Fledgling Flyers Olympic August thread.

BitchyDragons · 31/07/2012 04:01

Ok so not the wittiest of titles but this month we have the Olympics, holidays, return of football season and heading into the new school year. It's going to be a busy one...

Firstly thanks to Blue and Ellie who kept us on track last month! Thanks

Right, most of you should know how this works. It's a three pronged attack.
Phase one: The babysteps master these and you will be working like clockwork.
Phase two: Adding in Decluttering this will help you keep on top of the amount of stuff contributing to CHAOS.
Phase three: Missions Targeted activities to keep the chaos at bay and starting the deep cleaning.

The golden duster of Flying is stage 4: deep cleaning. This is for most, unrealistic and should only be considered once you have completely decluttered. PA might achieve this simply by virtue of some extreme life decluttering. Although I probably won't recommend her method.

Now for those of you who are completely lost, lets rewind a bit.
CHAOS: Can't have anyone over syndrome. Yep you know that state where you are embarrassed to have play dates fucking hate that phrase or people pop in unexpectedly.
The fly lady approach works by breaking the house down into tiny activities which you do repeatedly yep sounds bad written like that but bare with me and then build up into a routine that becomes habit and you stop thinking about it no really, you do.

Clearer? Yeah ok. I have probably lost you but there is loads of support and help on this thread. If you are confused then ask. However, as this thread starts on the 1st on August I refuse to post the first babystep until later today.

This thread comes with a warning: For those of you who have not yet encountered my leadership of the thread. Be afraid, very afraid aware that I have a rather unorthodox approach and that things can get a tad unpredictable. Starting with a namechange. So who?s on board this month?

Oh and spot markers can help themselves to a magic eraser and ensure there are no marks on the thread for the start of the month. Let?s start as we mean to go on

Eurgh, need crisis list, catch up laters, procrastinating...

  • find timer
  • 15 mins living room
  • clear stairs
  • another 15 mins living room
  • 15 mins kitchen
  • snack for kids and coffee
Iburntthecakes · 29/08/2012 15:01

Hi Lady, virtually complete novice here too - I managed a couple of weeks prior to DD's birth which helped make some space for the baby!

I'm waiting til Sept to start properly though am wondering if I'll even have time to do babysteps.

My current ta da list today
Change nappy
Feed baby
Entertain baby
Facilitate nap for baby
Comfort grizzly baby

Repeat repeat repeat...

Catch up on MN
Breakfast and lunch but only thanks to DP

ah well.

IWipeArses · 29/08/2012 15:09

That timer is magic I tell ye! Done about 45 mins straight through in the living room, it looks hugely better! Grin DD needs boob though, so sitting down time. Smile

IWipeArses · 29/08/2012 16:16

Cakes, my ta das look like that and DD will be one in October. Blush

Right, redo the to do -

  • put water on
  • snack time
  • kitchen until children are bored
  • put dinner on
  • play
  • dinner + pots
  • lay out tomorrows clothes
  • bath and bed
  • finish kitchen - I mean it!
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/08/2012 19:41

Ta da!

Most of the home blessing, kitchen alone took about 45 mins as I decided to wipe the entire surfaces, rather than just the bits on show, rearrange some stuff in cupboards, give the sink a good shine as it had been neglected.

House is looking a lot tidier than it was this time yesterday, so that's something. Just need to get the DCs off upstairs in a minute.

Back later to catch up on everyone else

IWipeArses · 29/08/2012 21:16

HaHA! I've done all the washing up. Grin (Doesn't happen often enough Blush)
Forgot to lay our clothes out for the morning, but we've nowhere to be yet, so no worries. Smile

Ooh, you've done well too WhoKnows. Smile

Iburntthecakes · 29/08/2012 22:36

Well, going by today I dont need to lay out clothes for tomorrow as I didn't manage to get dressed. Let alone dressed with shoes.

However:

Baby asleep Grin

BlueEyeshadow · 29/08/2012 22:50

That's the best ta da ever, cakes! Grin

I've had a pretty productive day and crossed off the whole list apart from routine planning. Need a family meeting about that so everyone's on board...

Tomorrow's to do list:
See if bro wants any of the books from our parents
Remaining books to charity shop
DS1 to party
School shoes (aargh!)
Aldi shop
Filing/tidy desk

Big waves to all. Good night!

BitchyDragons · 30/08/2012 00:12

Well today didn't go to plan. Someone else had an accident at the place we went for ds' treat. Both me and ds decided we couldn't face staying so left early. A shame as ds was having a really lovely time before that.

I think I managed my to do list which was nice.

