Would you put something like this up in your lounge, or is it going to go out of fashion too quickly to be worth the effort? www.grahambrown.com/uk/product/glasshouse-navy-wallpaper/119884-master/

Not necessarily this colour/pattern but this style of wallpaper, with busy bold patterns of animals/plants/birds.

I'm just thinking of putting it on the chimney breast as a feature, but maybe even that is too much? My taste is normally very neutral - in fact I don't think I've ever used wallpaper before, only paint in sensible neutrals or pastels - but I've got a sudden urge to add a bit more character.

Personally I love that, it’s fabulous. But, I do not care about fashion and go with what I like. Will your sofa and other furniture go with it? If you love it, be brave!

Seaside3 · 07/01/2024 09:00

It's your home, who cares about fashion?

It's also a really beautiful paper. Go for it.

Pickledprawn · 07/01/2024 09:00

It's beautiful. If you love it you won't regret it even if it becomes unfashionable.

wallpapercurious · 07/01/2024 09:07

Thank you! I'm not normally into fashion either but I'm worried I've got caught up in it with these wallpapers as they're definitely not my usual style. I suppose a better question would be 'would I regret this in two years' time?'

Anyway we desperately need new sofas but haven't ordered any yet so I've taken the opportunity to redo the whole room.

I think it’s really fun to have wallpaper like that - neutrals are still a big trend at the moment which is great if you’re trying to sell a house, but if you’re wanting your house to feel like home and have personality then pop some funky wallpaper up!
If you don’t like it in a couple of years it’s not too much hard work to take it down and paint the wall. Especially if it’s a small area like the chimney breast.

Janieforever · 07/01/2024 09:50

Yes, I have one wall in my living room in something similar, just a different colour way, I really like it.

Devilsmommy · 07/01/2024 09:55

I'm not into pattern wallpaper normally but just got Belgravia oliana which is similar just without the birds. It looks bloody amazing and I'm glad I did it now. Really don't care if it isn't fashionable in a couple of years. If you like it, go for it 😁

wallpapercurious · 07/01/2024 10:19

Thank you all for your encouragement and wallpaper tips. I've ordered some samples! Belgravia Oliana in the teal colour looks lovely

@wallpapercurious the teal is the one I've got😁 with the matching teal panels on other walls. They do also do it in navy too

Geneticsbunny · 07/01/2024 10:33

Do it. I did my living room in this sort of paper about 3 years ago and I love it. It makes a brilliant zoom background and makes me smile every time I go in the room.

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2024 10:51

It’s lovely, also another recommendation for Woodchip&Magnolia beautiful quality wallpaper & very easy to hang.

Wendyer · 07/01/2024 10:53

I've sort of accidentally ended up with wallpaper on one wall of a room that I'm turning into a snug. I've never used wallpaper before and was a bit dubious about a feature wall, but now it's up I love it.

I even framed a couple of pieces of it to hang on the wall! It came from a company called Lust.

MatildaTheCat · 07/01/2024 11:27

I adore a bit of wallpaper and it’s definitely not ‘trendy’ as in only lasting a year or two. Once you start looking at wallpaper books it’s game over🤣

CrapBucket · 07/01/2024 11:31

I’m having exactly the same thought process, I think I am veering towards not doing it though, I have looked at so many wallpapers that they all feel very similar now. Like doing the research has sated my wallpaper need and now I’m back to calm neutrals…

Woolabaloo · 07/01/2024 11:41

Ooh do it! I just did it in my living space and am so happy with it! I don’t think I’ll get fed up with it but like you did it in strategic areas keeping the rest neutral so I can change it up if I want to in a few years. Happy to pm some photos if you like? But yes, go for it!

TheLurpackYears · 07/01/2024 11:46

I would, but it wouldn't be a big effort for me to wallpaper a chimney breast. If I went off it before I wanted to redo the whole room I'd prime then paint over it or do a layer of lining paper then paint.
If you love the look right now, no it right now!

diddl · 07/01/2024 12:38

Love it!

As a kid (50+ yrs ago!) it was always only the chimney breasts that were wall papered!

Thejewellershands · 07/01/2024 12:41

No way, this is the exact wallpaper we are having. I love it. It hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does we have just putting it on one wall and I think it will look great. You should go for it

MumTeacherofMany · 07/01/2024 13:29

If you like it go for it! Who cares what's in fashion?! If you get sick of it, change it x

ilovesushi · 07/01/2024 16:39

It's lovely! We've just decorated one of our rooms in something similar and I love it. I don't care whether it is fashionable or not. It makes me happy to go in there. I am now looking for something with a lot of colour and pattern for the downstairs loo. This is after about 20 years of white walls throughout the house.

GreatGateauxsby · 07/01/2024 16:41

I’m really not into wallpaper but I think this is LOVELY.

I would go for it…

Anjo2011 · 07/01/2024 17:48

Another vote for yes. I used Graham and Brown wallpaper in my living room, it’s gorgeous, vibrant and great quality. Haven’t been as keen on the paint from there though, it hasn’t worn as well as I would have hoped.
