match (suggestions welcomed!)

Scout19075 · 05/09/2012 22:18

I've just done the washing up. I'll do the pan in the morning when I can face it. Still need to pack up for swimming, just in case.

carrotsandcelery · 05/09/2012 23:43

I love the paint colour bessie. What colour is the furniture in the room? That would also influence my curtain colour/pattern choice.

I am getting jumpy about dh putting things on the newly unearthed kitchen table. He has been warned. Ds's homework is on it and I will tolerate that but dh sorts his paperwork into piles and just leaves it. I think he has got the hint though Wink

I was hoping dh would do the dw tonight but he hasn't [boo emoticon] I really can't face it now so I will have a stinky morning making a packed lunch with a pile of dirty dishes around me. Hmm

AdoraBell · 06/09/2012 02:24

Carrots hope DD got over her upset, teachers are rotten aren't they?Wink last year one of mine got a written warning for speaking during a test. The teacher was very apologetic as she's normally such a goody two shoes model pupil, but he had to do things properly.

Well, dinner has been eaten, two dogs walked, Pirate and Teddy Bear. They have become a little chubby since the puppies arrived, too many biscuits because it turns out all four of us have been giving them treats instead of just me or OH. Shopping has been brought in but not sorted, at least the non-perishables are yet to be sorted. DW will go on when I've had my half a brownie. The costumes I bought are small which means I have to drive all the way back on Friday to change them. Tomorrow will be a full on cleaning day so that I can just whip round on Friday and have the house nice for the weekend. Bathrooms were S&S'd but need a proper clean.

Forgot to say, DDs are also at times called, depending what's happening Horrid Children, Cheeky Monkey, Mad Scientist and their particular favourite - savage! That's in addition to the usual, darling, honey, sweetie pie type references. When I am particularly tired DD2 gets called by OH's name, which always gets a laughBlush

babystep 6

I am gradually getting the hang of this one but I still have a few piles of stuff that need sorting. It is a never ending problem as far as I can see.

All went well yesterday! Smile

Glad you like thecolour carrots! It looked great before I went to bed last night, hopefully it will still look at good in the daylight today! the carpet & sofa are both a kind of creamy-beige colour. We don't want to replace either as they will just get trashed by the kids (DD1 has just discovered the joys of drawing on the furniture Angry) The current curtains are red, so they are going to have to go!

I'm also hoping I get chance to do some serious decluttering today as it's my last day at home without the DC.

bessie26 · 06/09/2012 07:59

Hotspots are defo never-ending cats I am trying to keep mine down to two downstairs - one in the kitchen & one by the front door. Anything that gets left elsewhere gets moved to one of those places. It might mean that I have a tower of crap by the front door (carrots, I put all DH's abandonded paperworkinto a box there!), but at least it's just in one place!

CatsInChaos · 06/09/2012 09:17

I started the day feeling like this Grin and in the space of 2 hours DD has reduced me to feeling like thisSad.
She was walking at slower than snails pace on the school run and also fell over and put her teeth through her top lip. Poor little dot! Sad My nerves are shattered and I have a head ache.
Her lip seems to be fine now but bled a little when it happened.
