Good housekeeping? Ha! What's that? Thought I'd treat dh tonight to kick off long weekend and he was bummed he has to work late tonight. Cooked dinner, have my hair up in rollers, cleaned the house, bought wine, sexy lingerie....then I changed the bed sheets :s brand new expensive sheets and they were all crumpled after their first wash so I decided to iron them while they were ON the duvet. Long story short my cheap duvet has now melted into expensive sheets. Tried to pull at it to separate it and now duvet has big loose clumps rolling around in the covers somewhere :s have no idea how to hide my little crime and dh gets home in an hour.... there goes my sexy little evening plan :s

Lifes too short to iron anything duvets!! Have you time to pop to a late opening supermarket and buy a cheap duvet?

If not just fold the duvet down at the bottom of the bed and neither of you should notice Wink

ginmakesitallok · 05/04/2012 21:07

I do - and smugly I iron them when they are OFF the duvet...Grin Wink

CiderwithBuda · 05/04/2012 21:08

I do. Have had cleaner ironed duvets for years living overseas. Now back in UK and can't put them on unironed but am having to do myself these days.

Never thought to iron on duvet though!!!

I am puzzled

You tried to iron the duvet cover whilst it was on the duvet, is that right?

You're mental, girl :)

I iron the cotton ones, the polycotton ones can whistle.

Annunziata · 05/04/2012 21:18

I do! They sit so beautifully once they're ironed, all nice pointy corners...

HillyWallaby · 05/04/2012 21:18

Me. Always.

well not me personally but you know...I pay someone else to do it.

auburnlizzy78 · 05/04/2012 21:21

I did for a bit when we were first trying to sell our house. Took forever, and still looked shit when I put the duvets in. Now I merely try to pull duvet (in cover) taut and tuck it under the mattress - smooths the creases out a bit. Or I added shitloads of cushions so you couldn't see the crumpled mess underneath.

No one wants to buy our house though so efforts entirely wasted!

CuffingChunt · 05/04/2012 21:22

My MIL

fussbucket · 05/04/2012 21:38

Have lumps of melted polyester filling actually permanently fused with your sheets? Second the high speed dash to late opening big supermarket for replacements.
And if your OH is anything like mine, he will find it hysterically funny.
As I do.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 05/04/2012 21:41

I only iron duvet covers whilst in labour.

I dont know what gets into me.

FelicityKendalmintcake · 05/04/2012 21:46

Only if guests are staying.

COCKadoodledooo · 05/04/2012 21:47

I do. But not mine - only the ones I get paid to do!

landofsoapandglory · 05/04/2012 21:47

I do, but without the duvets inside them!
