Welcome to the September 2010 Fledgling Flying thread!

This is where from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of the Fat Fairy, with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation along the way. (More info available here! )

Many thanks to our previous splendiforous thread leader Ellie for guiding us through July and August and to her dynamic deputy, the one and only PA. You've both made it a lot of fun!

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach (and don't worry - we are all at different stages):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

Together we can do it! All newcomers welcome!

its finished and in the washing machine, finally. Was up til 3:30am and tbh I am also too old to bge up that late. Especially with a ds that demands attention at 7am to the point where u are awake and then wants nothing to do with u. I have gone on strike there are new house rules for weekend mornings.

People are very busy this weekend. Weather is better here but torential rain last night has shown a guttering problem that will need to get sorted urgently.

Today's list:
finish present done
Wash and tumble present washing
wrap present and attach card
Wash 2 loads of bedding 1st on to dry
Wash all other laundry
Folding
Ironing
Finish labelling school uniform
School night routine
Early night

Oh an can i just say i love the internet. It is fabulous to be able to chat with far flung friends without spending a fortune on phone bills. although not good to be multitasking with tight deadlines BlushGrin

Despite being late last night was good. Am seriously suffering for it right now and will have to keep the caffine level topped up today. I suspect that all i will do tomo is sleep Hmm

if you get bored give an opinion here

Afternoon all,

We've had a lovely weekend, been to a family party at the other end of the country, so the DCs have been on their first aeroplane (well, DS went as a baby but doesn't remember). All went smoothly, the DCs loved the flying, and I enjoyed catching up with a lot of people I haven't seen for about 7 years Smile. Most of my relatives live at least 200 miles from us, so get togethers are fairly rare. The weather was lovely too, and we had the most stunning views of London coming back as we got into a stack circling round over the city. The only low point was that I got taken to one side in security and was informed that they would have to confiscate the jar of marmite we had for DS in our hand luggage - it is on the list of banned substances apparently! Sad.

Tired now though, will try and catch up with you all in the next day or so.

OuchPassVodka · 12/09/2010 17:36

marmite Shock

Changed all beds

Lots of schoolwork
Proper clean of our bedroom and bathroom
Washed sofa covers
Played with dc's
Visited friends
Cleaned up an awful lot of wee - dd is very good when she is naked but stick a pair of pants on her and she just wees in them.

Off to catch-up with the rest of you.

PositiveAttitude · 12/09/2010 20:52

Good evening everyone. Grin

I have royally messed up, here!! DH was due to go back to work on the mainland tomorrow. I booked him on the 2.30 boat, expecting that we could have a lovely quiet lunch together before he heads off for the week again. I printed his ticket off this morning and as I handed it to him I noticed that it said 02.30! !!!!!!!!!! Lets just say he is not going to be nominating me for any wife of the year awards!!! This now means that he has to leave home at 1am, arrive in Winchester at 4am and does not need to be at work for another 29 hours!! He cant even get into his hotel room until 12.00 tomorrow, so I think it will be a dose in the car. No amount of DH stroking is going to make this one ok, SC. Grin

As everyone was having a rotten day yesterday, I was actually having a good day healthwise and felt good for the first time for ages. I managed to get a lot of the washing done, ironed and sorted. Kitchen was cleaned and bedroom tidy.

Today I feel ill again so have done nothing. I supervised the cleaning of the rabbit hutch, Wink.
DH has been really good and helped and I think the fact that he is in "caring" mode has meant that he has not gone absolutely mental at my time mistake!

MrsD - Glad you had a great time away, Grin at the marmite. Maybe the guy fancied some on his toast. Wink

SC I hope DD is well enough for school tomorrow, then life can resume.

Sorry, I am going to have to go. Sorry for lack of more messages, I will try to get back tomorrow and catch up a bit more. I love reading what you have all been up to.
Waves to everyone, see you tomorrow. Smile

PositiveAttitude · 12/09/2010 20:54

Oh dear, no DH wont be having a dose of anything in the car..... he will doze!!!

missbennett · 12/09/2010 21:07

Hello, everyone! PA lol at your time error - I can see why Dh might not be amused but it made me smile :)

Better day today - DDs and I all got to church for the first time in ages. Which felt better than I expected!

