When does everyone put their Christmas tree up

I know.. we're in October. I love how cozy it makes the house this time of year and I'm considering early November. When does everyone put their tree and decorations up and do you have a certain date yearly or just when you feel like it?

27 November 🎄

To make a very difficult day have something special to remember my first baby who I lost on 27 November 2000

CrispyK · 10/10/2024 17:38

as soon as the Halloween tat is put away! (Just kidding)
we usually do 2nd weekend of December, then down for twelfth night.

I don’t really care when others put theirs up but the apparent rush to get Christmas over with after Boxing Day and move onto the next thing really pisses me off.

unsync · 10/10/2024 17:39

Everything up on Christmas Eve. Eberything down on Epiphany.

Moveoverdarlin · 10/10/2024 17:39

We always get a real tree so probably second weekend of December.

Sorry but having it all up from early November is just silly.

💐I’m sorry.

MotherOfCatBoy · 10/10/2024 17:44

Beginning of December. We used to wait til quite close to Christmas, but during Covid the first winter (2020) was miserable so we went early and have stuck to that. Always leave it up til Twelfth Night too.

That's the date I put mine up last year and if it's ok with you I'll do it again so you know someone else is thinking of you that day too. So sorry 💐

I always aim to put it up on December 1st but rarely get round to it on the actual day, usually the weekend after.

Same. But it’s down the day after Boxing Day as it’s my sons birthday on the 28th and I can’t be bothered for Xmas and birthday decorations

Tooty78 · 10/10/2024 18:02

Me and my sister's do what my Mum did, tree up on 12th December.

Although technically for me it's a big, kick ass fireplace garland, instead of a tree. I freed myself from the tyranny of the tree about 5 years ago and do not miss it at all.
We have no little children in the family now, so not much point in having a tree.

All comes down on the 6th January.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/10/2024 18:03

During the week before Christmas. No sooner, it's Advent. And the presents go under it on Christmas Eve..

I can't imagine having it hanging about for so long, it wouldn't feel special at all.

My birthday is on the 6th December, so usually the weekend after that. If l had my way, it would be a week after that, but DH prefers the earlier date. November - no thank you.

Snap (almost) My birthday is the 5th of December and tree goes up the weekend after 😄

Ezekiela · 10/10/2024 18:05

Any time after 1st December, or Advent Sunday if that is earlier, is OK in my book.

ruethewhirl · 10/10/2024 18:06

First weekend in December.

Kyap · 10/10/2024 18:06

1st December normally, this year will be earlier as I’m having an operation in early December and don’t want to deal with it just before or after.

Theonewhogotaway · 10/10/2024 18:06

Early December, I can’t imagine putting it up two months before hand,

Advent Sunday onwards here too.

ShortColdandGrey · 10/10/2024 18:08

First of December usually, but last year we put it up the weekend before because we were really busy all December.

LostittoBostik · 10/10/2024 18:09

2 weeks before Christmas

Pleaselettheholidayend · 10/10/2024 18:09

Usually chaotically in mid December. Last year we didn't even manage a tree -we had run out of space in our old home when my husband needed a WFH setup. I compensated with MANY paper chains.

okayhescereal · 10/10/2024 18:12

Nothing till the first weekend of advent, which this year is 30th November :) Usually would wait till the Sunday but we're hosting on the Saturday so will get some bits out. Probably get the tree on Sunday 1 December

Got cosy autumn stuff, pumpkins and candles out instead! Will get steadily more twinkly but the official Christmas bits are boxed till it's officially Christmas.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/10/2024 18:12

Usually on my birthday in mid December

poppetandmog · 10/10/2024 18:13

December, like a normal person.
