hope meeting with childminder bears fruit - wasn't childminder your original plan OFM ? 2 size smaller trousers - full of admiration - mind you, mine are falling down now - always a good sign Grin

done lots of errands on foot, think there is now enough food for next week or so [cr**p menu plan emoticon] and picked up new music for violin (ds1) and piano (me) from Kew - bit of a hike - although I now see I could go there a bit more often as it really isn't far...

now I'm exhausted again Blush tea and must get on...
tonight lots of civic duty stuff, not looking forward to it.

Nuttybear · 02/11/2010 16:32

Swan Trousers size sounds good.No thumbs up emotion!
Prof Kingston.
Jas Ceiling!!! Shock Hope it's for the greater good.
OFM I repeat messy house means I hope your having a good time at work. I agree in my old job was trying to do full-time job part-time not easy at all.
See ya later going to play on the wii fit and copy swan

You seem pretty social to me Nutty! All my friends are school gate mums or work people (and the Avon lady Smile).

Hope the childminder suits him better OFM.

Have fallen behind due to schoolgate mum friend stopping for cuppa after school Smile.

OverflowingMum · 02/11/2010 21:03

evening all
swan yes CM was original plan, but then CM I had in mind couldn't have hime 2 days, so he would have had to go to 2 different CM, which sounded not great, so we went for nursery, thought he'd enjoy it but clearly not...

scatty cuppa with friend sounds nice Grin

well, back form Childminder visit - she seemed really nice.Much the best of the 4 I have seen. Very experienced, lovely homely environment. She can have ds2 hours required and collect girls from school on a weds....
I think he would like it better there...and she could collect him from the school nursery when he starts mornings there next Sep, so would be some continuity for him...tempted to go with it, but worried he wont settle there either....sigh...decisions decisions....

right, off to think about doing useful things...bbtomorrow Grin

dylsmum1998 · 02/11/2010 21:13

evening all, quickly scanned through so I don't totally loose it.

prof i forget which you are using now, car sounds very festive!

Nutty I am crap at keeping up with friends life is just too hectic!

OFM is it possible that you try ds for short times at cm before you move him from nursery then see how you feel?

can't remember anymore right now sorry.
House is just about surviving, am supposedly doing lesson plans right now, but feeling tired so might finish the line of thought I am in, think staying after school for a while will be more effective than coming home and doing it at bed time. May give it a go tomorrow

BBL must go and finish this bit at least

wendyhappysmile · 02/11/2010 22:02

SimplySparkling · 03/11/2010 13:42

Good afternoon all!

I'm rather lacking motivation today. I've done bits and bobs but I don't know if I can face tackling the absolutely massive ironing pile. I need to make some puddings for tonight as the student currently living with us has her birthday today. I think I'll do that now, then the ironing. I'd better have lunch at some point, too.

swan I liked the "allergic reaction" comment. Smile

Nutty I'm glad the thread contributors help you. This thread sure helps me!

swanriver · 04/11/2010 09:21

we ran out of underpants this morning Hmm
dh not pleased with laundry situation

today I need to stop getting distracted and do some cleaning.

friend at Brownies was telling me at length about historical "American Girl" dolls, I so want to buy dd one, only she doesn't like dolls...Sad only bears. So have just been looking at website. They have American Revolution dolls, Civil War dolls, 1940's an 1930's dolls. I so want one!
Instead have bought her a flashing scooter, to replace her broken scooter, for Xmas and an electronic hamster.

oh dear, distracted again...see you later.

Jas hope ceiling dust has subsided Shock

wendyhappysmile · 04/11/2010 09:54

swan the American girl dolls sound great, hope laundry is getting rebooted
Nutty hope you're feeling better. Homemade fondant icing contains raw egg so no good for me, it had to be ready made Grin

DS's birthday, he loved his presents and went to school excited. Parent eve last night, nice things were said about both Grin

Well I have today's cake in the oven which is going to be a chocolate hedgehog, but I made the mistake of opening the chocolate fingers ready to ice it ... good job I bought a few boxes! Blush Other cake for party on Saturday also in the oven. Need to get going in a bit and prepare tonight's birthday tea! My DS is so spoilt, he has requested home baked bread Shock cheese sandwiches, homemade oven chips, salad and home made sticky toffee pudding ... honestly! I have spoilt him so he won't eat shop bought!!!!

OFM think childminder sounds best idea, they usually let you try for an hour or two first, and it doesn't sound like you have much choice anyway as nursery isn't suiting him? I'd go for it and see how he settles.

Need to clean my hall and downstairs bathroom. DH said he is coming home at lunchtime (I am out for a friend's birthday lunch) so am going to leave him a list including vacuuming the stairs and upstairs!!

BBL

Nuttybear · 04/11/2010 10:16

OFM I bet your dh is very good at dancing Grin mine is rubbish, I have to dance for both of us at parties Grin However he's good fun in a pub!

Wendy brilliant! glad all went smoothly.
Nutty our favourite potions were made with dry Birds custard sachets which we used to mix with mud Shock I think what we craved was colour in our potions, and were desperately disappointed when blue petals didn't make blue potions etc etc...

Felt very depressed about parents' meetings last night. Not in the sense that they are doing BADLY just none of them are very valued members of class....The only person who is really doing well is Ds2 - which is very odd as he's meant to be delinquent Shock Anyway teacher said he wasn't in slightest bit disruptive (compared to last year's teacher who said he was) apart from pushing his chair too close to other chilren. Dd spends all her time chatting in class or giving up, and writes a language which is parallel to ours but not a single word is spelt correctly Hmm and Ds1 is skimming everything and apparently "lonely".

Anyway ds1 is off for next two weeks recoverign from having pins taken out on Monday so maybe I will try and get him back on track, invite some friends round for him, try and get him a bit more enthusiastic about knowledge.

SimplySparkling · 05/11/2010 11:44

Hello to all.

I don't know what to say that doesn't sound trite swan. The student living with us was saying yesterday that she used to talk a lot in class and now she is doing teacher training she is seeing the problems that result from another perspective! I see that your daughter is 8 yrs. Does she like reading? My dd used to spell things phonetically in English because she went to a Welsh medium school. She outgrew it. Does your dd's teacher say she'll improve in time? Are they doing something at school to help or suggesting spellings for you to do at home? I think your ideas of encouraging ds1 to have friends visit at home and to try to get him more enthusiastic about knowledge are good. In the past I've taken dd or ds to the library if I've known they're going to be off school for a bit and if that's not been possible, then I've picked up 6 or so books for them. Sometimes the latter is better as I choose new topics or authors and they branch out a bit.

Sorry, that's very long. I'll sign off now and I'll be back later!
