Anyone else????

I always seem to have a side of washing up, its rarely all done.
then theres the clothes etc washing I have a mountain!
bathroom needs cleaning although my house is nowhere near as bad as the ones on kim and aggies tv show, the main rooms I can keep tidy are living room, dining room, bedrooms. although living room gets trashed by 2 year old daily I mannage to keep it fairly useable.
is anyone else like this?? I must admit though I do procrastinate a bit!

Glad your washing machine is fixed. I just looked at FlyLady, sounds good if your not too tired. I'm off to give it a go but I'm going to start by doing some washing.
Do you want to join me today by trying to do something you need to do?

We could try to keep each other motivated

Mission impossible here we go!

Its 9.40 am and I have done one load of washing and taken ds to school.
I'm really going to try hard today although still feeling pretty tired from lack of sleep. Weather doesn't look like its on my side as far as getting washing dry goes but hoping the sun might appear sometime today. If anyone else would like to join the" mission impossible" (housework attempt!) please join in, hope to hear from you later

I'll tentatively join you. :)

I did join one of the big FlyLady threads but there were too many people on it and I was trying to do too much too fast, so it was a dismal failure.

I've concluded that I can only cope with a to do list of max 3 things, or else I get so overwhelmed I don't get anything done. So I need to get jobs properly established as habits before trying to do more things. A friend who's a reformed disorganised person said FlyLady worked for her as long as she did each baby step for a few weeks rather than just a day, so that's what I'm going to try to do.

I'll have a go at posting the evening routine I'm working on, and my short to-do list. I'm not even starting housework yet as I need to get organised with a number of things that should be habits but have slipped. Obviously the urgent jobs still need doing, but I'll just do them as and when.

How are you getting on today?

AngelDog · 21/07/2011 16:19

Today's list for me is:

Evening

  • Pray
  • Do physio

To do

  • Dry yesterday's washing
  • Put away dry washing
  • Finish filling in CRB form
lookatthatmess · 21/07/2011 21:13

Yesterday I started with enthusiasm but it was waning by lunchtime( I think I got up too early! was up at 5.00am)
I managed to shiny my bathroom sink yesterday. and I was right about the weather and the washing. I hanged it out yesterday and by the time I was going to get it in it was raining. so I left it out till this evening and it was almost dry(needs airing).
TODAY:
Have only done a bit of washing up
and cooked the tea.
Been out too much today to make any real progress.

I understand if you want to take it slow with the FlyLady thing
I don't think I will be making a huge amount of progress anytime soon. I'm starting with baby steps too

lookatthatmess · 21/07/2011 21:19

Angeldog I forgot to tell you I changed my nickname
From (Ineedmetime)

AngelDog · 21/07/2011 22:44

Like the nickname! 5am is really not a fun time to be up.

Waning enthusiasm is often my problem (as well as too much MN!).

Today's goals were achieved. :)

I felt inspired and went on a tidying frenzy in what is notionally DS's room (we co-sleep in our room, so his is full of washing and toddler clutter). I can now see the floor. Grin On the downside, the cot is stuffed full of too-small baby clothes waiting to be sorted.

Tomorrow's to do list:

  • Take DS to the park
  • Pack up for an overnight stay at the PiLs.
lookatthatmess · 22/07/2011 06:32

Hi, up at 6.00am today,

Today's to do list:
Get kids up and ready for school run (last day tdy)
Go shopping with dh.
try to make progress in kitchen with washing up
sort yesterdays washing for airing and do some more

I think that will do for starters.

Glad you're making progress Angeldog

How do you put smiley face etc on to your post?
I'm fairly new to MN so not sure how to do that yet, :)

lookatthatmess · 22/07/2011 06:37

OH! I some how did one but if you could fill me in that would be good

SleepySuzy · 22/07/2011 07:03

Can I join?

Moved house a few months ago from an old 50s house to a 5 yr old house. Due to lack of storage we've had to chuck loads away, which has helped immensely. Managed to keep fairly tidy, but I can feel it starting to slip.

