I've only just got in Shock spent morning with or around ds1.

house post halloween bombsite ---
managed to get all children to bed in good time though
have friends round for a mini-halloween party
go trick or treating
children enjoyed making labels for the food - "ears" marshmallows "toenail clippings" grated cheese that sort of thing Grin

so now will put all halloweeen stuff in a nice box to go in attic for next year.

next stop Xmas.
Spent morning in Westfield waiting for ds who was having a banding test (don't ask) and looked gingerly at xmas stuff...lego etc

so two hours of housework blessing now

gave up and bought myself a pair of fluffy crocs Grin as my feet were hurting again.

Nuttybear · 01/11/2010 13:21

Hi Swan I'm a martyr to my feet wear fitflops and Merrell. Looking for Fitflop slippers!
It looks like you had fun.
W/M X 2 done
Clean linen on both beds 1 done
Clean bathroom & downstair loo. done
Need to really stop wasting time and plan the week. Smile

swanriver · 01/11/2010 14:11

oh dear, friend's kids now NOT coming round after school so no reason to clean house Sad[lazy emoticon]

still have collected halloween stuff, but I think they will want to show it to dh when he returns...[hhmm] black feathers all over the house

next week ds1 has his leg op and out of action for three weeks, so I need to do a lot of planning this week like you Nutty just it has to be stuff which are errands/busy body type stuff, rather than deliveries/pottering...ifysim as I'll be stuck indoors for a long stretch anyway.

wendyhappysmile · 01/11/2010 19:03

Hiya ladies
LOL swan at fluffly crocs! Grin
DC in bed, kitchen tidy, time to get on the sofa! Getting off is an effort these days!

Busy week this week, usual activities, then DS's birthday, Bonfire party at MIL, DS's party, haircut, friend's birthday ... don't know if I'll find the energy.

Went to buy a new Moses basket mattress this morning - finally. There doesn't look anything wrong with the old one really, but I bought a new one for DD and they advise it, so hey ho! Need a new cot mattress too, but going to wait on that ... baby won't be in cot at first anyway!

DS's birthday nearly all organised, need to get food for his birthday tea (just family, he has requested cheese and marmite sandwiches, chips, salad and sticky toffee pud and ice cream Grin - but the chips, he stipulates, can't be from the shop, Mummy, but homemade oven chips LOL), shop for food for the party, which my mum is preparing, bless her. Two cakes to make - much easier isn't it if the party and birthday are on the same day! I am having a go at fondant icing a cake this year, usually just go for buttercream extravaganzas, so am glad of the practice.

BB tomorrow

Nuttybear · 01/11/2010 19:31

Evening all
WendyYou sound very sorted.Envy I'm a bit scared of decorating cakes as I would go too much effort and it would look so rubbish. Did you do classes in decorating?
swan The leg seems to be an on-going problem. When does he have go in?
Today I
W/M X3 done
Clean linen on both beds done
empty D/W (Mum did it) done
Clean bathroom & downstair loo done
make -fish- shepherds pie
Hoovered the house done
Dusted the whole House(a bit of fake cleaning going on with clear surfaces wiped nothing moved Blush Now I am clear to enjoy the rest of the week!
Going to tell DS his story then play on the Wii fit. A bit cross with the machine as it keeps tell me my age is 62! Shock no matter how many times I delete & reset the machine and redo the tests Blush

wendy you sound very busy girl!
nutty are you off work this week?
swan poor ds, will he be off school again?
prof having trouble picturing a car disguised as a reindeer Hmm.

Have been budgeting. Rather worryingly I seem to have spent 1/2 my Xmas budget already (and only have 2.5 presents in the bag Hmm). Did buy a lovely HUGE snow globe from TKmaxx on sat though (they have really lovely Xmas decs in).

Jas · 01/11/2010 21:24

Lost you off my threads I'm on!

DP is off work and pulled down the kitchen ceiling at the weekend, so normal FLY is scrapped for now.

Will try and check in tomorrow.

scattyspice · 02/11/2010 07:44

Oh no jas did he mean to do that! Shock.

Grinprof, cunning!

I don't think I need to worry about banding yet then.

Today:
raining
laundry
plan my christmas gift list (to avoid further money wastage Hmm).

Nuttybear · 02/11/2010 08:45

Morning all Off to the garden centre to get some tulips and some netting to stop the squirrels from digging them up!
prof It sounds to me like you've got a messy house because you have a life. I on the other hand have a tidy house today but feeling sad. I didn't sleep well last night.Sad
I was thinking about sending Christmas cards to people I don't see from one year to the next and maybe I should drop them. Then my stupid thought pattern goes that I'm a crap friend (I never remember Birthdays or send out cards to their kids!)Then I couldn't sleep thinking that I deserve not to have friends as I don't look after the friendship.
OR have those friendships taken their course.
OR do I spend more time on the internet than talking to real life friends Confused.......I really don't have any major worries do I[emm] BUT I HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE! Go figure! [emm] Now I remember why I got into Flying.... becasue my house was too messy to invite anyone around! Hey! Any Doctors in the house Confused
Right garden centre I can talk to the plants!

Hello all. Like Jas I've had to hunt you down a bit! I also need to find the thread from last week and read the rest.

