April Fledglings Fly into Spring, Get That Clutter into the Bin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/03/2012 22:47

Welcome to the April 2012 Fledgling Flyers thread. Come and join us for a bit of chat and a lot of housework (or possibly the other way round).

A huge "thank you" to SanguineChompa for leading us through March

If you're house is a mess and you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat and support along the way.

We advise not signing up to receive the Flylady e-mails as you will be inundated! All the information you need will be linked here on a daily basis. Feel free to browse the Flylady website as well, links below

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, and as we are all at different stages we will be using one of the following methods:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

More info here and here!

All long-standing members, intermittent returnees, lurkers and newcomers welcome!!

Heart-breaking - DS1 has just spent hours creating a beautiful picture to try and get a girl from school to be his friend. He's 5...

Have done no flying and been feeling unreasonably narky with the boys all afternoon - first time I've been stuck alone with them for over a week!!

Good luck to all the caffeine withdrawal sufferers. Brew - decaff!

Bitchy - a fry up may not be ideal, but a big breakfast is actually a very good idea!

scattyspice · 10/04/2012 19:17

Aww bless him blue he'll learn Sad.

Done:
swimming baths
book football training
DC to optician
change and wash bedding
DD thank yous
DS reading/work book

Took Dc to the opticians for the first time. had to practically smother Ds to stop him prompting DD with the letters Grin. Thankfully both have good vision (unlike me).

Little to no flying done Blush.

BitchyInTheCorner · 11/04/2012 01:35

Finish off a ufo with exception of a few bits of hand sewing
Swear alot, bend a lot of pins and snap a sewing machine needles whilst achieving above

Catch up with a friend
Recheck email
Put a few inroads into paperwork
figure out dimensions for UFO
Hem trousers that were cut off to make shorts
make progress on another UFO
Potted up courgette plants and mutant Runner bean.

Brew anyone?

Sorry, been a bit AWOL this week, normal service should be resumed now. My evening routine has changed, i used to watch telly downstairs and then do a bit of MNing before going up to bed, but then we got a new SKy+ installed in our bedroom and the re-runs of ER started, which DH doesn't like, and I have never seen the early seasons before, so I am disappearing upstairs to watch it at 10 o'clock every evening and not coming back down to go on the computer.

Just been scanning through, there have been some super busy people on here.

Fanty - how many bin bags have you got up to?

TheWaffler - fingers crossed for Mrs Welsumer. I know nothing about chickens I'm afraid.

Blue - awww. When DS started school a little girl in his class developed the most enormous crush on him, it was very sweet but he didn't know what to make of it at all. She lost interest in the end. Hopefully she has been able to put it all behind her!

Bitchy - I decided to make a conscious effort to eat better by going lower GI about a month ago. It has definitely helped my energy levels and reduced carb cravings. The cornerstones of it are to eat an oat based cereal for breakfast, oatcakes during the day (2 at 11, 2 with a salad/protein lunch at 1.30 and 2 at about 4pm) and then have a potato/bread free evening meal. I'm having the cheesy oatcakes, which are really nice. I kickstarted this by giving up toast for Lent, I was able to have it again at the weekend and I didn't really enjoy it, a true miracle as previously I could have existed quite happily on toast several times a day. I'm still allowing myself bread occasionally, but much, much less of it.

Just going to grab a quick nap and then get on with the rest of the day. I bloody hate insomnia. Soo glad I don't have to be anywhere before 11am and thus can grab a few hours kip.

ToffeeWhirl · 11/04/2012 10:01

Haven't had time to visit MN over Easter and am not up to date with Fledgling activities, but I hope you are all OK.

The downstairs of my house is not looking too bad. That's because most of the clutter from downstairs is now in our bedroom .

But there was a time when the downstairs was cluttered too, so there has been some progress since I started Flying.

Tryingtogetairbourne · 11/04/2012 10:17

Grocery list DONE
Picnic DONE

My god its taken me nearly half an hour to do that...what was I doing???!!!?! need a timer...ooh but I did post twice in that time...Hmm does that count?

Oh and when I went to check girls ready to go...dd2 had decided to change back into pj's. Why oh why? She is good tho and gets herself dressed and decided to without a fuss...phew.

Be nearly lunchtime when we get back... at least sun is beginning to show a bit.

Tryingtogetairbourne · 11/04/2012 10:18

Hi Toffeewhirl - that name is so good I could eat it.

CarpeJugulum · 11/04/2012 10:19

Morning all.

PIL descended arrived yesterday. DS is looking a bit confused and shy, but seems to be getting used to them - shame they're leaving again tomorrow Hmm

House is therefore clean, and I'm trying to surreptitiously fly - just things like wiping counters and cleaning loos when I'm in there. Hoovering still has to be done though as DS has a side role as a crumb monster but I even emptied the hoover so it didn't look messy Blush

So, if it stays dry, then we're off to the park for a play/slide/look at the botanic gardens.

