Following on from the February Fledgling Flyers thread, welcome to March. This is the thread that follows the Flylady website (loosely) for getting your home decluttered and your housework into routines, whilst dispensing tea and chat freely.

A big thank you to PushMePullYou for leading us through February ably assisted by ToffeeFudgeCake. We had a huge influx of new posters as well, which was lovely, anyone else who is lurking, please say hello, you will be very welcome.

We have a fairly relaxed attitude to Flying and take some of the babysteps - such as getting dressed to lace-up shoes - with a pinch of salt. We also strongly advise against signing up for the FlyLady emails.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, using one of the following methods:

  1. Babysteps
  2. Babysteps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. Babysteps + daily missions

Following the babysteps helps to establish daily routines and build a weekly plan.

If you are overwhelmed by the mess in your home, start with just one thing: shine your sink. It's amazing what you can achieve by just doing a bit at a time!

LOL it's been a bit like Election Night with results coming in all the time from different constituencies by text to me(other parents and school places!!!Grin Most people got their first choice including US! Yippee, Pan London site crashed for quite a while before we found out. I have to say we were expecting to get in as we put the oversubscribed school 3rd choice out of contrariness Wink; also it didn't feel quite right for ds1 (no sports field and too much homework!!!) Very pleased with ds school.

Friends shedding tears of relief to have places at their first choice schools, it is a battlefield, and at school tomorrow there will be endless discussion..Still not sure where lots of his friends going...

swanriver · 01/03/2011 19:57

Toffee I feel it is one less thing to worry about, and I now want to just enjoy the rest of this year (till Sept) hope you feel the same, and just enjoy NOW. (more texts arriving - off I go!)

LinzerTorte · 01/03/2011 20:54

missjulie Oh dear, I'm sure they mean well but it's still frustrating, isn't it? FWIW I still feel like I'm 16 whenever I'm back at my parents'.

swan That's great news. Smile

Nettie DS loved the postcard and wanted to know whether it was a "very real dolphin". Grin

Have given up on flying for the night - don't even have the energy to shine my sink - but will try to stick to the early(ish) bedtime babystep. At least the DC's clothes are laid out ready for tomorrow, one of the babysteps I always do (though not for myself, I must admit, as I never know the night beforehand exactly what I'll feel like wearing in the morning and it usually only takes me a few seconds to decide!).

Night all. Smile

MrsRhettButler · 01/03/2011 20:55

well you have all been an inspiration to me today so thank you all, i have done a trillion wash loads which is great and my sink is still smiling at me :)

does everyone have a list then? is it amended daily?

NickNacks · 01/03/2011 21:02

I live for my lists MrsRhettButler Grin

ColdHeartedBitch · 01/03/2011 21:04

I have a list, i ignore it and then throw it out at the end of the day. Grin

Going to grab early night. Wine and Brew for you all.

Makingchanges · 01/03/2011 21:05

Also finished my whole list, did an online shop and did the misson (Didn't finish my essay but shhh lets not dampen my spirits)

Off to celebrate with an alcohol free beer Hmm and a chocy pud.

ColdHeartedBitch · 01/03/2011 21:07

Woo hoo Well done MC!

right really turning computer off this time. Blush

MrsRhettButler · 01/03/2011 21:21

well done MC :)

lists scare me Blush

funambulist · 01/03/2011 21:40

Congratulations Makingchanges that is brilliant! You are fantastic for facing your fear. How did you manage to screw up the courage to do it?

Linzertorte, I always lay out uniform for the DCs the night before as well (though actually now that DS1 is at secondary school he does his own). I rarely manage to do it for myself though.

Ihatecobwebs · 01/03/2011 21:48

How can you not have a list? The idea of not having a list scares me! How does that "important but I don't want to do it" thing not just leak out of your brain until its too late?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/03/2011 21:50

OK, another busy day Chez Fledglings?..

We started the day around midnight with a few cheerful St Davids thanks to SC and Toffee. We discussed the ?dressed to shoes? diktat and agreed to differ as usual. An even more new people joined us.

CelestialStarlight, KatherinClifton, Colourarc, are you in the UK? Flyladies are supposed to go to bed at 10.30 (regular midnight MNer here). We have a few mainland Europe dwellers, and one from Canada (who has disappeared again at the moment) thus making us a bit more of a 24 hour thread.

Linzer has had more disagreements with young guests over food and is starting to feel paranoid

PA has been tricked into extra pancakes by her loving DCs

Minda has been polishing the Aga, a very agreeable use for an E-cloth I think

Ellie has had nice weather (you couldn?t send dome of it to the South East could you) and as I type is at the X-factor Live show.

Makingchanges had an ant nightmare and got her 10m swimming certificate, well done

Toffee brought a good idea to the board with her ?before school reward chart?

Balinderrymum ? another one with great weather Envy reminded us it was the first day of spring. DS said this to me today too, certainly didn?t feel like it in these parts. Well done to DD on her jabs

MissJ ?s DD slept through the night! Well done DD. Things went down hill later with an unexpected parental visit though.

