If you don’t have an airing cupboard, where do you store your towels/ bedding?

Pictures would be amazing, but only if you want to! I have nothing to share, which can be annoying when the OP asks for photos! 😬

My new house doesn’t have an airing cupboard and I'm looking for inspiration before I go buying.

Thank you!

In an antique pine chest of drawers in the en suite bathroom. It used to be in the nursery. Has three deep drawers perfect for bedding. Towels in a basket in the main bathroom

'ladder storage' free standing shelves for the towels that sit on top of a chest of drawers in the spare room.

Bedsheets and pillowcases on top of my husband's wardrobe. Not ideal but I can't think of a better idea. (That's why this thread is so useful !)

I'm lucky to have an airing cupboard now, but in my old house we had a seagrass chest on the upstairs landing

In an ottoman bed

Large blanket box inherited from my mum when she moved out of her big house. Not old but does the job.

We use a tallboy from JL. Stores bedding for a king size bed and two singles, plus towels. Tall and shallow, with Six shelves and cupboard doors.

Pil old travel trunk from when they lived abroad. Also we have an airing cupboard but it's quite small

WellTidy · 11/01/2023 20:30

Towels are in a lidded blanket box in the bathroom

Bedding is in the drawers underneath the divan beds

We do have an airing cupboard now and the towels live there, but bedding is in a large blanket box in the spare bedroom. DS' bedding lives in his room in the drawer at the bottom of his wardrobe. Spare duvets etc are vacuum packed and live inside our bed, hydraulic side opening superking, suitcases also go in there, only problem is I'm not strong enough to lift it with the mattress on top....
When I had a flat I didn't have an airing cupboard just a large ottoman at the foot of the bed

Omg, that's a great idea! Our airing cupboard is in the void but only goes 1/3 of the way. There's another meter I could add to the cupboard at minimum.

Bedding - drawer under our bed.
Towels - drawer in the bathroom vanity
Duvets etc - storage box under spare bed
I don't have many spares.

I quoted a wrong post, sorry!

Our bathroom is downstairs (Victorian Terrace) and towels are on shelves above the tumble dryer in the utility area between the kitchen and the bathroom.

Our third bedroom has the ironing board etc and the bedding is kept in a large hamper basket in there.

I'm in temporary accommodation at the moment waiting for a house Edale. But normally in the drawers of my bed. They're really big and good for items I use but not daily.

I wonder about a lovely cupboard with four large drawers? One for everyone. Technically, everyone could still keep bedding in their rooms, but the bathroom is on the way to the bedroom from the washroom and I fancy a one stop storage place

I have this chest of drawers a friend gave me when they moved house. It’s not that big but the drawers are really deep and I have all my towels, bed linen, pjs and underwear in it. It’s like the Tardis. I live on my own in a very small flat with no storage at all. Compared with modern units the drawers seem far more generous. You can find bigger ones and if you wanted you could paint it if you aren’t a fan of pine.

@Suboptimalsitch I really like it, I need new friends!! 🤣

I miss an airing cupboard in a previous house, it was massive with perfect shelves!!

this place has no bolt in storage At All. It's very small too, so nothing is ideal. It's also mid renovation!

so, towels are folded perfectly & stacked in the bathroom on the top of a stariage bix. Bed linen is folded perfectly and stacked on a starsge box in each bedroom.

I don't mind it as I love open storage & I live the colours & because it's all folded 'perfectly' it doesn't look untidy.

I've got one of these in the landing, it holds so much!!

Divan bed drawers

Ottoman bed

I have a couple of waist height office cupboards in the spare room (which is set up as an office). One contains bedding and the other has towels.

BringOnAutumn · 21/01/2023 19:03

If you store your towels in the bathroom, don’t you worry about them getting damp?

That’s actually genius!

Those boxes are beautiful. I might be tempted by one at some stage.

Our handtowels live on an open shelf in the bathroom under the sink. I fold them really nicely so they look aesthetically pleasing. Bath towels and spare bedding are in a dresser in our office. We are a family of 3 and we only have 2 towels each, and two duvet sets so they don't need much space. The spare duvet is in a vacuum bag in a storage cupboard

crumpet · 22/01/2023 17:49

I have something like this on the landing. More or less everyone has their own shelf for bedding and towels.

An antique linen press would be nice.

NecklessMumster · 22/01/2023 18:09

I've got a towel cupboard from John Lewis on the landing, as bathroom is tiny. But it's a bit too full so doors don't fully close unless you squash hard. Annoying. Sheets in drawers under our bed, but kids/spare beds don't have drawers do I bought a blanket box but it's not ventilated enough so bedding smells musty so have to wash before visitors come. So need a better solution too. Don't want wicker as we had woodworm in some before.

GlamGiraffe · 22/01/2023 18:23

Towels are in either a cabinet or a hamper in the bathrooms, bedlinen in wheeled plastic storage boxes under one of the beds.
