Moorcroft Lamp look-a-likes

vintageteacups · 15/01/2011 12:13

Hi - I absolutely love Morrcroft lamps, however I don't love the price!

Have tried to google moorcroft style maps but it only seems to come up with the real thing.

Can anyone recommend a make/shop where I could get a lamp that is similar in style to Moorcroft but for under £100?

Many thanks

They are all so expensive - I don't get it!

Bumping for you...am also very interested as would love to get my Mum some Moorcroft lookey-likey for her 60th B'day.

thanks Holly - I've been googling on and off and still have come up with nothing- although I really like the JL one above.

That's fab!
Have saved to faves - plenty there to choose from at a reasonable price too. Smile

You can buy loads of cheap shit on ebay, I used to look after their intellectual property rights on there and there are all kinds of replicas if you want to fund fraud.

Knock yourself out.

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 22:10

Unable to tell whether or not you're joking, I don't want fraudulent copies of Moorcroft -just a similar style of pottery lamp that doesn't cost £400!!!

Love that first rose one surryfunge - thanks!

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 22:17

Aha - have now just googled 'vase table lamps' - brings up moer of what I want.

I just wasn't sure what to call them.

One does not want 'cheap shit' for one's Mother's 60th Birthday BelleDeCinsault Grin

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 22:21

BelledeCinsault, eh?

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 22:30

I think BdC might be a tad confused.

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 22:33

Hmm - perhaps it was my didgy-sounding post. Now I realise it says 'look-a-likes' which could be meant as illegal copies.

I obviously didn't mean that at all Smile

OP posts:
scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 22:38

I think BDC is the only one who thought that. I read it that you like the Moorcroft style and were not looking for rip offs.

BelleDeCinsault · 17/01/2011 22:39

I'm not in the slightest bit confused - how silly you should think that.

If you want Moorcroft Lamp look-a-likes you clearly do want the effect without the prices as stated by the op?
The Moorcroft style was fairly unique due to the processes of production.
Unfortunately nowadays it is commonplace to see look-a-likes and these breaches of intellectual property rights are taken seriously by trading standards.

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 22:40

I think you are talking shite BDC. It is clear that the OP wants a flowery ceramic base for a lamp.

BelleDeCinsault · 17/01/2011 22:42

Sorry vintageteacups but the lookalikes of Moorcroft are a huge and frankly fraudulent industry. Its very distasteful.
I like a bargain as much as the next person but some of the rip offs are blatant.

BelleDeCinsault · 17/01/2011 22:43

No, scurryfunge I'm not.

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 22:45

We are not talking about copies and rip offs. Moorcroft cannot own the ceramic flowery lamp rights.

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 22:48

What???

No BDC - I don't want a lamp that looks just like a Moorcroft lamp. I want a lamp that is shaped like a vase - Moorcroft was a name I knew of and which I liked the style of. I didn't want one that was a copy; just a vase lamp, as scurry and everyone said.

ie: like this one

Well of course not, but the op specifically asked for a 'Moorcroft Lamp look-a-likes'.

A look a like is a breach of the intellectual property rights and whilst I appreciate on clarification from the OP that is not what she wants, the thread title is not unambiguous. Hence my contribution which is neither confused nor shite.

Thank you.