Happy flying everyone!

thewaffler · 11/04/2012 11:57

Waves at toffeewhirl hope things are going well with DS

blue that is heartbreaking, but i like his iniative - did it work?

trying more dog poo, as i've missed all of March, is this your own dog(s) or are you looking after them for somebody, recall you mentioned fostering?

bitchy good luck with the UFO project, hope you manage to get it completed, whats it for?

whoever i need to get into a mn routine, i used to be able to post during night feeds, however, touch wood am hoping that no longer need to do them, i've always posted on my phone, but find it incredibly irritating, so new plan to give myself half an hour on the laptop whilst watching tele. Can post intermittently at moment as still on mat leave, but my return to work day of 1st May rapidly approaching.

I'm not at home at the moment, therefore flying is an impossibility, i have however, done my exercises at mums house, so feeling very pleased with myself.

Mrs Welsummer is still going, she was asleep when dh checked last night, i'm hoping it may have been a peck to the head from another one and she needs some time and rest to recover.....

I actually hoovered yesterday and bedroom now resembles a bedroom, not a dumping ground. I also have conquered the ironing basket and no items whatsoever in laundry basket, now need to employ little and often technique to keep on top of it.

Thats it for now, i'm taking my sister for afternoon tea later, she's due to have a little girl next week, so time after that may be at a premium, am about to have a large sandwich and soup before afternoon tea, as place posh and therefore stingy portions and don't want to sit there with a rumbly tummy....

thewaffler · 11/04/2012 11:57

Sorry, how rude, waves at everybody else i haven't done personals to...

NickNacks · 11/04/2012 12:47

Good morning!

Ds's have some friends over today which is good as hopefully they will be kept occupied whilst I get on.

Ta da list

Empty, clean and rearrange all kitchen cupboards
15 min declutter of all our old VHS - got rid of 9 bags
Hoovered downstairs
Mopped kitchen
Washed one load
checked online bank- still not paid :(

Just about to make lunch for 6!
Bring dry washing
Hang wet washing out
Feed baby
Dust sitting room
What's for dinner?
Mission -need to go back and read that

NickNacks · 11/04/2012 12:49

Blush it wasornibg when I started writing that post!!

NickNacks · 11/04/2012 12:57

MORNING ARGH!!!!!

BitchyInTheCorner · 11/04/2012 14:09

Grin at technology fail.

Ta da
Several hours of crochet
Cooked breakfast
2 cups coffee
Pieces for topper cut out
6x fiddly pieces for large new project cut out
4x fiddly pieces for large new project marked out
make list of materials needed
Nap
get up
pop into next town and get material required for projects
half of fabric liner for crochet project.
Half of topper made for quilting project
Mend Jeans

To do:
Spend couple hours on paperwork
Finish off UFO progressed yesterday
Make pattern for another quilting project

The ufo is just like the mending basket, things get started with good intentions abandoned due to life and then forgotten about. Working on emptying the mending basket as well as the UFO/USP basket. Unfortunately I am as bad as a lot of crafters and always seem to have 100s of projects on the go at once.

Just going to grab lunch and then fly out to different town to get some more wool and some food shopping.

BitchyInTheCorner · 11/04/2012 14:10

Blush thy shall get bite on ass when mocking other's technology fail. Strike out fail Blush

scattyspice · 11/04/2012 15:03

Hi all.

Back from trip to museum and build a lego city project Grin. Also took Ds for his 1st paid for haircut (he is 8 1/2 after all), he now looks like One Direction Grin.

Need to hoover etc.

Can't believe how skint I suddenly am (effects of DDs birthday, new kids clothes, Dads visit and 1/2 term) Shock. Need to hunker down until payday Hmm.

Tryingtogetairbourne · 11/04/2012 18:23

Carpe hope they don't hang round tomorrow!! Your house sounds lovely and clean now...if you are anything like me you'll do nothing for a month now as the house looks so good...!

Bitchy feel for you re insomnia...my cure was to have a non sleeping child for 3 years...that cured it. It has to be one of the most frustrating things tho. Hope your crocheting (sp!!) goes well! Hope there are no aliens to add to ufo...

TheWaffler ddog1 was from a breeder, 1yr old, wee's in revenge for not paying her attention (see weeing on sofa arm, only outdone by the time she shat on the back of the sofa when I had left her for 3 4hour periods in the half term hols, she knows to do business outside). Ddog2 a rescue dog, about 8 mths old, dodgy tummy due to eating absolute rubbish when out and about, so weeing and pooing in kitchen as it starts off. Now on starvation diet then restart on sensitive stomach food. They are double trouble. That was probably more info than you needed but once I start about them...!!

Hope you weren't too hungry at afternoon tea!

I got done

The Mouse Cage!!! fecking sawdust everywhere

Just need to redo dd2's room after it was played in.

Hi to everyone else!
