Following on from the February Fledgling Flyers thread, welcome to March. This is the thread that follows the Flylady website (loosely) for getting your home decluttered and your housework into routines, whilst dispensing tea and chat freely.

A big thank you to PushMePullYou for leading us through February ably assisted by ToffeeFudgeCake. We had a huge influx of new posters as well, which was lovely, anyone else who is lurking, please say hello, you will be very welcome.

We have a fairly relaxed attitude to Flying and take some of the babysteps - such as getting dressed to lace-up shoes - with a pinch of salt. We also strongly advise against signing up for the FlyLady emails.

From the first of the month, we will be following Flylady's tips on restoring order to our homes, using one of the following methods:

  1. Babysteps
  2. Babysteps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. Babysteps + daily missions

Following the babysteps helps to establish daily routines and build a weekly plan.

If you are overwhelmed by the mess in your home, start with just one thing: shine your sink. It's amazing what you can achieve by just doing a bit at a time!

ColdHeartedBitch · 28/02/2011 16:27

I shall this only once for the newbies:

don't sign up for the fly lady emails EVER, unless you like spending hours clearing them out. which i suppose counts as decluttering but doesnt move you closer to being tidy.

Daily links to missions and babysteps are here. Focus on babysteps first. then add decluttering. Cant do missions when there is mess.

I have made this mistake sooooo many times. this month I am planning on only doing the babysteps again. Hopefully will get to grips with them this month so can declutter next month. once babystep done for day if i have time/motivation/energy i shall then declutter but not expecting miracles.

zonkin · 28/02/2011 16:31

I'd like to join this month. Have lurked in the past but it's time to roll up my sleeves and get on with it. I'm finding keeping on top of 3 kids and a big muddy dog takes most of my energy and the house just falls by the wayside. Feel quite overwhelmed by the state of the house but I'm determined to get to grips with it!

NettieISroundlikefiggypudding · 28/02/2011 17:18

whoknows love the title. Grin

Just checking in so i know where you all are. I haven't read 50 Shock posts on this thread!!! Wowzers!!

swanriver · 28/02/2011 17:37

done
a bag of clothes decluttered to charity shop
kitchen tidyish
sink shiny
several loads of laundry - not quite put away yet
2 hotspots
and a partial Home Bless
2 s & swipes
and a bit of meal planning/advance preparation
and good temper so far due to not feeling overwhelmed

all a bit haphazard methinks but better than nowt

swanriver · 28/02/2011 17:41

Zonkin welcome - it's nice to know there are others with 3 dcs, finding it muddy! It's muddy here even without the dog..

missjulie · 28/02/2011 18:56

Welcome MrsSharp and nicknacks - yes, of course you are welcome, and there is always point in trying! I am relatively new here too, so all us newbies can help each other too!!! Grin

Hello lovely ladies!
How is everyone today?

PA well done on the tidyitis! Hope it is contageous! I need some!!!!!!

Thanks linzer, shall keep looking! Don't want to miss you guys! I do go to one baby group still, on a Thursday morning, we go to the local hydrotherapy pool, which we really enjoy. I was just doing far too much, i really was, we were doing something each day, and i just ran myself into the ground!

My word, everyone has been busy today, makes me feel

chb - you poor love, still got a bad head
I woke up with a banging sore head today, but thankfully it only lasted for about an hour or so! Phew!

linzer, hope you are feeling less stressed hun! Love the comment from your child!!! (Awwww!)

swan - ballet, wow, how lovely!

So, today got off to a real BAD start! Poor DD woke at 3am screaming her lungs out, and crying, oh what crying! Those damn top teeth coming through, are really upsetting her, but only in the middle of the night. So, dosed with neurofen for kiddies, bonjela, chewed on a bicipeg, and on her cold teething ring/snail thing i keep in the fridge, and she had lots of lovely cuddles with her mummy, and that seemed to sort things! Didn't get to sleep, either of us until 5am!!!! So today off to a wonky start!!!
Our morning started at 2pm!!!
done list :
Both washed, dressed, fed. Sink shined. Hoovered. Neighbour popped in briefly. Went for a nice walk (At 5pm!) to see the chickens and horses, and got some lovely photos of a horse sticking his head right in the pram again to say hello to DD!!! Came home, had some soup, DD napping. Replied to various texts, emails, FB messages, and now find myself on here! Must get off my backside and go and do some stuff, plenty to do here! That's about it for us today so far i'm afraid, but then, we have only been on the go for around 4 1/2 hours!!!

