Morning all

OP posts:
swanriver · 05/10/2010 12:22

had a depressing morning.
fridge is cleaned out, but dd in a foul mood. Picking fights, trying to get me to take her swimming (she is meant to be ill Shock admitted she was trying to make me cry Confused refusing to do anything with me - books games drawing - nil, but following me round the house whining and crying.

Luckily I'm not under any pressure - I have to keep remembering this - I don't need to get anywhere, do anything in particular, but she clearly is and it's not just now (when dh is ill) but all the time - feels like that way for last five years Sad..how can I reboot our bad "dynamic" for want of a better word?? Any pyschotherapists out there?
Where is Nutty when you need her? Hmm

Might try sending her back to school this afternoon, but she seems genuinely ill just to confuse things...

swanriver · 05/10/2010 13:26

the usual storm in a a teacup! Dd has now gone back to school for the afternoon as she was desperate to do PE and Gaelic football, followed by swimming. She claimed her sore throat was almost gone Hmm She also drew a beautiful picture of a poodle in a bad mood for me Confused
I give up Grin, and tomorrow I have to take ds2 back to the ed pysch..wish me luck with my demented family..

now to do some more chores

scattyspice · 05/10/2010 16:02

Maybe they can analyse 2 for the price of 1 swan Wink.

Hi EV/Tonto - how's it going?

jas hope you were 'company ready'!

To do:
laundry
wash up
ds/dd competition
xmas list / work out budget Shock

Jas · 05/10/2010 17:25

I'm all ready. Guests are running late and still not here. Grr

Kids are in for a late night I think. We'll be eating at Ds' bedtime.

SimplySparkling · 05/10/2010 17:40

Good afternoon all.

I sympathise swan. Sorry I have no advice whatsoever. I don't know if I'm managing very well with my own dcs atm and, to be fair, apart from occasional dippiness, ds is a doddle. I might not be saying that soon as I'm going to be helping him to learn to drive. He turns 17 shortly. Yikes!
I've missed something. Why did you say it's not fair that I'm hoovering out the car? Is it a cop out for cleaning the oven or whatever the day's task really is?

MNTotoro · 05/10/2010 18:08

Aw, thanks Jas.

Simply - in your era I would have been Satin or FGS - cant quite remember.

Scatty - I'm fine thanks. Although DDs (6 and 3) playing up a bit tonight...just because they can Hmm

I'm a bit out of the loop with Flylady and must confess I have recently got a cleaner as I'm working part-time now. It will help get the basics done and hopefully mean I can finally start getting rid of some of the crap we have accumulated with the kids.

swanriver · 05/10/2010 23:13

simply goodness, that's a lot of bedmaking!
the hoovering thing was merely a reference to the fact that you had moved on from indoor hoovering to the higher realm of car hoovering (which I think I manage about once a year, if that)

children are asleep now, that's all I can say. According to dh they were not in a good mood at bedtime.
I went to PTA after long absence, quite fun really, the magic of Xmas Fair and all that...I feel quite enthusiastic about Xmas suddenly - much discussion about there needed to be TWO SANTAs so he could work in shifts..

swanriver · 05/10/2010 23:19

MNTotoro I did use to have a cleaning lady a very long time ago when the twins were little, and the strange thing was...it was terribly stressful. Possibly because the house was so disorganised. I could never let her in half the rooms. I used to rush around like mad cleaning/sorting the house before she came, and then there was never much for her to do Confused I think the end I used to ask the cleaning lady to sit with the twins so that I could clean the house myself.
All very strange. I'm sure you are much better at making the most of the help.

SimplySparkling · 06/10/2010 09:24

Bore da! Good morning!

I was woken up by dh's snoring last night and I had two things going round and round in my head until I managed to sleep again. One was trying to work out EV's old identity! I didn't manage it so I'm going to do some searching so that I know who I'm talking to. Smile

swan I get it now! We'd taken my car on hols in the summer and I hadn't cleaned it inside since then so it was really dirty. I like doing outdoor stuff as my dog plays ball at the same time. I also count it as exercise which is handy when I'm deciding whether or not I can have a glass of wine in the evening. Smile

Right. Today's jobs:-
~ paperwork
~ ironing
~ laundry
~ maybe something outdoors if I can find something.

