When does everyone put their Christmas tree up

I know.. we're in October. I love how cozy it makes the house this time of year and I'm considering early November. When does everyone put their tree and decorations up and do you have a certain date yearly or just when you feel like it?

Usually the first weekend in December. So probably the 1st this year. And then down on the twelfth night.
We only ever put it up earlier once in 2020 as we were feeling glum with our area still being on restrictions and it cheered us up.

LuckysDadsHat · 10/10/2024 18:22

Last weekend in November as it had to be up by my daughters birthday or she gets sad. She's an adult but it started when she was tiny and she still wants it up for her birthday. It will be the 30th November this year.

StarSlinger · 10/10/2024 18:25

First Saturday in December. There's no need for the snotty replies about people who choose to do it earlier though.

Savingthehedgehogs · 10/10/2024 18:27

The 1st of December, I love the twinkly happiness it brings to the bleak winter months. It stays up to the new year usually the 2nd of Jan. I like the house spring cleaned for the start of school and to welcome the new year.

HappyDane · 10/10/2024 18:28

Somewhere around the 10th. We have a real tree and we like to keep it up 'til Twelfth Night.

HappiestSleeping · 10/10/2024 18:29

Mine is already up

Up in the loft where it will stay.

Bah humbug.

bergamotvetiverthyme · 10/10/2024 18:47

First Sunday in December

workplaceshenanigans · 10/10/2024 18:50

Hopefully the weekend of the 7th/8th, but it might be the weekend after.

Andnowshesatoddler · 10/10/2024 18:54

I absolutely love Christmas... Oddly though I do not bother with a Christmas tree or much decoration at all I just don't see the point in spending time putting up to put down now my daughter is getting older I might now though.
Possibly second week of December this year we've got some time free.

That’s so lovely thankyou so much that would mean a lot to me ❤️

I have put this in my calendar and will put a few Christmas decorations up on this day for your baby.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 10/10/2024 18:58

First Saturday of December

When my kids were young I was so busy with work and then I would say get in the lift if you want it up and that's what they would have to do days before Xmas. But now it's grandchildren I'm doing a deep clean for it next week then a bit of Halloween fun going up - never did for my own - then hopefully quick dust round mid November as soon as the real trees are ready and they will stay up till 12th night. Timers set so the lights come on for 3pm 😂
One year we were really ill and drained with COVID and took them down the same day the Queen's came down February 6th it felt like 5 minutes before we were putting them up again.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 10/10/2024 19:00

Mid December but other decorations / lights before that.

Acrantala · 10/10/2024 19:02

Around the 7-10th of December but it is down by New Year's Eve. I cannot go into January with Christmas decorations up. We have family over after Christmas usually around 28th/29th for Christmas get together so they come down after that.

In case you don't know there is a Christmas board as some MNetters have sad memories around the Christmas period so a board was created for all things Christmas.

LaPalmaLlama · 10/10/2024 19:02

Probably the 7th, as we'll take it down on the 30th as we 're going away and will be past 12th night when we get back.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 10/10/2024 19:14

There's one up already near me I drove past the house on 17th September and the tree was up and twinkling away, I drove past again last weekend and the tree had been joined by a full sized willow woven reindeer! They put their decs up early every year.

Mine will go up at some point, I have no idea when as we are waiting to move.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 10/10/2024 19:15

I will put my tree up first week of December but I will now put some lights up on the 27th November to remember @Achristmastradition's child x

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 10/10/2024 19:16

First weekend in December.

It's then down on New Year's Eve at the latest.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 10/10/2024 19:17

Mid-December. I hate early Christmassing!

menopausalmare · 10/10/2024 19:17

The weekend before the schools break up.

RobynRB · 10/10/2024 19:17

MagicianMoth · 10/10/2024 19:21

AvaJae · 10/10/2024 19:24

Christmas Eve, real tree, decorated as a family when everyone arrives home for Christmas.

Stays up until 12th night for that lovely Christmas sparkle & cosiness.

toastedcrumpetsrock · 10/10/2024 19:34

1st weekend in December and stays up until the day before schools go back - this year will be January 6th,
