When does everyone put their Christmas tree up

I know.. we're in October. I love how cozy it makes the house this time of year and I'm considering early November. When does everyone put their tree and decorations up and do you have a certain date yearly or just when you feel like it?

December. It would ruin its magic being up too early.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 10/10/2024 19:38

Early December, DS's birthday is in the first few days so the first weekend after that

2chocolateoranges · 10/10/2024 19:38

Normally the weekend closest to the 6th December. However this year we have decided to get a week of winter sun so the tree won’t go up until approximately the 12th December.

I usually take a days annual leave on a Friday at the end of November and spend the day putting the trees up and decorating.

It’s my little tradition and I really look forward to the day. Some people may think I’m sad but I adore Christmas.

There’s something about the festive period that makes me feel close to those I’ve lost. The little traditions going back years, the memories of childhood Christmases, using my nan’s trifle dish and my mum’s serving dishes, all these daft little things. So I want Christmas to last as long as possible.

I have put this in my calendar and will put a few Christmas decorations up on this day for your baby.

This is so kind you’ve made me tearful in a good way. I often think to me it feels so recent to others it’s almost forgotten but this has made me so grateful thankyou ❤️🎄

I will put my tree up first week of December but I will now put some lights up on the 27th November to remember @Achristmastradition's child x

Thankyou ❤️

Around first weekend in December

3peassuit · 10/10/2024 20:21

Usually put it up on the 20th December and down on the 12th night. That's long enough for me.

CLEO42 · 10/10/2024 20:21

The second weekend in December. We have a real tree and do the house decorations at the same time. It all stays up until 6th Jan.

Radiolala · 10/10/2024 20:24

A week before Christmas Day at the earliest. I don’t want a droopy tree!

Changeyourfuckingcar · 10/10/2024 20:27

Generally the second weekend in December I think. Sometimes before but we’re not often that organised 🤣

middleagedandinarage · 10/10/2024 20:30

First weekend in December

HaddyAbrams · 10/10/2024 20:30

Used to be when DC broke up from school, but they are adults now, so probably the weekend before Christmas. 21st/22nd this year.

Patienceinshortsupply · 10/10/2024 20:32

We bought a Balsam Hill tree last year and I was so excited that it went up mid November. Never again, I was sick of it by mid December!! It came down on the 27th.

We've got family birthdays and like to decorate for those so our tree normally goes up after the 1st weekend of December.

DiscoBeat · 10/10/2024 20:37

About 10th December. Otherwise the needles will drop everywhere!

Growlybear83 · 10/10/2024 20:39

Mine usually goes up on Christmas Eve, or very occasionally the 23rd.

AnythingGoesAllThroughTheNight · 10/10/2024 21:38

Always on the 13th December

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 10/10/2024 22:22

First of December! Used to be the first weekend and I'm flexible as long as it's up by then. I also keep it up until the 12th night but I do start taking things down excluding the tree.

Over Covid we did put them up in November because we needed the joy.

I adore looking at Christmas decorations and the warm twinkle of lights. Warms my soul.

MissConductUS · 10/10/2024 22:25

Ours goes up the weekend following Thanksgiving weekend, so early December.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 10/10/2024 17:23

I always aim to put it up on December 1st but rarely get round to it on the actual day, usually the weekend after.

This :)

GrumpyPanda · 10/10/2024 22:40

Dec 23 as the absolutely earliest - usually it's the 24th. If nothing else, with live candles it needs to be fresh!

We usually have an advent wreath for 4 candles for adventure - each Sunday one more gets lit.

NewName24 · 10/10/2024 22:56

Somewhere between 12th and 17th December, depending upon when the weekend falls.

StarDolphins · 10/10/2024 22:59

last Sunday before Dec fir. This year it will be sun 1st Dec

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/10/2024 23:00

23rd December

mondaytosunday · 10/10/2024 23:04

First weekend in December. As it's the 1st on a Sunday and my DD is now at uni, my son said he will visit to help pick out the tree as long as he can combine it with a local football match! So it will be Tuesday the 3rd now.
I love Xmas but even I am pretty bored with it around New Years, so if I put it up earlier it means getting bored before New Years! Plus as it's real not sure how it would last.