Catch you all later
xx

nomoremagnolia · 28/02/2011 18:59

Hi, I thought it only polite to let you know I will be lurking and following along with you all :) I did start fly-ing a year or so ago but became so overwhelmed by emails I unsubscribed. Going to try again with you guys if that's ok? All I really remember from doing it before was shine your sink each night and swipe the bathroom in the morning.

weblette · 28/02/2011 19:02

Oh do I dare do this??? Our house so badly needs a good sort out and I'm hopeless at domestic stuff......

My first look at the FlyLady stuff was a few years ago and the daily insistence on wearing lippy wasn't my thing.

I will lurk with you ladies, if you don't mind :)

LilQueenie · 28/02/2011 19:34

Off to Dp's house until wednesday but so far today I have accomplished the following:

Done
bathroom sink, shower and toilet
Hung new shower curtain
bought food for dinner
changed and washed bedlinen
cleaned windows
taken 4 bags to charity shop

Wednesday I hope to do more laundry and clear all the kitchen.

Imnotaslimjim · 28/02/2011 19:41

Thanks for the welcome and the butt-kicking. I did half an hour in the kids room, which has got me heading in the right direction.

done
loo and bathroom clean
half hour in kids room
DS's bed changed
3 loads of laundry washed and dried

still to do
put laundry away
lay out clothes/uniforms for tomorrow
dishes to be washed

MarionCole · 28/02/2011 19:56

Hello :)

I have just handed my notice in at work and will have to ask the nice ladies who clean my house not to come anymore. So I have a month to get my routine up to scratch.

I FLEW when I was on mat leave a few years ago and I'm a big fan. I will be doing baby steps plus daily mission.

Sink shiny.

Need to clear the crap out of the lounge.

HystericalMe · 28/02/2011 20:01

Hello! I'm signing up. Might just lurk for a bit. Smile Am trying to do a spring clean at the mo.

MonkeyChicken · 28/02/2011 20:23

Oh I sooooo need a kick up the behind. I HATE tidying up, cleaning is not so bad. My teany, tiny house is soooo cluttered. DH is working tonight so ideal opportunity to crack on with some FLYing but um, I might just have a bath read a book and have an earlish night and start FLYING tomorrow. (See I'm crap. I've the motivation of a GNAT). I'll shine the sink before I go to bed. x

Makingchanges · 28/02/2011 20:34

Thanks for the thread Whoknows and welcome any newbies.

Not much flying done here as been at uni all day (12 hours from leaving to arriving home - its like a full time job Wink ) - got loads of work to do tonight too but will be back tomorrow as have a day off.

My aim this month is to do the daily missions - I have never got this yet and have been flying long enough that this should be second nature. (if I last a week at this i'd consider it an achievement)

Back tomorrow

NickNacks · 28/02/2011 20:45

Blardy Hell! I don't know if i can keep up with this thread! Grin

I have written my list for tomorrow and also an online shop coming Wednesday.

Eeek! I'm nervous that I won't stick to it again but try I must!

to all because I'm back off to read the whole thread Smile

Hello to Swan,Toffee, PMPY, MakingCHanges, SC, Cobwebs, MissJ

Phew, that?s a lot of people. Gives me a nice warm feeling knowing I am SO not alone with my cluttered house.

Well, apart from this thread, today I have done morning, afternoon and evening routines, school and Beaver runs, got car insurance quotes and shopped around for new gas and electric supplier, been to Sainsburys, done 2xwashing, tidied up the loft a bit, taken a car load of stuff to charity shop and tip and decluttered the dining room a bit. Also cleared a big pile of paperwork from the sofa and filled in what seemed like dozens of forms for school.

Back in a minute to post some links.
