Fledgling Flyers Olympic August thread.

Ok so not the wittiest of titles but this month we have the Olympics, holidays, return of football season and heading into the new school year. It's going to be a busy one...

Firstly thanks to Blue and Ellie who kept us on track last month! Thanks

Right, most of you should know how this works. It's a three pronged attack.
Phase one: The babysteps master these and you will be working like clockwork.
Phase two: Adding in Decluttering this will help you keep on top of the amount of stuff contributing to CHAOS.
Phase three: Missions Targeted activities to keep the chaos at bay and starting the deep cleaning.

The golden duster of Flying is stage 4: deep cleaning. This is for most, unrealistic and should only be considered once you have completely decluttered. PA might achieve this simply by virtue of some extreme life decluttering. Although I probably won't recommend her method.

Now for those of you who are completely lost, lets rewind a bit.
CHAOS: Can't have anyone over syndrome. Yep you know that state where you are embarrassed to have play dates fucking hate that phrase or people pop in unexpectedly.
The fly lady approach works by breaking the house down into tiny activities which you do repeatedly yep sounds bad written like that but bare with me and then build up into a routine that becomes habit and you stop thinking about it no really, you do.

Clearer? Yeah ok. I have probably lost you but there is loads of support and help on this thread. If you are confused then ask. However, as this thread starts on the 1st on August I refuse to post the first babystep until later today.

This thread comes with a warning: For those of you who have not yet encountered my leadership of the thread. Be afraid, very afraid aware that I have a rather unorthodox approach and that things can get a tad unpredictable. Starting with a namechange. So who?s on board this month?

Oh and spot markers can help themselves to a magic eraser and ensure there are no marks on the thread for the start of the month. Let?s start as we mean to go on

Morning all!

Have another hug just

A maid sounds like a fantastic idea pa!

Well first night at my mums went dreadfully! DD refused to go to sleep, hysterically crying and making herself sick every time I put her down- even if I stayed in the room, the dogs ate my tea (I forgot they aren't as well trained as mine around food) and the curtains fell down Sad on the plus side though the house is nowhere near as unclean as I thought!

To do:
Walk dogs twice
Clean 3 bathrooms
Try not to murder the dogs!
empty, clean and refill dishwasher
sweep floors

BBL!

pushmepullyou · 25/08/2012 09:06

Morning all Smile

Lovely to 'see' you PA. I think that getting a maid sounds like a very sensible plan. It's such a big transition to move continents

Quick list dump -

To do
Find gym kit
Go to gym
Clear out Attic of Doom!

pushmepullyou · 25/08/2012 09:10

castlelough · 25/08/2012 14:09

Lauren Come clean mine please! Grin You are going to be a skinny minnie with all the extra dog walking! I noticed on MFP that you are still dropping the pounds - wish I could muster up some of your motivation (for cleaning and weight-loss!) Well done!

Cherrypi · 25/08/2012 17:57

BitchyDragons · 25/08/2012 17:58

Cherrrypi- stop the emails and come join the thread. This lot are a friendly bunch and are incredibly knowledgeable.

Wondering if I might join you? Am I right in thinking you start a new thread each month? I'm thinking of a september start. I managed about 2 weeks of flylady last month then DD was born Grin. Funnily enough have abandoned doing anything much in august except cluster feeding. However I feel it is nearly time and I did discover DP shining the sink again yesterday.

pushmepullyou · 25/08/2012 22:11

Hi cherry and cakes Smile. You are both very welcome! Yes we have a new thread each months and take it in vague 'turns' to host each month, although tbf I don't think I've managed it since February last year Blush.

Ta da
Gym
About a third of the 'Attic Of Doom'. Yey!

Jamillalliamilli · 25/08/2012 22:48

Bumbled along today, but did stand up to someone who really needed standing up to, so while not on a list, an improvement. :)

Hi Cherry and Cakes. :)

Castle thanks, I'll be ok, just need time and resources to get there.

Lauren thanks, good that mum?s house turns out not to be unbearable, hope today was easier for you.

PA you should definitely get help in if you can afford it. It may feel odd to you to do it, but I bet the income from the job would be deeply appreciated by someone.

Bitchy; Christmas plans? Impressed.