Cobwebs posted her regular very long list

Simone ? sent us more St Davids and got stuck into her paperwork

Itshappenedagain decided to use some unexpected free time to declutter her bedroom

Asinine joined us, she has got builders in fitting a stove, lovely, we love our woodburner.

Spiderbabymum, Funambulist and MRsRhettButler joined us too,

Feetheart has been doing her SAGE and other mysterious financial stuff

Niecie cleared out her car

Nicknacks had an extra child to look after today but still managed to get a good amount of things done

MollysChambers feels that slippers are better than lace up shoes, have to say I agree, though once shoes are on they tend to stay on in this house.

SC ? another one who has got her weeks confused!

Weblette, Swan and Toffee were waiting for school place allocations

Nettie was off to the dentist and trying to be brave

CHB slept all day but has a very bad head, sending you best wishes, don?t worry about Flying it can wait

Right, stopping there. I may not be able to keep this up all month!

Back in a minute with some links

Lovely Round up Whoknows

Good night all!

pushmepullyou · 01/03/2011 22:27

Evening all Smile and welcome to all the new flyers!

I must admit that having been relieved of the thread leading duties by the wonderful who knows I have availed myself of the priviledge of reading only the roundup today Blush

Quite a good day flying wise for me - plus a long very busy day at work

Washing done
Dishwasher done
Wash sofa cover done
clean kitchen done
tidy living room done

That's enough for me for one day. Sorry for the lack of personal messages, will go have a catch up with the thread and then off to bed Smile. Can't believe that a week from now I will have a new baby Shock

weblette · 01/03/2011 22:58

Dd got her first choice, phew! And even though we have had a glass or two this evening I have still made sure the sink is tidy - that's a first!!!
Think I'm going to like this - thanks for the warm welcome :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/03/2011 23:02

Oh, good, I make that a hat-trick of first choice schools for our thread today then!

OP posts:
Colourarc · 01/03/2011 23:02

whoknows I am in the UK but work evenings ~ was partying last night, work related, hence the wine & hics! Blush

will be shining sink before bed!
Tomorrow is an early start ~ we are having our front door sorted out ~ so early flying start!

night all, got my Brew see you in the morning!

missjulie · 01/03/2011 23:07

toffee thanks for the e-cloth info, need to look into that! Thanks too for the sleeping potion! More tonight please!

stillchuckingit - thanks for the mention re last night's good sleep!

WKWTTG - thanks for the Brew

MrsRhettButler · 01/03/2011 23:08

i'm a bit of a night owl but could definitely do with going to bed early Blush

missjulie · 01/03/2011 23:17

nettie !

linzer - yes, infuriating! I feel about 5 when with them! GRRR!

WKWTTG - bed at 10.30pm, you having a laugh?!!!! Grin Maybe we should start an insomniacs flying thread?! I too agree that slippers are best! Thanks too for a good round up!

Had a fairly productive morning - tidied up house, fed us, washed, dressed, sorted stuff for day, hoovered, went for walk to see chickens and horses, visited friend, then the Angry thing, not to be mentioned again! Grin Then dinner, into pjs, tidied kitchen, meals prep for tomorrow, clothes laid out for tomorrow, sink shined. Am not having a Wine Blush and DD is sleeping on the living room floor in her Blossom Farm comfy cosy seat thingy Blush too scared to lift her into her bed, in case i wake her!
Chatted to mates on-line, replied to texts, emails, FB messages, MN threads and messages. Now got my mob on silent ( and have texted my damn mother to tell her so!)
Afraid i haven't read the whole thread for today Blush - what a lot of posts! Just skimmed it really, sorry. Hardly any personals! Everyone does seem to have been busy though!
what now?
xx

missjulie · 01/03/2011 23:22

If anyone is up for a LATE night thread come over!

Celestialstarlight · 02/03/2011 00:00

Have taken only a few babysteps today. Managed to shine sink twice and keep the kitchen tidy and clean. Also did the dress to shoes slippers which i'm proud of given most days spent in pj's with illness. I'm also in the "no shoes in the house" camp, so slippers it is!

Didn't do the dining room or hallway decluttering as I tackled this last week and they are still in pristine conditionGrin. So just a quick vacuum and dusting there today.

PA so sorry to hear about DD's ME but I'm glad there is some improvement now. Such a terrible thing to have. I feel for her Sad. However Grin at your very mischevious children. I like their style.

Elliepac Laundry is my bug bear too. aaarrrggggg. I have mountains of the stuff. Washing mountains and ironing mountains = no clothes in drawers or wardrobes. Much time wasted rummaging for clean clothes Blush

Makingchanges Well done on your swimming! I wish I had the balls strength to confront my fears.

Whoknows Yip i'm in UK.

I'll catch up with you all tomorrow. See you soon Smile

missjulie · 02/03/2011 04:10

Had Wine earlier, see i posted that i was not having it! Oops! Typo! I lifted a zombified DD into her cot around 12.30, and she slept through!!! Why am i still up?! Insomniacs are us!
