How much do you pay for your windows being cleaned?

Outsides only. I pay £13 for a 4 bed house- 9 rooms in total I think, plus 2 doors- every 5-6 weeks.

I live SE north of London- Home Counties.

I feel this is quite £££ but am not sure. My biggest issue is that I don't really need them cleaning as often as they turn up. They don't do the sills and it takes 2 of them about 10 minutes!

Anyone else?

£15 he comes every 6 weeks.
18 windows I figure on about £1 per window,

dustyhousewithdustypeople · 11/01/2012 10:10

£13 as well. Could you ask them to do yours every other round, so every 10-12 weeks?

KirstyJC · 11/01/2012 10:12

You're supposed to clean them?!?

memphis83 · 11/01/2012 10:12

In our last house 9 windows, 2 doors and a set of patio doors, they clean all the door, and sills and charge £4.50, in a rural village in Leicestershire.

memphis83 · 11/01/2012 10:12

Wow seems we got it cheap!

Indith · 11/01/2012 10:13

£4. NE though!

SaltireOShanter · 11/01/2012 10:14

£6 for 7 windows, 3 doors and the patio doors. every 6-7 weeks

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 11/01/2012 10:15

£5. 6 windows inc 1 bay, they don't do doors here! They come when they feel like it about once a month

TheRhubarb · 11/01/2012 10:16

We had a windowcleaner come round when we had just moved in and the outside of the house was very grotsome. He charged £12 for 8 windows, 2 doors and a set of French doors. We were then kinda sucked into him coming every month but I recently told him to just come and do them every 3 months.

He doesn't even use a ladder, just an extendable pole with a squeezy thing on top. After seeing what others charge I'm now feeling ripped off and will cancel. I'm sure we can live without.

ClaimedByMe · 11/01/2012 10:17

£4.50 for 8 windows 2 doors and plastic stuff under the window in the front room every 4 weeks, we have decking in the back garden and if it's too wet and slippy for his ladders it only costs half the price, we are in Scotland!

ameliagrey · 11/01/2012 10:18

Sounds as if I am paying a lot- unless everyone else is very rural or northern- my mum is NE and pays about £3!!!

On the other hand my BF is central London W1- and pays about £50!

We pay by the hour, but I can't remember how much. 12 pounds per hour maybe? Last time we paid 36 pounds. There are two of them and 1.5 hours sounds about right. There are a lot of tricky windows. Fortunately they don't come very often as they are so busy. I wouldn't want to pay that every month.

Rather bizarrely, one of them told us this week that she just finished her MA in Literature, but plans to carry on cleaning windows!

NoMoreCakeOclock · 11/01/2012 10:21

5 pounds every fortnight. We have 8 windows, patio doors and the glass on the front and back door.

I think it's cheap.

Seona1973 · 11/01/2012 10:23

our is £5 - 4 bed detached house with bay window at the front and extra window due to garage being converted into a playroom

hct123 · 11/01/2012 10:27

£20 Herts

TheRhubarb · 11/01/2012 10:28

irregular - if she gets paid that much I'm not surprised she wants to continue! Unless your home is Buckingham Palace I don't see how cleaning windows, no matter how tricky they are, will take one and a half hours. By your calculations that means that last time they visited they charged you for 3 hours? Or do you pay BOTH of them £12 an hour?
Shit, I might take up this job myself, it sounds a lucrative business.

I think most of us are being ripped off.

thenightsky · 11/01/2012 10:31
