My love of clean sheets is counteracted by my hatred of faffing around changing bedlinen, so usually every 2 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less. I change pyjamas most nights though and am always freshly bathed and moisturised when I go to bed, so my side doesn't really smell too bad. I get upset if DP starts cooking something without closing the bedroom doors first though so it all smells like stale food. Eww.

DCs beds are as and when, it's rare that they would go longer than a week without some kind of accident, spillage or other act of carelessness.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/08/2010 17:10

Poledra, i am a good person really.

ethelina · 02/08/2010 17:10

I change my bedding every week/10 days. I also iron everything. I can't bear putting it away unironed. I also can't bear fitted sheets cos I can't iron them very well or fold them into a perfect square.

oldenoughtowearpurple · 02/08/2010 17:16

You have to change them??????????

CakeandRoses · 02/08/2010 17:22

It's our Sunday night chore, every week.

CupcakesHay · 02/08/2010 17:23

Once a week - unless cats have made them particularly minging...

Does anyone iron them - or am I only lazy one?

JenniferCanesten · 02/08/2010 17:28

When the stains join up.

megonthemoon · 02/08/2010 17:40

Once a fortnight, but do leave the beds to air properly every day with window open...

champagnesupernova · 02/08/2010 17:45

GOML - so is your bed UNMADE tracey emin style all day?

Ripeberry · 02/08/2010 17:45

I do ours every 2-3 weeks, but I wear pyjamas to bed, DH's side is worse but he does not seem to notice

My brother on the other hand lives in a bedsit and the bed is the only place to sit, so when I visited him a few weeks ago I noticed the bedding was looking a bit rank and he said that he had not washed them for over 6 months!!

And even grosser, he sleeps in his clothes.
But then when you are unemployed and living in a s@it hole you can't complain.

I bought him new bedding that day and the other set was put in the bin!

nagoo · 02/08/2010 20:17

If it was just me I'd only do it every 2 weeks.

But what is it about men and their sweaty heads?

My DS refuses to go on daddy's side of the bed as it is stinky!

marriednotdead · 02/08/2010 21:01

at cats/dogs in bed.
She is definitely mad, you are in danger of sliding into minger territory
Change mine every week. Slips into 10 days now and then but DH usually wants a clean pillowcase for his sweaty head by then so I end up doing the whole lot.
Boys are 13 and sweaty mingers so insist they change theirs every Friday without fail.

HerbWoman · 02/08/2010 23:03

I remember a woman I used to work with who started to get itchy and we were trying to work out why. Someone suggested she had maybe changed her washing powder and as the conversation progressed, we found out that the dog slept with her and husband and the bedding was changed just before Christmas. We had the conversation in at least mid-Feb. Yuck.

littledawley · 02/08/2010 23:29

ethelina - watch this - now imagine it when the sheet is ironed! My cleaner makes my fitted sheets SO neat then puts the folded pillowcases on top and folds the ironed duvet cover around it into a lovely neat bundle. It pleases me no end!!

ethelina · 03/08/2010 00:22

wow that is some talent! I must learn it for the cot bedding, but not sure I can give up hospital corners on my bed - too much fun to do

weathershore · 04/08/2010 04:48

wash mine once a week in the summer and every two weeks in the winter and i shower each evening

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 04/08/2010 06:31

Once a week, but only do the duvet cover every second week - I use a top sheet so don't really touch the duvet, and the cats aren't allowed upstairs. We shower at night, too.

My daughter's cot gets changed including the duvet cover every week, though, because her cover doesn't make the washing machine unbalance and piss me off.

Tried ironing sheets once, decided there were better uses of my time. Do try and iron pillow cases, though.

autumnishere · 06/08/2010 00:20

mine every week

usualsuspect · 06/08/2010 00:22

When I can be arsed

clemetteattlee · 06/08/2010 00:32

Probably every 3-4 weeks.
Eco-friendly me

StrawberryTot · 06/08/2010 00:50

i love clean fresh sheets so 2 times a week minimum, do the kiddies once usually although if my eldest catches me she insists on doing hers as well on the plus side she does help kinda

franklampoon · 06/08/2010 01:12

once a month or less

purplepeony · 06/08/2010 18:01

Once a week.

Iron the duvet cover- king size 100% cotton- and pillow slips but not sheets.

All my bed linen is white and I find if I leave it any longer the pillow cases get stained with face cream etc no matter how much I try to let it sink in before I hit the sack.

Those of you who ask if bedding get dirty- well, they do get full of dust mites, even if you wear pJs etc.

itshappenedagain · 06/08/2010 20:05

twice a week ona wed and sunday...and i iron them too. possibly more at the moment though as i have a lovely refluxy baby and she tends to like to be sick on them!
i think like most things its personal preference...but then my mum is the same were not very eco friendly!

SparkyToo · 06/08/2010 20:52

Once a week.
