Would you put something like this up in your lounge, or is it going to go out of fashion too quickly to be worth the effort? www.grahambrown.com/uk/product/glasshouse-navy-wallpaper/119884-master/

Not necessarily this colour/pattern but this style of wallpaper, with busy bold patterns of animals/plants/birds.

I'm just thinking of putting it on the chimney breast as a feature, but maybe even that is too much? My taste is normally very neutral - in fact I don't think I've ever used wallpaper before, only paint in sensible neutrals or pastels - but I've got a sudden urge to add a bit more character.

I put a gorgeous dark plum with swans up the wall next to my stairs when I moved in 13 years ago, and still love it. Also added house of hackney palmeral wallpaper to my chimney breast about 7 years ago, and got the yellow stripe with animals from 5 years ago in a small toilet too. Love patterned wallpaper, dont care if it's in or out of fashion. If you love it, do it!

I'm having similar thoughts as I've totally fallen in love with this https://www.grahambrown.com/uk/product/serendipity-rainbow-bespoke-mural-/120406-master/

That’s gorgeous. I’ve got a purple velvet sofa in one of my rooms which this would go brilliantly with.

@wallpapercurious I have the exact paper in the green colour in my sitting room. Its only on the the chimney breast wall and the 3 other walls are painted in a very dark green. I love it and it has attracted lots of positive comments.

TiaraBoo · 08/01/2024 18:47

I love that serendipity wallpaper, goes with my cushions- exactly! Will have to have another look to see if there was a collaboration.

OP - pick something you absolutely love, not something less bold or less dark or less whatever. You need to be able to go into the room and say I absolutely love it!

More lovely wallpaper from Divine Savages. I keep trying to work out how to make it work in my blonde wood/ scandi style decor and failing....

I love the video on their home page. Think I'm in the wrong job!

Love it. We have bold (animal themed!) wallpaper in two rooms and I've never regretted it. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste but who cares!

Doingmybest12 · 10/01/2024 00:25

Love a bold paper but not on the chimney breast. I'd do it on another wall I'm not looking at all the time.

I love a bit of loud wallpaper here and there!

Great thread! Loads of useful suggestions.

Long shot - can anyone recommend a mid- brown fabric/textured wallpaper? Sort of bark effect, possibly birch.

I had a sample like this some tIme ago & seem to have misplaced it! I think it was an Italian company that made it

AInightingale · 10/01/2024 17:02

No it would look very striking on one wall, all four would be hectic though. A darkish fireplace wall with pale shades on other walls looks good.

Bloody nightmare to match though, I got a bloke in to do mine with a similar bird design, as I am terrible at papering generally. I needed four rolls for one wall in my quite small living room - he used 3 and a bit.

SunCreamQueenie · 10/01/2024 17:06

Yes I would, actually I have! Can't stand all these white/grey homes I visit/see pictures of. You do you!

I love it.

Ive lusted after Cole & Son wallpaper for years and will be hanging it when I next redecorate. Not to all tastes but right up my street, and im a fan of statement wallpaper. The examples in this thread are ace.

I heard some interesting advice once on picking wallpaper - once you have a favourite sample, stick it in your handbag for a week or two / put it somewhere you will come across it every day. If it makes you smile every time you take it out / see it, then you know you won't get bored of it.