Then this afternoon took DD1 for driving practice - me, her friend and DD2 spent a happy afternoon wandering round show homes then a cuppa in the garden centre :) Just need to win the lottery now.Wink

Cooked tea and made a cake.....slice anyone? And changed the sheets on my bed. Now thinking about tackling the large pile of clean washing which is threatening to take over the house. Shock but I might not Hmm

Toffeefudgecake · 12/09/2010 21:26

Just back from family party. It was lovely, although poor DS2 was stung by a bee at the end, so it ended with a bit of a drama. Poor boy was stung by a bee in France a couple of weeks back too - he must smell sweet or something (actually, he had been eating chocolate). Another mum gave me a can of something to spray on him, which really helped, although his cheek still swelled up a bit.

Held up in traffic on the way home, so, apart from the evening routine, I won't be doing any flying today.

DS2's first morning at school tomorrow. He seems to be looking forward to it.

PA - oh dear, what a mistake! But it sounds as if your DH was really lovely about it.

DS1 wants his story read to him, so have to go!

Pluto · 12/09/2010 23:26

Thinking of your DH PA - it won't be too long before he has to set off now, just as I'm thinking about calling it a day. Anyway, I'm glad you are feeling a little better.

Schoolwork done (tbh there is never really a point where with school stuff you have actually finished everything but "done" means that I will be OK at work tomorrow at least and no DCs should be going home saying Blush things about my lessons).

Laundry done-ish

Sunday eve routines done

Here comes Monday....bracing myself for whatever the FF might throw at us :o

Stillcounting · 13/09/2010 06:43

Good morning

Work day so will catch up with thread later on, in the meantime

Today's baby-step, no.13, introduces us to missions and includes useful recap

Today's Zone is here we are in the bathroom + one other room all this week
(We are only meant to do a 5-min "stash and dash" each day in the 'other' room)

And, as stated above, the mission for today is wiping around the back and base of the lav lovely!

Monday is the day for our "weekly overhaul" (thank you Feetheart) otherwise known as the weekly "home blessing" hour in Fat Fairy saccharine language.

There is info about that on the home page but I can't access it right now for some reason so I'll post this and be back in a mo once I've tried again

This is the sneak peak for the week

Have a good Monday everyone!

Back in a second!

Stillcounting · 13/09/2010 06:50

I don't know if any of you have tried to access the Flylady website recently, but its increasingly difficult to jump between areas on the site for some reason (you have to keep coming out of site and then going back in to particular bit you want). Wiered!

Hey ho, apologies for delay but here finally is info on on weekly overhaul/home blessing hour

And more indoctrination reminders

Good luck today Bob - thinking of you!

Back to catch up with thread once I'm at work have more time Grin

OP posts:
Stillcounting · 13/09/2010 06:51

Er, that should have said "wierd"!!

LinzerTorte · 13/09/2010 07:10

Morning all,

DD2 decided she wanted to walk to school on her own this morning (i.e. without me, but with DD1 and 9-10 other children) so I'm back home half an hour earlier than normal. It looks like Mondays are going to be my stressful day this year - the afternoons at least, as between 12 and 3pm I have to pick up the DC (at three separate times) and take the DDs to their (consecutive) piano lessons, not to mention fitting in lunch beforehand. I am beginning to wonder whether arranging their lessons to start at 1.10 pm was such a wise idea. On top of that, the music school has moved to near the station, which is quite a bit further from us and where it is notoriously difficult to find a parking space.

Anyway, must get on with my list:

Washing on
Ironing
Morning routine doing
15 min decluttering in bathroom
5 min decluttering in DDs' room
Bathroom mission
Stash and dash mission
e-mail friends re meeting up
Afternoon routine
Piano lessons
Get DD1 to write postcard
Pay ballet fees
Phone piano tuner
Birthday present for DD2's friend
Evening routine

See you all later - have a good day. Smile

Nettiespagetti · 13/09/2010 08:05

Good morning

SaturdayI went to gig in garden, dc enjoyed it and I felt much better for it too.

No flying Sunday as did swimming lessons then lunch then party then shops then moved ds bed, then slept on sofa!

This mornings list
Get up/dressed
Bed make
S/s
Dw/wm
Dc to gymnastics and zoo
Home to move remaining furniture out of ds old room
Out at meeting tonight.

Definately try and do routine day here

Hope you all have a great day Grin

OuchPassVodka · 13/09/2010 09:22

morning.

So tired but have been productive already.

