Welcome to the September 2011 Fledgling Flying thread! Hang up your microfibre cloths and park your buckets here!!

[Sorry - I've namechanged again - but remain SC]

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here )

Humungous thanks to our previous thread leader Blue for navigating us all through the August school holidays...and for doing it so consistently and well!!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. Some of us (SC stares at feet) -are even embarrassingly stuck at decluttering stage after two years Blush

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

All newcomers welcome!

Hello everyone

Still gloriously sunny here - incredible!

And we're doing - not a lot!

Nicknacks good luck to your db! Do you have any other siblings at home? How is your ma taking it?
Hope your dd feels better soon - that cold sounds a bit nasty - good that you were able to catch up on sleep though

MC sorry you have been left on your own when you are feeling grim. I hope you recover soon. Not easy if you have been left with all the chores/childcare though! Tis good your friend is coming over! Can't wait to hear what sculptural creation your dd comes up with btw! Take it steady x

Waves to everyone else!

Baby-step no. 26 for Monday 26th September is here One you can't really do if you haven't subscribed to the e-mails (which we haven't in the main). You can learn about habits from the main Flylady site though if you are interested. The Fat Fairy devotes one month to each see here. This month's was before bed routine and next month's will be paper clutter.

Tomorrow's zone is here the living room (from 26 - 30)

Tomorrow's mission will appear here once the website updates itself

However if you want to know what missions are in store for you this week, have a sneak peak here Again, website will need to update first.

Monday is home blessing bleurrghhh day! Scroll down for more details here

Ellie for your penance I would like you to uncork one of these Wine and drink two large glasses IMMEDIATELY!! Grin

OP posts:
substantiallycompromised · 25/09/2011 17:20

Actually, I need to ask you all a favour please!

The reason I've posted tomorrows links so early is that dh's schedule has changed (as it is wont to do) and as dd has Mon and Tues off school (training day + public hol) and weather unexpectedly good - we are heading off for a very impromptu break to seek green fields. Will be back on Tuesday early evening.

So would some kind person mind posting the links/overseeing the thread while I am away? THANK YOU!

Sorry for inconvenience and for all being so last minute!

OP posts:
elliepac · 25/09/2011 17:37

I shall accept the punishment gladly sc. Grin. And as further penance I shall thread sit for you. It's been a while since I took my turn!

Have a lovely time Smile.

substantiallycompromised · 25/09/2011 17:43

Thank you so much Ellie!! (You've taken your turn loads btw!!)
Literally off now (just waiting for dh to back up his books in office) so will say adios! Flaps wings at everyone!

OuchPassVodka · 25/09/2011 21:48

Have a lovely time SC

Ellie i have nothing but been stupidly crazy this weekend. the closest i have come to flying is to check I have enough uniform for ds tomo morning. No idea where his book bag is or anything else though.

But tbh right now CBA. I just want my bed.

BlueEyeshadow · 25/09/2011 22:19

Right, well the kitchen is finally clear, apart from vital things like the kettle which we'll need in the morning... School/playgroup stuff is ready.

To do
Laundry tonight and on the line in the morning
Fill up the kettle, boys' drinks etc before the water goes off
Find somewhere to put the microwave
Recycling and compost out
Move bins
Remember to do school run in car to be back in time for fitter
DH to write list of things to check
Buy milk and bread
Pay for school dinners
Zumba in evening

Probably loads of other stuff I've forgotten...

Big waves to all - hope you have good weeks. Night.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 25/09/2011 22:25

I am still here....

...haven't had PC on all weekend and posting long lists from my phone isn't easy so I have used that valuable time to FLY instead lies through teeth

Back is better now.....since i was last here (which I think was Thurs) I have

Had first day at uni....been scared wittless by workload.
Done 9 GCSE exam papers
Read 250 pages of student handbook/guide thingies

Read an Ofsted and diocese report
Designed a poster, handout and half a presentation

Oh dear it seems as tho Uni work has taken over from FLYing Blush

Fixed Guinea pigs hutch (was damaged in tail end of hurricane a couple of weeks ago
Done a fair bit of gardening - was going to paint fence today but it rained
Done about 4 loads of washing...but been naughty and not put any of it way...
DCs clothes all out for tomorrow...mine need doing...when I work out what I am wearing.
Cooked only my second roast meal ever! (Xp was a trained chef so always did the roast) and cleaned up after it

I am unlikely to be back before Tuesaday...sadly I won't be enjoying myself as much as SC....instead I will be leaving the house before 8am tomorrow and unlikely to return properly until gone 9. Have a long chain of events including a logistical nightmare of getting from uni, pick up kids, drop DD3 at XPs, get changed for Brownies, collect friend and get back to do a Brownie visit to fire station which is almost next door to uni. It is going to be at least 20min each way and I only have an hour to do it with all the pick ups and drop offs between...I am going to need a miracle....

Makingchanges · 25/09/2011 23:28

Good luck haunted are you primary or secondary. I remember the first day at uni on pgce well from last year. I had a complete panic but i promise its not as bad as it seems.

I decided at 7pm tonight to empty a drawer in the unit in lounge. Its now 11.30 and i've now clearer out 1/2 of unit. 2 black bags later i have been ruthless!! I'm now thinking bed would be better idea.