Anyone have any feelings about September? Thread leader? etc?

yep is nearly the end of the month. We have had many newbies, some returnies and a lot of chatting along the way. We are a complete mixture people and schedules But you lot rock in the encouragement stakes!

Thursday is chore day! - Library books to return? need to pop to the shops to get something? get it done today.

Morning all

Sorry to hear about DS's treat bitchy

Bit jealous of you ta da cakes mine (although he is more of a toddler now) has been up since 430 the little sod

Paid work today plus packing for holiday and a mini house bleurgh so it's nice to come back to. Although there doesn't seem much point with the builders being here tbh!

I'd be happy to lead for the bits of September I'm here if we don't have any takers but I'm away next week so couldn't cover it all. Plus I am a bit haphazard!

pushmepullyou · 30/08/2012 07:07

Oh, I also need to do the following

Pay builders first installment
Pay nanny
Apply for loan for rest of building work
Buy and print advance tickets for Peppa Pig world
Print off directions to holiday cottage and not leave them at work
Buy wine

pushmepullyou · 30/08/2012 07:08

Also either find my cash card or report it lost!

laurenamium · 30/08/2012 07:49

Morning all! September is going to be really hectic with 4 new mindees starting next week but I'm happy to lead in October?

Just a list dump for now!
To do:
DD and mindees to library
Home bleugh mams BlushBlush
Routines at mine
New mindee settling in hour and contract signing round 2!
Paperwork- bring mindee folder to mams
Walk dogs- 1 done 1 to go
Clean bathroom at mine

BBL!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2012 08:13

I'm definitely around next week so I could start the new thread and keep going till either I go into hospital or PMPY is ready to take over, I should get a couple of weeks notice for my op.

feetheart · 30/08/2012 11:50

Staggers in rather blearily after staying up to watch the entire opening ceremony and sob quite a bit Will get the chance to watch a lot of it again and sob some more later as DC were packed off to bed after Team GB came in. That was 11pm so I predict tired grumpiness at some point today Shock

I did get some stuff done yesterday but most of it was non-Flying related. Have nice photos of DC beside a gold postbox though :)
Today needs to be a bit better:

  • Work - done some
  • All breakfasted and dressed - getting there Blush
  • Morning routine
  • Hoover stairs and our bedroom
  • Try to rescue living room
  • Swimming in new pool later
  • Watch LOTS of sport :)
ChitchatAtHome · 30/08/2012 12:26

Hi all

Evening routine? Ha ha ha ha ha ha.. . Not a snow flakes chance in hell at the moment.

Evening and morning went completely out the window due to boiler breaking down. Fortunately an easy fix for the technician (who installed it only a year ago) who didn't charge me when I booked him for a service. Smile

Got the utility room and kitchen quickly tidied up, but the rest of the house not so good (really embarrassing when he has to go in and bleed all the radiators Blush!)

Finished my paid work, and now need to rush the boys out of the house for a catch up that was almost cancelled, but fortunately only needed to be delayed.

BlueEyeshadow · 30/08/2012 12:50

Wish me luck - we're about to go shoe shopping in the holidays. Sob!!

NickNacks · 30/08/2012 12:53

Blue we went yesterday and it was surprisingly fine! Good luck.

BitchyDragons · 30/08/2012 16:03

Today I am having a 'rest' day. Lungs are suffering. Thanks to all who are volunteering for September. Will let you sort it out. I am likely to be going awol at some point. Need an mn break. Have lost the wish to be on mn atm. The craziness has finally got to me. I will be about and might lurk but going to try to ensure that the computer spends more time off then on for sept.

To do:
move
finish off several WIP craft projects.
Book tickets for tomo's adventures.
look for quilting pins
Think up new passwords for EVERYTHING

Ta da:
send important emails
think very clearly about what want to do with life
Look at nest weeks schedule and panic a little bit.

random fact - Did you know that this thread marked the 3rd year anniversary of the Fledglings? Shock ignores more shocking fact that she has been here since the middle of the first thread and there is still chaos here

Hi guys

I'm back from holidays (well was back a few days ago but had to do real life for a few days.)

Hope nothing major has happened whilst I was away and that everything is ticking along nicely. I am on my own this evening so when DD has gone to bed will try and log back on and catch up with a Brew

NickNacks · 30/08/2012 18:51

:)

I'm not an original but been here about a year and a half.

Wine
BitchyDragons · 30/08/2012 19:05

There are a lot of long term (more then a couple of months) regulars though nicknacks I was just surprised at how many of us from the original early fledgling threads there are still about. And horrified at how bad the state of my house still is. Blush