WM 1st load
DW loaded
School run done
Shopping done

So now settling down for a rest sleep

Hopefully later will do:
More laundry
ironing if only to reduce the mountain
folding
clothes away

Been sleeping really badly so this week the focus is on sorting out my bedroom so that it is somewhere to rest rather then a reminder of the general state of chaos.

As for the mission - I have a little boy wiping around the toilet is a daily task, as is washing his bedding atm. I know it is his meds but am getting very bored of washing bedding. Especially as he isnt out of nappies/bedtime pull up type things and he is leaking through despite me changing him before i go to bed.

Anyhow: happy flying folks. Pester me this week about my bedroom. And sorting the sleep thing. I also have 2 weeks to discover the whole house and its hard on burn out.

Have a good day!
night

Toffeefudgecake · 13/09/2010 10:32

Dropped DS2 at his school for his first session this morning. He was fine, which meant I was fine too Smile.

So far this morning, I have:

Done s/s
Done school run
Turned d/w on
Put sheets in w/m
Had tea and b/fast

I now have an hour and 15 minutes before I collect DS, so will try to:

do bathroom mission (5 mins)
do quick tidy in our bedroom (5 mins)
do weekly overhaul (1 hr max)
make sandwiches for DS2 (bound to come out of school hungry) (5 mins)

Later, my list looks like this:

emails
post
rtn forms to school
get DS1 to do hwk and Kumon maths Hmm
make dinner
PM and eve routines

Thanks for the 'sneak peak', PA. It's good to see what's coming up this week.

Right, time to get the hoover out....

swanriver · 13/09/2010 10:49

Right, starting afresh on this flying lark now that house a bit more decluttered.

Thismorning

check diary dates
what's for supper
beds
dw
load of washing
put away any clean washingup (of course I washed them up last night Hmm
homebless - hoover, dust, s & s, bins/wastepaper baskets, tidy surfaces

wrote message out, but just had another marathon chat with friend who I hadn't spoken to for six weeks so only just starting..NOW

LinzerTorte · 13/09/2010 11:33

Quick update to keep myself on track for the rest of the day (mornings are fine if I don't have any work, but I start to lag in the afternoons):

Washing done
Ironing done
Morning routine done
15 min decluttering in bathroom doing
5 min decluttering in playroom
Bathroom mission done
Stash and dash mission
e-mail friends re meeting up one down, one to go
Afternoon routine
Piano lessons
Get DD1 to write postcard
Pay ballet fees
Phone piano tuner
Birthday present for DD2's friend
Evening routine

MrsD I feel your pain; I had a jar of golden syrup confiscated on a recent visit. I was so excited to find you could now get it in plastic bottles that I completely forgot about not being allowed to take liquids, pastes, etc. in hand luggage.

Ouch The joys of little boys. Wink Washing bedding seems to be an almost daily task here too - occasionally even two lots. Still, it forces me to change the sheets on a regular basis. Grin

swan Nice to see you again. Smile

Dartsbeginsagainsoon · 13/09/2010 12:37

Good afternoon,

I've been busy, so this seems a good chance to re-work my lists.

DD came home from her week away with a poorly knee; big cuts and grazes, and I think she's badly knocked it, so will be keeping an eye on it at the moment. Lots of talk about everything she's done (including stuff that for her was very adventurous, good). And it does seem that her friend had been kept unaware of her grandmother's death; she was first off the bus and hustled away. I'll ask dd how she was when she gets home.

Morning routine done

After work
Help dad build new steps in garden in progress (ie a bit a day)
distribute minutes of school governor meeting (I'm on the board, and we do the minutes for most meetings ourselves)
load car with loads of bags of stuff for charity shop (would they take old specs?)
de-clutter kitchen
order keyboard, padded bag, stand for DD done
Dinner (using leftovers)
Evening routine
empty toybox, ruthlessly

Dartsbeginsagainsoon · 13/09/2010 12:39

And I must add:

clean bathroom
at least one load of washing (dp can do the rest tomorrow Grin)

swanriver · 13/09/2010 12:48

got thoroughly sidetracked by decluttering AGAIN
still...got to make room for those xmas presents!!!!

bedroom drawer emptied, other stuff generally sorted
2 bathrooms cleaned
makeup/jewellery/potions and lotions reallocated

4 bags of rubbish collected from upstairs

darts poor dd
linzer yes sorry to lurk out of picture, as usual overwhelmed by all the stuff you are all getting through daily
must do my piano [eek]

lunch first

tigger32 · 13/09/2010 12:54

swanriver · 13/09/2010 12:58