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2011 04:16

Am here still! Really! Blush

To Do Before Bed:

**General Tidy (I'm actually liking this whole ILs watching DS thing, my house is much cleaner than usual)
**Sweep Everything
**Lay out clothes for everyone (DS is asleep in the shirt he's going to wear tomorrow, so that's one less thing I have to do!)
**Clear of Hot Spot
**Dishes
**Shine sink
**Make spice rub for chicken
**Swish and swipe so I don't have to in the morning :)

Tomorrow Morning

**Dressed
**Breakfast
**Hair/Makeup
**Chicken in slow cooker
**Dog out and walked if I have time Blush
**Get DS up and teeth brushed, etc.
**Bring snack to preschool

Next Few Days:

**Finish library books!!!!!
**Vacuum
**Rake and bag leaves
**Try to keep up with FlyLady missions
**DS's homework for preschool
**Clean bedroom

elliepac · 26/09/2011 06:45

Morning all!

Just checking in to say good luck on your marathon day today haunted. I can still remember that sinking feeling on the first day of my PGCE Grin. It does get better. I have been teaching for 12 years and I bloody love my job Smile.

cheerfulyank impressive list Grin.

ouch I am about to iron uniform now Blush.

Have a good day everyone!

feetheart · 26/09/2011 06:54

haunted - hope you get your miracle. Made me tired just reading about your day.

Winding up for Autumn Fayre here so most things will be school related this week and, as usual, Flying will be minimal Blush
Have already finished off poster this morning and have to ice buns for 'Tea and Tissues' event for new parents whose DC start full time in Reception today.

Acquired masses of quinces on Saturday at Guiding Fair thing. Have big pan of very fragrant juice that will be made into jelly later. Never eaten them before but smell lovely :)
Swan (was it you?) - in my view anything can be made into jelly

Fuzzled - sorry to hear you are in hospital. Hope they sort you out soon.

Right..........icing!

HauntedLittleLunatic · 26/09/2011 07:50

Thankyou all...my philosophy at the moment is that I need to try - if I fail part way thru I have at least tried.

If I give up now I haven't.

So its one day at a time....

Pshycological barrier is that I wasn't a lone parent when I applied.

Oh and secondary science for those that asked...

Right time to do dcs hair and then it is all sysstems go....

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/09/2011 08:25

Yay, another scientist on the thread! Good luck Haunted

swanriver · 26/09/2011 09:18

Hi all

not a particularily good weekend Hmm Apart from finishing book about Roman politics (Lustrum - gripping, clever, thoughtful) and holing myself up in the attic with the ironing. (had row with dh and left him to deal with kids and homework etc on Sunday Blush

Haunted very admiring, fingers crossed for pickup miracle they do set ones nerves on edge don't they, just thinking about all the legistics

SC glad you had a blissful w/end in sun Smile

feet yes, but that essential piece of equipment is missing here! The jelly filter. Dh made some grape juice on Sat out of grapes. I drank most of it, feeling it must be medicinal if nothing else Shock

Right, Dh is driving me mad again. Today we have exchanged few words. (except a heated discussion about Robert Harris yest - the power of literature Smile

But it is my power to change things Grin
So: the house will be cleaned from top to toe today
and the garden rubbish is going to to the tip Angry
and I'm going into School Library at lunchtime for an hour, whatever state of the house

done
dropped ds1 at school at 7.30 with his trombone by car (fear this is goign to be a regular event - still, I avoid breakfast Wink
bought coffee
ate chocolate
organised ds2, and dd's violin
twins to school

OuchPassVodka · 26/09/2011 09:38

Morning.

I need more coffee before i consider anything else. I don't think I am capable of considering stuff yet this morning Blush Was up too late last night and sleep wasn't high on the priority this weekend. So I am essentially walking dead. Had a lot of fun though.

BlueEyeshadow · 26/09/2011 10:59

Kitchen work has started... Flying will be limited to containing the mess!

OuchPassVodka · 26/09/2011 11:00

Forgive me fat fairy i have sinned. Took a broom and swept the mess out of my room into the hall and bathroom so that i could try to fix the room layout. This means not only have I ignored the not pulling out more then I can put away in an hour but also that chaos disaster is now firmly in control. Blush

I intend to get most of it the removed furniture put back before ds comes home from school and then will start to tackle the general heap of doom.

help yourselves.

Makingchanges · 26/09/2011 11:09

Morning all

DD was in a foul mood this morning. Started off a lovely little girl but by breakfast time had decided she was going to be contrary. This put me in a bad mood but I have charged around Morrisons and shifted the gloom.

Swan hope you and DH resume normal communications (although a day on my own without kid, even if I had to iron doesn't sound too bad)
haunted good luck with your busy day

Waves to everyone else

To do

  • DD to school - Done with a warning to wake up and stop daydreaming
  • Shopping - Done
  • Breakfast - having strawberries, pancakes and maple syrup
  • Ring school about a visit re job
  • Ring swimming teacher re my lessons this week
  • Finish clearing out unit in lounge - I left the lounge strewn with things last night as I ended up too tired so I need to clean it up before DH comes home.
  • Hoover throughout downstairs
  • Unpack shopping and clean out fridge
  • Make chilli for tea
  • Pick up dd and take to her swimming lessons

That will do for today. Nice thing is my washing basket was emptied yesterday so no washing.

I hope you all have productive Mondays. Back later