Got yesterday's washing up to do, and a couple of loads of washing. Our room has quite a few clothes needing putting away, and baby's room is a bomb site! I'm going start on that today, by doing one pile, then leaving it.

lookatthatmess · 22/07/2011 15:14

Hi Sleepysuzy (great nickname by the way!)
Course you can join although speaking personally, I'm quite unmotivated at times!
Today is turning out to be another flop as far as housework goes.
here's what I have done so far:
took ds to school
been shopping
lunch
picked up ds from school
that is it.. pathetic isn't it!
I've decided my problem is lack of sleep so I'm going to try to get more if the dc will let me. I feel completely Exhausted!

It's hard work moving house isn't it.
We only moved last year after trying to sell our other house on and off since 2008. very stressful too!

lookatthatmess · 22/07/2011 20:56

Managed to get an hours sleep while dh looked after dc so feeling a bit better now.
How are you? Angeldog
Sleepysuzy

lookatthatmess · 23/07/2011 08:30

Todays aim
try to be more motivated!
Had fairly good amount of sleep. :)

AngelDog · 23/07/2011 23:03

Hi, SleepySuzy.

Well done on the sleep, lookatthatmess! I think a day of doing school run & shopping isn't bad.

How did the motivation go today?

There's a list of smileys underneath the box where you write your message, and it tells you what to type to insert each type.

Packing got done with last minute panic & help from DH, and we took DS to the park at my in-laws'.

I had a nice break from the housework while staying at the PILs (and MIL is really tidy and houseproud so it was a break from mess too!)

Tomorrow's list:

  • do a nappy wash
  • relax (I have a day off on Sunday - plus it's my birthday. :))
lookatthatmess · 24/07/2011 07:09

Angeldog .... Happy Birthday! Grin
you do right to chill out on your birthday, hope you have a good day.
Glad you had a nice time at the ILs.

Yesterday was a very good day for getting housework done. :)
Here's what I managed to do:
2 loads of washing,drying
some washing up(still not all done)
Shiny bathroom sink again and cleaned some of bathroom.

Today's to do list:
do more washing,drying.
do more washing up
Maybe go and visit mum.
chill out a bit.

Shipscat · 24/07/2011 07:45

Can I join in please?
I have DTSs (5, and at school) and DD (19m), and keeping the house looking anything like respectable is such an uphill struggle!
Having said that, I am now trying to blitz one room at a time and then spend a couple of minutes each day getting it tidy again, which is working, although I've only done 3 rooms so far.
I've also found that I'm much more motivated by writing a 'Done' list, rather than having a long 'To do' list Smile

lookatthatmess · 24/07/2011 08:38

Yes, .... the more the merrier as they say!
You all might need to keep the thread going next week though as I will be away for about a week. I will keep posting though before I go.:)

lookatthatmess · 24/07/2011 22:56

Here's how I did today:
2 loads of washing done and getting dry( now airing )Grin
Went to visit mum.

no washing up done.Sad

Tomorrow:
try and do more washing,drying
put away any dry washing
Try to wash up

How is everyone else doing?

Angeldog How was your birthday?

AngelDog · 24/07/2011 23:12

Thank you, lookatthatmess. I had an unexciting but relazing afternoon pottering & playing with DS in the garden. DH cooked lunch :)

Sounds like you did lots even if no washing up. We always have washing up waiting to be done - even though we have a dishwasher!

Hello, Shipscat. That tidying plan sounds good.

AngelDog · 24/07/2011 23:13

Tomorrow:

  • Tidy (everywhere!)
  • Hang out washing & do some more
  • Shop and cook - visitors for dinner
lookatthatmess · 24/07/2011 23:19

I'm trying really hard to get my washing done cause dh has got 2 weeks off work and we are going away soon, so I will have to do packing next.
its easier to get housework done if he can keep an eye on the dc too.
Glad you had a nice birthday.

AngelDog · 24/07/2011 23:23

Oh, that pre-holiday (and post-holiday) washing mountain is hard work!

lookatthatmess · 24/07/2011 23:28

Yes, I'm pretty tired now, I think I better go and get some sleep.

Sookeh · 25/07/2011 09:45

Can I join?
I have DD(3) and DS(6mo) at home and due to some ongoing mental health issues the house has really gotten away from me and it's bad, really bad.

I'm just so overwhelmed and don't know where to start and on top of it all the washing machine broke down this morning Sad.

AngelDog · 25/07/2011 13:09

Welcome, Sookeh. Small steps, small steps that's what you want. :) It's miserable, miserable without a working washing machine though, isn't it?

Have just put out some washing to dry - off to put more away and do some tidying while DS sleeps.
