Changing Bedding

victoriah3 · 10/02/2011 13:05

Have just heard a survey that says 1 in 20 of us only change our bedding twicw a year. How disgusting... remind me not to day ver at their homes. There is nothing nicer than gettting in to newly washed sheets. Who are these people? Come on own up how often do you change yours?

LessNarky - were you just Narky before?

I always loved your name..

What inspired it ?

LessNarkyPuffin · 10/02/2011 14:46

notwavingjustironing · 10/02/2011 14:48

Every Day ??

Bliss!!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 10/02/2011 14:49

fortnightly - slattern that i am i have to make a note on the calendar to remind me

LessNarkyPuffin · 10/02/2011 14:50

I was narky and then got very stroppy with someone for no good reason Blush. I changed to LessNarky to remind myself not to be a bitch.

Have you ever seen pictures of puffins heading back to the burrow with a mouth full of sand eels? That's how I feel tottering to the front door with arm fulls of shopping bags and the keys in my mouth Grin

notwavingjustironing · 10/02/2011 14:52

I always think puffins look narky - its a brilliant comparison

Anyway, back to bedding...

Clean = good
Twice yearly = minging

LessNarkyPuffin · 10/02/2011 14:52

And, Notwavingjustironing, you have a rather excellent name yourself.

notwavingjustironing · 10/02/2011 14:55

well, NarkyWaving just didnt seem right....

IsItMeOr · 10/02/2011 15:02

Wow, I'm a slattern, as our bedding is changed very infrequently as we're really struggling to keep up with housework in our sleep-deprived state.

But I'm honestly shocked at the idea that it's reasonable to launder sheets every day or two - just seems like a a waste of the planets resources to me...

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 15:08

Ah IsIt, that is the dirty scrubber's excuse, the planet...

LessNarkyPuffin · 10/02/2011 15:22

Dirty Eco scrubber Grin No, I think that everyday is probably more than is necessary. But oh so nice...

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 15:23

Ah well, but I don't have a dishwasher and have solar panels - does that let me off?

marriednotdead · 10/02/2011 15:34

It's weekly here.

Used to be less for the DSs but now they're sweaty teens older, we are strict about it. Does reduce the 'eau de boy' a bit.

itshappenedagain · 10/02/2011 16:35

YUCK! twice a week here wednesdays and sundays. possibly more in the summer when weather is warmer and i can put them on th line to dry.

sheeplikessleep · 10/02/2011 16:38

weekly here, twice a week for ds, who seems to develop slobber stains on his (he's 3 btw) [vom]

BadRoly · 10/02/2011 16:39

I am probably one of the monthly people shrugs

boobellina · 10/02/2011 16:46

ahh this has confirmed it am a domestic slattern. Not really sure that it needed to be confirmed but since I only remember to change the sheets every fortnight-ish I am hanging my head in shame.

I have also to confess that I have only ironed adult bedding once in my entire life - felt lovely but complete waste of time when was a tangled mess in the morning. When DD was all shiny and new all of her bedding was ironed all beautified but now she is a sleeping gymnast too there is no point.

Off now to strip the beds - might even get round to putting clean bedding on too!

IsItMeOr · 10/02/2011 18:58

Happy to be a dirty eco scrubber Grin.

GetOrf - my understanding is that an energy efficient dishwasher, washed full, is more environmentally friendly than washing the equivalent load by hand.

Solar panels? Don't know really.

dexter73 · 10/02/2011 19:15

I've never quite believed that it is more environmentally friendly to use a dishwasher rather than wash by hand. Surely manufacturing a dishwasher and then shipping it over from China must produce tonnes of carbon? I think it is a ploy by the dishwasher manufacturers to make people feel it is alright to have one!

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 19:24

Don't dishwashers use loads and loads of water.

I don't care know really.

gregssausageroll · 10/02/2011 19:33

Once a week here. Sometimes less if we've been unwell or hot and sweaty in Summer.

I love clean fresh sheets. Never iron though.

Rank at the thought of 2 times year.

IsItMeOr · 10/02/2011 20:12

Dishwashers don't use loads of water these days, hence less than washing by hand.

But dexter may have a point Grin. I don't care know really.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/02/2011 20:20

Gosh, once a weeK!!! Wish I had the energy to do this. I hate making it too - super kingsize. Only got 2 sets to play with. Ironing the duvet cover is an adventure.

Every other day???? why???? madness.

Once a fortnight for me. Childrens prob the same unless wet.

talkingnonsense · 10/02/2011 20:41

I think it depends if you sleep naked or in pyjamas- if the latter it doesn't need doing as often as if the former!
