Morning everyone! Well, a rude awakening this morning - came downstairs to find cat vomit on the kitchen floor I actually thought it was poo so had to interrupt DH"s lie-in (we have one lie-in each at the weekend) as I can't deal with cat poo while pregnant. The cat had his jabs yesterday and was tapewormed - I'm wondering if there's a connection but he's five now and never had a reaction like that before Hmm

Right - so today is Chuck Out That Shit day in the Longtalljosie household. Somehow we have to make enough loft/ storage space for an extra family member! DH is a major hoarder so it might be painful. Wish me luck!

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 07:52

Good luck josie. I am aware that I haven't done a really good declutter this week. I have done little piles on the table etc but try to do a deep declutter somewhere more often.

Make sure you have plenty of Brew in and chocolate and a takeaway menu so you CAN be too exhausted to cook. Better still get taken out for tea so there are no dishes either Grin

Longtalljosie · 05/05/2012 07:54

I have chucked lots out this week - but because I've been doing that rather than surface / hotspots clearing the place looks messier, not tidier! Oh well...

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 07:56

I see that as cleaning from the bottom up though. In the long run I assume things will be easier to keep tidy. Wink

bessie26 · 05/05/2012 08:32

It's chuck it out day here too. DH has loads of stuff to go to the tip. But first he wants to go to a local town to look at shoes(!) which I'm hoping means we get to go to the veggie restaurant there

Longtalljosie · 05/05/2012 09:09

Quite right carrots Wink

Bessie - good luck with your chuck out day too - we'll compare notes this evening!

liveinazoo · 05/05/2012 13:43

OP posts:
Longtalljosie · 05/05/2012 21:21

Well, we took so much stuff to the charity shop the woman thought I was clearing someone else's house! But there's still tons in the loft... still a lot done.

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 21:25

Well done josie. It sounds like a lot more empty space has been created.

I wonder how bessie is getting on.

Ta Das:

Taxied the family around for a few hours.
Slapped transfer tattoos on children for a few hours
Made tea (well bunged it in the oven) Blush
Hung around at the stables
Made a bracelet for my friend's birthday

bessie26 · 05/05/2012 21:56

Big Fail here on the clearing out. We spent this morning going to a shoe shop & watching DH buy 2 pairs of shoes. This afternoon, he decided he needed a nap as he is out playing in the band tonight so will be really late home (and struggles to sleep when he does get back)

We're going out with friends tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping he'll do it tomorrow afternoon.

Must do

  • get washed & dressed (Babystep 2)
  • check calendar & list
  • what's for lunch
  • stretch
  • S&S upstairs
  • S&S downstairs
  • accompany DH on shoe shopping exposition
  • make lunch DH did it
  • what's for tea
  • make tea
  • bath & bed DDs (DH out)
  • tried & failed to persuede DD1 to wee on the f*&^($g toilet
  • tidy up from tea
  • shine sink (Babystep 1)
  • clean hob
  • Shred (level 2, hopes camper is impressed)
  • bath
  • declutter the rest of last night's wine
  • meal plan
  • don't listen to the negative voices (Babystep 5)
  • drink more wine as a reward when meal plan complete

Might do

  • look at the fly lady site (babystep 3)
  • Update Control Journal (BabyStep 4)
  • be in bed before 10:30 - even at the weekend??

House Blessing

  • all done

Zone Work

  • 15min declutter dining room

Missions

  • Friday - check for dust & cobwebs in the dining room
carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 21:59

bessie I may be imagining it but I seem to remember there were things available to put in the loo that changed colour when the dcs wee'd in it.

Might that help?

I will see if I can find them. It could have been a dream. Confused

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 22:16

colour change tablets

bessie the reviews are contradictory and I don't know about their eco credentials.

I am wondering if food colouring would do the job. Add blue and the yellow wee will make green etc (sorry, but it might help Grin)

You might have to do a trial for her too (or dh!!! - sittting down of course)

bessie26 · 05/05/2012 22:43

thanks carrots - definately worth a go! The ones you linked to don't seem to be available in the UK, so I might have to try some food dye

She is at least now happy to sit on the loo, so it's not anything to do with a fear of falling in, or monsters coming up to bite her bum! (she has done wees on it in the past, so I was worried someone had said something to her at pre-school)

She must have sat on there for 20mins earlier while we played with a puzzle - she got off & wee'd on the potty

People keep telling me to just get rid of the potty & say she'll soon start using the loo. But that's not really my style (I want her to want to do it) and TBH I think she would just wee in her pants!

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 22:47

I would take something like this at her pace tbh. It is about her taking control of herself after all. I wondered about the food colouring staining too. Especially in a limescale area. It might be like disclosing tablets Shock

I am trying to think of a way of testing it without ruining something.
