I'm tidying round the house today (DH, 3x DDs and 1 DS plus pets!) and I'm tutting away at the stupid but very annoying things they keep bloody doing ...
DH always puts dirty laundry on top of the laundry bin lid. Drives me bloody crazy! What drives you mad in the battle against tidy houses?

Dirty socks in the lounge.
Stuff placed at the bottom of the stairs never making it to the top unless I do it.
Toothpastey sink

MushroomSoup · 05/05/2012 16:35

OMG you too??!! I have all of that.
Tea stained coasters being put back in the drawer.

Svrider · 05/05/2012 16:35

Wet towels on the bed
On my side
FFS

GrossePopel · 05/05/2012 16:45

Another DH here incapable of lifting the laundry bin lid! Angry

SuePurblybilt · 05/05/2012 16:48

I am fascinated by the drawer for coasters. Do you put them back in there between cups of tea?
I don't have coasters so I don't know Grin

bronze · 05/05/2012 16:50

Laundry on lid

Washing up that I will load the dishwasher with kn the sink getting wet so its a drippy when I move it

SkivingAgain · 05/05/2012 16:51

All of the above except the coasters cups, plates and glasses left in bedrooms, recycling left on worktop by back door, dishes on worktop above the dishwasher, empty shower gel/shampoo bottles left in shower cubicle, piles of clean, ironed clothes left on stairs/bedroom floor instead of being put away......i could go on and on ......

ElectricSoftParade · 05/05/2012 16:51

DH is incapable of closing wardrobe doors or drawers. We've been together for 15 years and I still haven't broken him got him to do this.

Small thing really but it really makes me froth!

Rezolution · 05/05/2012 16:52

Toothpastey sink
Sts /tampons left in bedroom bin to go smelly

Butwhatdoyoudoallday · 05/05/2012 16:53

Moving the tea towels to the furthest possible point from the kitchen sink. Surely the wet stuff will be by the sink, therefore it is sensible to keep the towels there. Drives me insane.

MushroomSoup · 05/05/2012 16:53

I have a drawer in the kitchen next to the table with placemats and coasters. Kids job to set the table for meals, wipe them after the meals and clear the table!

Louboo2245 · 05/05/2012 16:57

Both my DH and DS leave their plates on the side above the dishwasher, they never actually make it into the dish washer. Drives me potty.

signet2012 · 05/05/2012 16:58

Never putting the toilet roll on the holder and leaving empty rolls above the bin Angry

I however leave lids off everything I touch which drives him Angry too !!

SuePurblybilt · 05/05/2012 16:58

Oh I see, I was thinking in your sitting room. I geddit now Smile

IWantMyHatBack · 05/05/2012 16:58

Oh good.. another 'men are shit' thread.

insancerre · 05/05/2012 17:00

Not replacing the loo roll but resting it on top of the bloody holder. Drives me mad.

Dropdeadfred · 05/05/2012 17:05

When the kitchen is empty and clean and someone eats a bowl of creak, washes the bowl and spoon and leaves them on the draining board!!! Why???!!! It takes about 10 secs more to dry them and put them away!! You are ruining my tidy kitchen aargh!!!

Dropdeadfred · 05/05/2012 17:06

Iwantmyhatback - I have 3 dds. My comment was just as much about them as my dh. Not a men are shit thread at all

Follyfoot · 05/05/2012 17:08

Dh is mostly tidier than me but when he has a shave he gets all the bits of stubble up the tiles behind the sink like a revolting tide mark...

startail · 05/05/2012 17:17

Yep,
laundry not in basket
Wet towels on bed or floor
Dirty dishes anywhere except the dishwasher
Yoghurt pots, crisp packets etc. not in bin
Clean washing not put away
Shoes and socks left scattered
Empty bottles left in bathroom
Toothpaste on sink and shelf
Toilet rolls not replaced
Table mats "wiped" i.e. left sticky
Coats, school bags and PE kit randomly distributed, some how it's my fault if these items can't be found or PE kit hasn't been washed.

And now DD2 is shouting at the football, one horror I thought girls protected me from.

bronze · 05/05/2012 17:19

I'm pretty sure the tampons comment wasn't about men either

MushroomSoup · 05/05/2012 17:30

Iwantmyhatback the thread is entitled 'what do THEY do' not 'what does HE do'. We're not all man haters on MN!
I love the bones of DH even when he leaves his MANKY socks on the lid of the laundry bin.

OP posts:
IWantMyHatBack · 05/05/2012 18:50

No, I know what the thread's called.. perhaps there should have been a Wink in my post.

I've just seen a lot of threads like this and they usually just turn into a rant-fest about how crap men are. (fair enough, the majority of posters here are women so it's understandable that any whinging about partners will be directed towards men)

sorry for stomping on your thread though.

In our house I'm the lazy one Grin

MushroomSoup · 05/05/2012 18:59

Stomping forgiven, iwantmyhatback - but what drives YOU mad?!

OP posts:
IWantMyHatBack · 05/05/2012 19:28

People moving things. I'd ive left a letter out because I need to make a phone call relating to it, don't put it in the bloody filing cabinet because I've been distracted by DS for 2 mins.

Also - if you want to know if we have any chilling sauce/mayonnaise then get off yer arse and check the fridge yourself, don't look at me blankly and hope I'll do it :)
