Good housekeeping? Ha! What's that? Thought I'd treat dh tonight to kick off long weekend and he was bummed he has to work late tonight. Cooked dinner, have my hair up in rollers, cleaned the house, bought wine, sexy lingerie....then I changed the bed sheets :s brand new expensive sheets and they were all crumpled after their first wash so I decided to iron them while they were ON the duvet. Long story short my cheap duvet has now melted into expensive sheets. Tried to pull at it to separate it and now duvet has big loose clumps rolling around in the covers somewhere :s have no idea how to hide my little crime and dh gets home in an hour.... there goes my sexy little evening plan :s

I iron the duvet cover only for the bed my Mum sleeps in when she stays with us.

Not sure why as I know Mum does not iron her own duvet covers!

OneLieIn · 05/04/2012 21:48

my aupair

gruber · 05/04/2012 21:49

Me. And not just my own, also my parents (get paid to do theirs) and ones at work... Can't sleep in unironed sheets!

JasperJohns · 05/04/2012 21:50

Mrs DeVere - I made a pair of curtains whilst in labour & refused to go to hospital until they were hung! Most unusual for me as am largely useless.

However, I always iron duvet covers. Otherwise they look all crumpled!

DH does. And tea towels! Bless him.

EssentialFattyAcid · 05/04/2012 22:11

I do because poly cotton is skanky and cotton needs ironing

GetOrfMoiiLand · 05/04/2012 22:11

I never do. I can't be arsed. Plus HOW? How do you get the thing to stay on the ironing board? I have tried it and it looks worse after I have ironed it.

I don't care a damn about how creased the duvet cover looks as long as it's clean.

boxoftricks · 05/04/2012 22:12

I do! AND I use spray starch too.... makes them feel so nice!

Tigresswoods · 05/04/2012 22:13

My MIL. must invite her to stay again soon...

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 05/04/2012 22:19

I do (but not with the duvet inside)!
Love love love the sensual thrill of getting into a clean bed with smooth, crispy-crunchy cotton sheets. However, my boyfriend thinks my bedlinen ironing is indicative of some sort of mental health problem Hmm

Joolyjoolyjoo · 05/04/2012 22:20

I do, but I cheat and iron them already folded (lets face it, even if you iron them full out, they have creases once folded up) Have tried rebelling and not ironing them, but they just look all wrong! Blush

welovesausagedogs · 05/04/2012 22:22

My cleaner does

startail · 05/04/2012 22:22

Loonies

Clary · 05/04/2012 22:23

I iron my duvet covers - not while they are on the duvet tho Confused

Those of you who are struggling need a mega big Brabantia ironing board (they cost £80 but sooooo worth it)

Eggrules · 05/04/2012 22:25

Me. I love my white, crisp ironed bedding. Tis like sleeping under a cloud.

PastGrace · 05/04/2012 22:26

I do. I spend the most time on pillowcases though - lavender ironing spray and get them perfectly smooth. Nothing like that first night sleeping on them. I definitely don't time my sheet changes with DP working away/late so that I get them all to myself for the first night...

bibbitybobbitybunny · 05/04/2012 22:26

I do if my house is up for sale and the Estate Agent is coming round to take photographs. So the last time I did it was in 2004, before that it was early 1998 I think.

LittleFiendSusan · 05/04/2012 22:38

But HOW do you iron a super kingsized duvet cover without mental anguish and an afternoon to spare?

If it's dried on the line or over the horse, that's flat enough for me :)

Eggrules · 05/04/2012 22:40

PastGrace Have a Wine.

I have had 10 hours sleep this week. Last time DH took DS on an overnight trip I shaved my legs put on my DKNY pjs, changed into freshly laundered 600 thread count bedding and went to bed with my new book. Bliss.

DeadRisingPies · 05/04/2012 22:44

Not me, but someone I know irons (her own) sheets. The family has other problems, too.

PastGrace · 05/04/2012 22:47

Egg 10 hours this week?! You should be getting the wine, not me!

YY to shaved legs and clean jimjams though.

To iron duvets, I normally fold them in half lengthways, and then in half again (this normally makes the piece of fabric the same width as the long side of the ironing board) then you just fold it back on itself so you iron both sides, iyswim.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 05/04/2012 22:56

PastGrace- that is exactly how I do it Smile

Eggrules · 05/04/2012 23:36

Wine is out.

I have an extra large board and do 1/2 a time. I have steam generator iron and watch films. Fluff and fold fitted sheets.

kitelois · 05/04/2012 23:44

Always, and I have a super king duvet.

I just get DH to help me fold the duvet into long strips, and then I iron it.

Not difficult, and I do hate crumpled duvets... which is quite surprising for me, as I am usually quite slovenly Blush.