See you later when I can report on progress.

funtimewincies · 06/10/2010 09:43

Hello. Please could I stay a while?

  • sink cleaned (it's mocking me now)
  • downstairs hoovered and kitchen floor swept.

(praying that ds2 sleeps that long)

Nuttybear · 06/10/2010 09:59

Hi funtimes Jump right in!

My Ds's 6th Birthday and I have done nothing towards it Shock
List later and I must crack on I've been on the 'CB' threads too long Shock

funtimewincies · 06/10/2010 13:18

Ouch, buckets of sympathy to you.

swanriver · 06/10/2010 13:29

wow - you've never had a filling Wendy Shock believe me you have missed nothing Grin
Much sympathy from me MM- I've had lots, such a relief to know problem sorted though..

back from CAMHS(sp?)for ds2's assessment. He was assessed for "wiring" problems. He is a "6". Asperger's is rated as a "7" Autism would be a "10" - so he has no formal diagnosis of Asperger's, but is borderline. That's fine Smile
Except they now won't provide any help with his acknowledged "wiring" problems. Except say the school should provide a nurturing policy. Ahem. Looking forward to that then Hmm

He's gone back to school, in an excellent mood - so easy to deal with compared to poor ddd Sad

Nutty have a wonderful birthday party, I like your jar idea. I bet you are very good at making people feel at home!

swanriver · 06/10/2010 13:32

funtime welcome - sorry to plunge you into my domestic detail Blush

swanriver · 06/10/2010 13:36

LOL the Birthday Cake Nuttyit does do one's head in doesn't it. One of the things I love about ds2 is however badly iced the cake was, he always seemed to know what it was meant to represent.

MNTotoro · 06/10/2010 16:09

Swan - glad your DS appointment went well.

My mouth is no longer numb. Ouch. I wih I still couldnt feel it.

SimplySparkling · 06/10/2010 19:18

I'm back just briefly to say that I walked two dogs until they were puffing almost as much as me Smile ; did several loads of laundry and about an hour or so of ironing. Oh dear, that doesn't look like very much, does it? I know I cleaned the kitchen too and made a Lakeland order up.

MNT I hope you're feeling a bit better by now.

swan Good luck with things. My friend had to doggedly persist with the schools to get the best for her sons. She did it, though, and I'm sure you will, too! Oh, and one of her children is in Uni, one is doing A levels and the other one is doing fine in secondary school, so it has all worked out!

Nuttybear · 06/10/2010 20:11

Swan It sounds like you've had an emotionally tiring day. Glad it went well.
MNT I'm sure I had my teeth filled as a kid so that Dentist made -up their wages. Glad to say dentist seem a lot better. If you need to have a tooth out I recommend Spainish Dentists!

Well Ds's party went well as it wasn't raining they played in the garden making strange potions! Strange though the girls were naughtier than the boys!!!!
Simply Just doing the ironing is a big achivement in my book Smile
funtime Hope you had a good day with us SmileGet jars out of shed
Shopping
Filljarswithsweets&toy (instead of party bags!)Didn't work!
Make the Birthday Cake never happend
I need tips on party planning I brought the cake instead which wasn't as tasty
Well happy boy in bed and not too much clean-up as I cheated and just bought food for the party (Got to be more realist about timing next year to save money!
Have a good night Should finish cleaning before DH comes home from parents evening and he'll think the party was a breeze!Hmm

wendyhappysmile · 07/10/2010 09:22

nutty glad the party went well, as long as fun was had that's all that matters! I am super organised at party planning - my DS is 6 on 4 Nov and I have done his pass the parcel, party bags, have a box all ready with knife for cake, candles, music, prizes, crisps and breadsticks etc - and a list for my Mum of what to make for the party food and what the schedule is Grin. But then I am having a baby in 7 weeks!! Grin so I have to be organised. DD is 4 on 22 Nov and have finished hers too! Lucky my Mum and MIL are doing the party food though! I will just have cakes to bake and ice.

Not sure what to do today. Going to do essential chores and see where that gets me timewise.

swan sympathy re: DS, life is a bit torrid for you lately. hugs
