Moorcroft Lamp look-a-likes

vintageteacups · 15/01/2011 12:13

Hi - I absolutely love Morrcroft lamps, however I don't love the price!

Have tried to google moorcroft style maps but it only seems to come up with the real thing.

Can anyone recommend a make/shop where I could get a lamp that is similar in style to Moorcroft but for under £100?

Many thanks

Yeah we are going to look for some fraudulent Cath Kidston tea towels next - I have a sneaking suspicion that Dunelm Mills have got some flowery look a likes in.

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 23:37

ooh - I love dunelm!

The only fraudulent thing I have ever made a complaint about is a nearby shop selling reduced price baby formula.

Other than that - whoosh over my head - I didn't even consider that lamps being sold in John lewis wouldn't be the real deal.

Changing the subject scurryfunge?

More fool you vintage - just don't buy from his/her links.

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 23:39

Don't be fooled. They are a cover operation for a particularly nasty outfit.

scurryfunge · 17/01/2011 23:39

Yeah, don't buy from John Lewis -they is well bad.

BelleDeCinsault · 17/01/2011 23:42

Hahaha! Are you well drunk scurryfunge? Grin

vintageteacups · 17/01/2011 23:43

Oh I see what you're implying now......(takes off thick as a plank Monday hat)you mean you think the links Scurry put are dodgy ones. well...........I'll risk it - they're really nice lamps Smile

Right, it really is time for bed (in fact, lights out)

Thank you BDC, you have cheered me up.

Whatever vintage, its actually not my profession any more, I didn't like dealing with fraudulent scum on a daily basis.

Do whatever fits with your conscience.

S'not my problem.

SacharissaCripslock · 17/01/2011 23:57

I love this thread. Grin

BTW, vintage, you have crap taste in lamps.

Grin
vintageteacups · 18/01/2011 00:19

Oh dear - another person who hasn't yet learnt how to be kind when other peoples' taste isn't the same as your own.

Luckily, I'm am self-assured enough not to care whether you actually like the lamps I commented on.Grin

I was just teasing you. Which is why I put a Grin

Sorry for offending you.

The thread had made me laugh - especially at Bella but clearly my tone was all wrong.

BelleDeCinsault · 18/01/2011 00:25

Oh! vintage, you think it is funny that you post on mumsnet asking for ripoffs? I gave YOU the benefit of the doubt you cheapskate carboot saler.

I'm sorry your taste doesn't stretch to appreciating the difference between frauds and the real thing. You buy your cheap tat. I hope you love it!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 18/01/2011 02:41

Vintageteacups - this is the funniest thread I have ever read on MN! I can't wait to buy my Mum some lamps and have a laugh every time I walk into her living room and see them!

woollyideas · 18/01/2011 07:02

Whatever you do, don't buy ANYTHING floral ANYWHERE. All floral stuff is Cath Kidston knock off and is helping to support the South American drug cartels who have a profitable sideline in dodgy textiles.

Vintage - When you find your John Lewis floral vase don't forget to write Moorcroft on its base in felt tip pen to fool the Flog It experts when your mum sells it in ten years time to impress your mum.

vintageteacups · 18/01/2011 10:32

Belle - what on earth are you going about???
I clearly did NOT ask for Moorcroft 'rip-offs' as you say.

You know full well I wanted vase base lamps that are similar in style to those lamps that Moorcroft produce.

e thinks you really are taking the mick now Wink

Please don't call me a cheapskate carboot saler - I haven't once called you anything.

And, for the record, what is wrong with car boot sales (I have never been to one but I'm sure you can find some nice antiques).

My interior style is based loosely on antique/vintage pieces and as we are moving into a much larger, older house, I am trying to furnish it appropriately to look in line with the style of the building. I have just bought two lamp tables and now need two lamps to place on them (It's not me, it's Holly who is buying one for her mum).

Please stop talking twaddle about copied lamps - it's irrelevant.

vintageteacups · 18/01/2011 10:32

oh - and I really don't like Cath Kidston stuff anyway.

Just in case someone should scroll down through the hilarity looking for an answer to the original question:
The Moorcroft 'look-a-like' factory is called Old Tupton Ware. They have not been prosecuted for 'stealing intellectual property'
Belle-de-Concealed-Insult, what a nasty piece of work you are!

Cutiepiesaw · 10/02/2025 07:53

Old tuptonware is my preference.