Nuttybear Thanks for the thread. I have a rule for overthinking. You can think those thoughts but only between 9.35am and 9.40am on a Thursday. Keep telling yourself it isn't your alloted time and so you're not allowed to think about it until then. When the day and time comes you'll forget to remember (iyswim) and then you've got to tell yourself that that's it for another week. You should soon stop the thoughts. I don't sleep well most nights so you're not alone and I can sympathise. Hey, ho!

Right. Someone is due in about half an hour so I need to tidy up. Back later!

swanriver · 02/11/2010 10:00

nutty party for lost friends perhaps? always a good way to get everyone together, on some pretext of some mutual friend's whatever...Just like weddings used to be...[sob] that great catchall occasion. Now I fear it's funerals..I find them full of old friends and acquaintances..

But I do agree, it is exactly the same here, although I find Xmas is the worst time to renew these friendships. In fact much better to get in touch with them NOW.

Dh hs returned, which is something GrinHowever, his knight in shining armour return axed my more prosaic plans to get PE kits ready last night, and this morning has been DISASTROUS, with ds2 having a tantrum about some lost school green football shirt?
How can I tell the difference between all these garish outfits [hangry]

Ooh ds did a banding test yest. It is to stop "good" schools creaming off the "clever" students, so you cannot fail the test. They have to take 25%above average, 50% middle, 25% below average. So it is quite relaxing really, ds enjoyed it. No writing just multiple choice.

LOL soothsaying Wiifit Nutty
Scatty I really need to set my Xmas budget. Actually, I don't think I can face working out what the total will be. I think it is basically Dh's xmas bonus. If he gets one.
Wendy you can buy ready made fondant icing!Blushbut what a connoisseur your ds is already of homemade food Smile
Jas very dynamic dh! At least you know it's falling down, in advance.

swanriver · 02/11/2010 10:52

Nutty Hurrah! I've sent an email to a long lost friend (well I saw him in Feb - was it?)and his wife on Facebook, that's a start isn't it.
better than just receiving one of their rather strange Xmas cards (which are taken in August)

swanriver · 02/11/2010 11:16

Sent e-mail to another friend who is not on facebook and whom I last saw in May. Feeling very pleased. Hope they reply Blush I don't really deserve it.

The other thing which I've noticed Nutty is that my parents are now friends again with all the friends they had when they were in their 20's and 30's despite a huge gap when they never saw them in their 40's. It was just a dc thing. They socialised with dcs' friends' parents for ten years and then reverted Shock
It is really very odd, to see this group of 70/80 year olds and to know they were all at college/first job together Grin Of course they have other new friends too...
so there is hope!

Nuttybear · 02/11/2010 12:11

Cheered up now I have brought some plants and going to have coffee with a very good friend (she likes the fact I'm strange)
I think Swan & Prof are right I need events to get people together. Just coffee is never enough to bond people. I'm going to a charity do that a friend asked me to go to. So charity events are good to get involved in as people often come along to support your fundraising efforts. Prof Do you live the other side of the Watford Gap? As I get the nervous going over the river let along past the M25! I suppose make a new friend now and it could last you another 20-30 years!
Going to send an e-mail now to my mate in Canada Smile

OP posts:
swanriver · 02/11/2010 12:21

strange Nutty are you any stranger than anyone else you meet? Everyone Iknow is slightly strange. Sometimes they try to hide it Wink

Sent ANOTHER email - garrulousnous comes in waves followed by hermit like seclusion...Blush

off out now on long errand

OverflowingMum · 02/11/2010 14:16

afternoon all
have skived off left work an hour early today to compensate for the ridiculous number of early starts and late finishes I have done recently. Seems I am attempting to do a full time job in part tiem hours again...sigh...
anyway...was meant to be doing useful household tasks before collecting the kids but appear to be wasting time on tinternet!

swan hope planning for ds op is going well

nutty I am rubbish with friendships...just are never enough hours in the day...I should make more effort

simply great tip for worrying thoughts

prof reindeer car??????Hmm LOL

jas Shock at kitchen ceiling

scatty have also never heard of banding...but seems my kids have survived so far without it LOL

wendy just stay on the sofa for the next few weeks...easier that way!

well, house a tip...as is permenant state these days. Am thinking of going back to baby baby steps and rebuilding my routine to fit with new working regime....

car still porrly in garage, so have only one car this week which is tricky as there is only one bus a fortnight to our village LOL
Hoefully may have gathered enough funds to get it sorted though and it will be returned soon...
but to make matters worse DH car had a flat tyre this morning...as did the spare (which he never sorted after his last flat) so I was not impressedAngry cue lots of comlpex negotiations and taxi ordering and children delivered late to school....ho hum

on a positive not I have just bought a pair of trousers 2 sizes smaller than I was in June..and they fit whoohoo!!

am off to see pros[ective new childminder tonight as ds2 is still really not liking nursery....hope she seesm good...not sure if he'd prefer her, think he just wants to stay home really...don't we all...
right off to drink cuppa,

will bbl as I resolve to be better FLYfriend from now on...(again...sigh)

OverflowingMum · 02/11/2010 14:17
