Anyone else????

I always seem to have a side of washing up, its rarely all done.
then theres the clothes etc washing I have a mountain!
bathroom needs cleaning although my house is nowhere near as bad as the ones on kim and aggies tv show, the main rooms I can keep tidy are living room, dining room, bedrooms. although living room gets trashed by 2 year old daily I mannage to keep it fairly useable.
is anyone else like this?? I must admit though I do procrastinate a bit!

Just wondered how do you deal with your paperwork?:
Newspapers, magazine's, children's creations, bills, receipt's, anything you get really?
I ask because I need to do major decluttering of paperwork. I might start a new thread about it if no one else has.

SilveryMoon · 15/08/2011 12:18

sane I did all ours a little while ago.
there are a number of ways you can do it.
I have a big ringbinder with section card and plastic wallets and have sections for payslips, bank accounts, car stuff, user guides (oven, boiler etc), receipts, one each for the children, household bills, stationery items, etcetc
I sort through it every 6 months or so now.
I don't keep everything though. I don't keep bills or anything like that, all that comes out as Direct Debit, so I pin them to the notice board and when the bank statement comes in, check it all off and throw bills away.

On the inside of my kitchen cupboard, I have a calendar that I printed off which is for recording incomings and outgoings with the bank accounts in hope that it will give me an average budget setting.

have a look at the FLYlady website, she has some useful tools for household record keeping, budget setting and filing.
Goodluck

Canistaysane · 15/08/2011 15:22

Thanks silvery You sound quite organised. I think it might take me some time to get that organised.

Since this morning, Have done:
Another load of washing in machine
Cleaned bathroom,
Phoned plumber
One more lot of washing up
still potty training,

Still TO DO:
washing up
Get dry washing in
Hang out next lot of washing
cook dinner
Get dc ready for bed
Try to do a bit of declutteringHmm

AngelDog · 15/08/2011 21:10

Organised is my middle name. 'Dis-' is my first one. Grin

I keep a file of different types of paperwork eg credit card bills in date order. Receipts only get kept if for a big item.

In practice, most things get chucked in a box and sorted out about 3 x a year. By that time most things are 'out of date' and can go straight in the bin. Anything I really need I can hunt through and find. DH deals with all the bills though.

Not a bad day here. My parents are staying for a couple of days so DS enjoying 200% attention. I've not done much housework yet though.

Done
2 x washing
Loaded dishwasher, dad washed up
Put away laundry

Tomorrow to do

  • Ring hairdresser
  • Ring credit card co.
  • Finish sorting baby clothes
Canistaysane · 15/08/2011 21:34

Hi AngelDog Do your parents live far away from you? It must be nice to see them.
I have had a busy day here so I wont list it all again. I did manage to get a plumber round and he said he will try to figure out what the problem is so am hoping to get a phone call tomorrow to say when he can come and fix it.
We are having problems with our shower going cold also the pressure seems low when the hot water comes out the shower.
I still haven't got round to decluttering my paperwork.

Canistaysane · 15/08/2011 22:43

AngelDog I've noticed there is a new thread by Carrots and Celery about starting with Baby steps for the FlyLady thing. Do you think we should join them? If not i'm happy to carry on with this thread but what do you want to do?Confused

Canistaysane · 16/08/2011 07:45

AngelDog
I hope you don't mind but I think I want to join the new thread. I would like it if you came tooSmile. there will be more people on it. I think SilveryMoon has joined the Fledglings Flying one. I don't think I'm quite good enough at getting things done to join them yet. What do you think?

SilveryMoon · 16/08/2011 09:21

Morning! Yes, I did join the fledging flyers, just because I wanted to see what other who were FLYing were doing and their daily routines.
If there is a babysteos thread starting now, you should def join it! You'll start off nice and easy and there will be people there in the same boat you are and can motivate and support you.
Is how I started a few years ago.
I'd join the babysteps one, but it'd be too slow for me as I've done the declutter thing and the babysteps.
Goodluck ladies, you can do it, join the thread x

Canistaysane · 16/08/2011 09:48

Thanks SilveryMoon for being understanding. Good Luck with the flying! I wondered if you had been flying for a while as you get so much done in a day.
I think it would be good to have more people to help me get motivated as I struggle some days.

Canistaysane · 16/08/2011 10:01

Not sure which thread to post my TO DO list on so I will do it here this morning
TO DO:
Get dressed
Wash up/dry up
Try to declutter some paperwork
Try to do more potty training

That will do as feeling a bit unmotivated this morning.

SilveryMoon · 16/08/2011 10:05

sane Yes, the babysteps thread will help you.
Goodluck with it, might even pop on there every now and then to say hi to you both and see how you're doing. x
I do hope AngelDog will go too.

Canistaysane · 16/08/2011 19:37

Hi AngelDog Don't know if you've been on here today yet but if you have I guess you'll know I'm thinking about joining the new babysteps FlyLady thread. I hope you would like to join too as I would still like to hear from you. I'm sure the others won't mind if you want to go slow with the babysteps. and as you know I get the odd days when I find it a struggle. I look forward to hearing from you either way. If you don't want to do FlyLady you could still go on the thread just to say how your day has been.

AngelDog · 16/08/2011 22:39

Hello both - sorry not to have replied today - I've been too busy sorting out and decluttering to want to post about it!

Moving to the other thread is fine by me. :)

Canistaysane · 16/08/2011 22:46

Are you going to post on other thread?

GossipWitch · 18/08/2011 14:45

I am so glad im not the only one. My next door neighbours house is immaculatly clean, and she has 2 sons aged 5 and 7 and a mechanic husband who doesn't help with housework to my knowledge, I on the other hand, have 2 sons aged 9 and nearly 3 and my house generally looks like the 9 year old has been experimenting with his chemistry set, and has left a small bomb in each room. I have come to the conclusion that she has no friends and puts housework on the top of her priority list, its no wonder she's getting married on saturday and I'm divorced.

Canistaysane · 18/08/2011 22:11

Hello GossipWitch I just noticed your post on here. We have moved to the baby steps FlyLady thread as we are trying to change our ways but a little at a time. you are welcome to join us if you fancy it.

Red2011 · 20/08/2011 20:12

I've given up! DD is 7 months old and just starting to crawl. Toys everywhere, plus weaning slops that she either flicks around or vomits back up - carefully avoiding any bibs or muslins employed for the sole purpose of soaking up food/water/milk.
Add to that disintegrating carpet underlay (because we were too poor to buy new when we put carpet in 14 years ago) and various bodily fluids from 2 cats - both litter-tray trained but one not adverse to peeing on the carpet behind the curtains if the tray isn't clean enough, and one who projectile vomits from the table/clothes horse/sofa on a regular basis.

I want to install lino but the room is fully furnished, and I live in a one-bedroomed flat. Can someone send Kim & Aggie round whilst we go out? :-)
