Welcome to the September 2011 Fledgling Flying thread! Hang up your microfibre cloths and park your buckets here!!

[Sorry - I've namechanged again - but remain SC]

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years Blush

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

All newcomers welcome!

whoknows already put my tomatoes in banana bag with a banana. No paper bags here. Fingers crossed it works. Grin

BlueEyeshadow · 07/09/2011 21:57

Wow, what a day Nettle! It makes mine sound positively uneventful! Shock at DC not eating macaroni cheese, too. It's the one thing I know I can always get into our boys, and maybe smuggle in some veg along with it... I had 2kg of green tomatoes, so never going to ripen! Chutney is the answer, although there was also a recipe for green tomato marmalade in the Grauniad on Saturday.

Thanks, SC - yes, a good time definitely had by all, although DS1 was manically hyper about everything and doing lots of exhausting attention-seeking behaviour...

Swan - Hmm at the school's cryptic instructions re padlocks! I hope you found one that fits!

Hopefully back to normal tomorrow, although I'm going to be madly busy.

Hello everyone...you've all been mahoosively busy ....well done!!

So sorry I am posting the steps so late. Didn't realise what the time was. Have been catching up on work that I missed today because of lack of baby-sitter this afternoon. Only stopped just now because I saw a huge spider the size of dd's hand descend down the chimney ...yikes! Still got loads to do but calling it a day as have busy day tomorrow.

Thank you Whoknows (well done on your early Shredding btw) but I'm afraid I'm blotting my copy-book tonight by skipping the round-up as I need to go to bed. I see that Coostoonettle has already done a fab job of it - thank you too!!

Oh and as it's 12 minutes past midnight here I can now officially say "Happy Birthday!!!!" to PA.

Humungous waves to everyone else. Back early tomorrow!

Baby-step no 8 for Wednesday 8th September is

Tomorrow we are still in Zone 2: The Kitchen (September 5 - 9) here

Wendesday?s mission will appear here once the website updates itself

But for a sneak-peak ahead at this week?s missions, look here Again, may need to update.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/09/2011 08:20

Happy Birthday PA
Happy First day at school for DS Nettie

I've got to lug an enormous keyboard to school this morning for DS to have his first lesson, oh joy, just hoping it doesn't start raining, it is so dark.

My list today mainly consists of phone calls to make, plus mission, plus I really must hoover the lounge (dark rug shows all the bits).

Good news - having got back to school and inspected the gardening club (I started this in Feb with some other mums) we have got a bumper harvest of beetroot, loads of beans and potatoes and tomatoes to harvest tomorrow. To top it all we have won a prize in the Town in Bloom competition, but don't get to find out which one till we go to the award ceremony next week.

swanriver · 08/09/2011 09:43

today has been another exhausting battle to get everyone out of the house with rght stuff.
I am looking forward to doing a massive clearup today, as I see I am only going to survive this Secondary School Lark if

  1. bedrooms are totally organised
  2. meals are pre-prepared
  3. all the children have a cast-iron bathing routine
  4. all the children have a cast-iron uniform/homeclothes regime

The homework for two Yr 5's, and one Yr 7 is going to mean serious supervision for at least next few weeks
I need to fit in some calming exercise for Ds1.

Last night helpign at Beavers meant - Ds1 had not managed to finish his homework to satisfactory standard,
No uniform washed till 10pm
No supper cleared up till 10pm

and just general MAYHEM, and cross DH.

swanriver · 08/09/2011 09:45

Whoknows
typing course for ds sounds good
Well done on prize

SC enjoy the French or should I say Flemish toast Smile

Messy sorry about dp, perhaps he was comig down with something the other night when his housekeeping went AWOL. There is a nasty bug around.

swanriver · 08/09/2011 09:47

nettle after school routine.
School is much more tiring than nursery.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/09/2011 10:01

Swan it's a musical keyboard, but agree typing would be good for him, he never uses the regular computer since we got the ipad.

oopslateagain · 08/09/2011 10:21

Oooh, back to school and back to routine, the house is so QUIET! Grin I suppose I have to get used to getting up and dressed at a reasonable hour again too.
