To ask how often you change your bedsheets?

my mum and my sister both insist on every week and I reckon it makes sense when you think of how much two people sweat each night. I usually manage every fortnight and feel a bit scummy about it. But I know plenty of people who think it's ok to wait a month. DH would wait until there were things crawling around and the sheets could stand up on their own. I change DS's cot sheets and sleeping bag once per week as I think that's a bit different. So, what do you all do?

Once a week, I would do it more often if I had the time... I love clean bedding!

Aftereightsaremine · 17/09/2011 07:41

Twice a week when dh here, once a week when he's not. Dcs get changed weekly.

MrsPresley · 17/09/2011 07:43

Usually once a fortnight but occasionally a bit longer especially in winter when I cant get washing out to dry.

HairyGrotter · 17/09/2011 07:44

Depends who has slept in it and what I've done in it.

It's usually (99% of the time) just DD and I who crash in my bed so I change the sheets every fortnight.

DD's bed, I change very rarely because she rarely sleeps in it! Usually once a month at a push

PublicHair · 17/09/2011 07:44

every week.

rushofbloodtothefeet · 17/09/2011 07:45

Ahhh, A perennial MN classic.

Lets play bedding top trumps!

GOML always wins BTW

PublicHair · 17/09/2011 07:45

(on a tuesday!) Wink

weevilswobble · 17/09/2011 07:47

Whenever i get round to it. Usually after DP has been to stay. Blush! Otherwise it works out about 2 weeks. Did mine and DD's yesterday.

saladsandwich · 17/09/2011 07:50

every week sometimes every fortnight if the weathers been bad and i havent got alot of washing done

changeforthebetter · 17/09/2011 07:51

Every fortnight unless the weather is really hot (not that often in YorkshireWink) but DD1's get changed more often due to some early morning laziness tiredness and consequent wee accidents Hmm

I love clean sheets but we're not that sweaty Smile and it's a waste of electricity and water (plus hard to dry the sheets with no tumble)

melpomene · 17/09/2011 07:52

Every week. Haven't had the duvet cleaned for aaaaages though.

Conflugenglugen · 17/09/2011 07:54

Every week.

LoveInAColdClimate · 17/09/2011 07:55

Used to be every week or sometimes fortnightly if v busy but now am pregnant am so blooming sweaty it has to be weekly and would be daily if I didn't have the inconvenience of having to go to work eating into my cleaning time...

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 17/09/2011 08:04

At least once a week - more in summer.

Duvets and pillows are cleaned every spring and autumn - thanks for the reminder!

33goingon64 · 17/09/2011 08:04

I always have a battle with DH who actually prefers 'his smell' in the bed and kicks up a minor fuss about having to put the new duvet cover on before bedtime. It really pisses me off as he never actually does the bedclothes washing and it takes like 10 minutes to make the bed again. I am inspired by all you weekly changers though and will endeavour to join your sweet smelling club. Sod DH.

Once a week.

fedupofnamechanging · 17/09/2011 08:11

I'd like to do it weekly, but it usually works out every ten days to two weeks. There are six of us in this house and it's a mammoth task getting it all washed and dried on top of all the clothes washing and towels.

I can cram the single duvets into the washing machine and do that 2 - 3 times a year.

cerealqueen · 17/09/2011 08:52

Once a week for all of use ideally but that can slip. I sometimes put on fresh pillowcases mid-week as I love to have a fresh pillow!

Dialsmavis · 17/09/2011 09:12

I aim for weekly but it doesn't always happen. To those those weekly or more people: How do you do it in the winter? Do you all use a tumble drier?

Proudnscary · 17/09/2011 09:16

Fuck, I'm not answering now I've read the above posts.

Umm, yes once a week.

LoveInAColdClimate · 17/09/2011 09:21

Our sheets get dried over the upstairs bannisters in winter - we're lucky that one floor of the house hardly gets used so it's not like they're hanging somewhere we have to look at them. Thinking about getting a tumble dryer, though, as expecting our first baby so that floor will be used more and there will be more washing...