PMPY well done with ?the attic of doom? excavation. :)

castlelough · 26/08/2012 00:06

Nite everyone!
I managed some of the things on my list so I'm deciding to be content with that. Sadly, the cat Hmm was the only keen taker for my banana bread, though I discovered it tastes quite nice toasted with butter melting on it... Grin
Welcome to Cherry and Cakes !
Bitchy I am also impressed with your list - are you sure you weren't born organised?! My mum has been asking about our Christmas plans and I really don't want to broach the subject with dh because I know he won't want to go to my parents house (he will be working late in the pub Christmas eve, and siblings coming home from abroad for Christmas too,

castlelough · 26/08/2012 00:09

whoops ..... plus dMil was in hospital for Christmas last year. Oh dear, Christmas is making me feel stressed already Sad ...

Hope everyone will be renewing their spirits tomorrow and taking it a bit easier .... do you hear me Bitchy ???!

BitchyDragons · 26/08/2012 01:26

Renewing spirit here will be focused on getting my room to a point where it doesn't affecting my breathing. Which will involve moving a lot of furniture. Tidying and cleaning.

I can do organising but can't keep tidy or stay organised. Plus ds is Aspie and OCD. Having things organised is essential to keeping him coping with life. Now if I could get keeping tidy sorted I would be truely dangerous.

Christmas was easy to sort. Ds is at his dad's. Folks on holiday. Christmas celebration with whole family on another date then 25th Dec. Not really rocket science. As for the 25th I plan to sleep and ignore it. Other details can be fleshed out later. Simples.

No missions
Sunday is renew your spirit day.

Morning all!

Christmas talk Grin I started writing lists last night! All very exciting!

Yesterday wasn't too bad, managed to cross off everything on my list and DD was in bed by 9- admittedly 2 hours after bed time but at least I got an hour to myself before I went to bed!

To do:
Clean mums kitchen
Clean oven
Clean washing machine
Clean microwave
Wash kitchen and bathroom floors
Walk dogs at least twice. 3 sprinters and a pointer = hard work!

laurenamium · 26/08/2012 08:04

Springers*

BitchyDragons · 26/08/2012 10:23

Right I have drunk enough coffee to consider doing what needs to be done. First things first move 3 bookcases and a table and then I have 2 wardrobes to empty and move.

Have a good day all!

OP posts:
BlueEyeshadow · 26/08/2012 10:49

Morning all.

Quite a productive day yesterday but woke up in the night with the beginnings of a cold. Bleugh. DS1 is going to a birthday party shortly and has been jumping around shouting "party, party!" since at least 2 hours ago... Woke up too late to defrost the chicken so it's sausages today! Now just trying to decide which way the big black cloud is moving and whether or not to put the washing out.

On the plus side, have lost 2.8lb this week!

Brew anyone?

laurenamium · 26/08/2012 10:59

Wow well done with the body clutter blue!

Good luck with that furniture moving bitchy it sounds like a big job!

I've finished my list apart from I need to dog walk again later. I don't know what to do with my day! Confused

Iburntthecakes · 26/08/2012 14:09

So is a Ta Da list a list of things accomplished? If so that's a list I can only dream of Bitchy. All by lunchtime too.

BitchyDragons · 26/08/2012 14:24

It is a done list Cakes I am lucky as ds is old enough to occupy himself and is happy so spent all day infront of tv with a mountain of lego whilst I get stuff done. Also until i get this house completely spring cleaned my asthma isn't going to get any better. And I am fed up of the asthma and it hurting to breathe already.

Top Tip: Don't compare your ta da to anyone else's. Everyone's circumstances is different. And Everything you do is a ta da in itself. Everything little thing will build up towards the final picture.

Also I can't manage the babysteps. No matter how I try I can't get them integrated into my life atm. So I am working on the decluttering. And as many of the baysteps as I can manage. Am finding that the more I declutter the easier it is to integrate the babysteps. But this house has gone from something that looked like one of those horders programs to something that resembles a house in the last year. It is major progress but has been hard to get to this state. The problem of having 2 house's worth of stuff in one house. Storage is an issue.

OP posts:
Iburntthecakes · 26/08/2012 15:28

Sympathies with the asthma.

Decluttering is going to be an urgent issue for me too. We keep moving junk from room to room at present.

However I feel I have a window of opportunity at present as no one expects a tidy house currently due to the baby. I can therefore have visitors without worrying. If I can start to pick up some habits gradually then perhaps I can get my life fractionally more organised by the time my maternity leave finishes. :)

Ta Da
Worked out DD is fooled by bouncy chair and stays asleep thinking she's still on me Grin I may therefore have time for sink shining
