If you don’t have an airing cupboard, where do you store your towels/ bedding?

Pictures would be amazing, but only if you want to! I have nothing to share, which can be annoying when the OP asks for photos! 😬

My new house doesn’t have an airing cupboard and I'm looking for inspiration before I go buying.

Thank you!

I wonder about a lovely cupboard with four large drawers? One for everyone. Technically, everyone could still keep bedding in their rooms, but the bathroom is on the way to the bedroom from the washroom and I fancy a one stop storage place

I have this chest of drawers a friend gave me when they moved house. It’s not that big but the drawers are really deep and I have all my towels, bed linen, pjs and underwear in it. It’s like the Tardis. I live on my own in a very small flat with no storage at all. Compared with modern units the drawers seem far more generous. You can find bigger ones and if you wanted you could paint it if you aren’t a fan of pine.

Under my bed. I have an ottoman bed.

Beautiful folding @Suboptimalsitch

I keep my towels on the top shelf of my wardrobe (above hanging rail) but that doesn’t seem to be what you’re after.

Bedsheets I keep in the individual bedrooms.

Giggorata · 06/01/2023 15:42

At the moment, I’ve got a 5 drawer filing cabinet, sprayed a nice colour, for bedding.
Towels are still in the old airing cupboard in the bathroom, which is minuscule.
Spare duvets and pillows are all on the spare bed, which now resembles something form the Princess and the Pea.
I plan a huge cupboard for everything together. One day.

MaverickGooseGoose · 06/01/2023 15:52

Wardrobe in the spare room. Not very exciting. I would love to have a press like I did growing up.

WhatHaveIFound · 06/01/2023 15:54

Bedding is kept in a chest of drawers on the landing and spare duvets/pillows are under the beds. Spare towels are in the bathroom cupboard.

Stickytoff · 06/01/2023 15:54

Our hot press is very small so we use wardrobe shelves, blanket boxes and ottomans in bedrooms.

Baconand · 06/01/2023 16:07

We have an underbed storage box in each room for the bedding for that room. I decluttered when we moved so only have 2 sets for each of the adult beds now. More for DD as she is only 3 and we will be night training soon but hers are smaller.

Towels are in an big F&M hamper basket in the biggest bedroom. It takes up a fair bit of room but looks nice. It must be over half a metre high, and over a metre wide We’ve had it for donkeys years though. It holds tons!

I have an airing cupboard but the shelves had to come out when the new boiler went in so currently they're in plastic boxes in the cupboard but I have too much bedding so need a clear out. Towels are in a unit thing in the bathroom

This is similar to what I have except mine is much bigger and the door is at the side on the landing. The cupboard houses everything including my grandchildren when they play hide and seek !

allfurcoatnoknickers · 06/01/2023 16:28

I've got two blanket chests - a wicker one in our room and a metal one in DS's room. We also have a shelf in our wardrobe allocated to bedding.

LuluBlakey1 · 06/01/2023 16:32

We have a big old built in cupboard in one of the bedrooms - I use that for towels, curtains and bedding.

Suboptimalsitch · 06/01/2023 17:06

Beautiful folding @Suboptimalsitch. The result of being really bored and watching the Marie Kondo series in lockdown. I have to admit it has resulted in being able to fit more stuff into the limited space I have.

SwedishEdith · 07/01/2023 17:22

We had a blanket box which I hated. However much I tried to organise it, others would just grab stuff and mess up my "system". Plus, people put stuff on top of blanket boxes so another annoyance.

I got a cheap (£13) small wardrobe off eBay, painted it added shelves and use that now.

Mmotherknowsbest · 07/01/2023 22:02

Everyone has their own towels, and spares are in a Kallax unit in the airing cupboard. Such an annoying thing to store!

WhatDoYouWantNow · 07/01/2023 22:10

I've got all the towels and flannels in a large cupboard (built-in) in the bathroom. Bedding is in plastic storage boxes under my bed.

stormelf · 07/01/2023 22:16

I have a large 1940s chest of drawers on the landing which I store towels and bedding in

I've tried this, but it’s a squash and I'm trying to avoid something similar.

Towels - IKEA godmorgan in the bathroom

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/godmorgon-wash-stand-with-2-drawers-high-gloss-white-80195536/

Sheets - for some beds we only have one set, so wash, dry, remake. The one or two spare sheets and duvet cases are on a shelf in bedroom wardrobe. I reduced the amount of bedding we have when I realised we only used a fraction of it.

Fizbosshoes · 08/01/2023 14:27

We have built in wardrobes in our bedroom. There is a middle section with a set of drawers at the bottom, and shelves above. Towels, sheets, duvet sets etc belong in there. but even after 14 years DH appears to forget or not know this info when putting washing away

soberfabulous · 08/01/2023 17:18

Top shelf of the spare room wardrobe.

Mammaplanner · 09/01/2023 21:39

Towels I keep in my drawers in bedroom. Bedding I don’t have any spare so just washed, dried and straight back on

princesssparklepants · 09/01/2023 22:10

We have a free standing cupboard on our landing.
Sort of looks like a book case with glass doors on.
Not to dissimilar to an ikea Billy book case but it's not from ikea. Think it's pine, but we've painted it and put new handles on

RoseMartha · 09/01/2023 22:13

My airing cupboard has towels but not bedding in.

I have storage drawers under the bed and the bedding is in the large one of those.
