Where on earth do you buy a sofa??

I'm 28 and I've had a hand me down sofa since I was 20, my dad gave it to me when I moved out. It's still going on but the pillows are getting thin and I feel like I can feel the frame when I sit on it.

But I have no idea where is a good place for a new sofa or how much to budget? I've heard people say DFS is great and others say they're crap quality. I can't spend a fortune but I also don't wanna to spend too little and get something crap since that's just a waste of money. Where do I look??

We had our last DFS sofa for 10 years. Had someone round from Plumbs to measure for fitted covers, told her I could buy new sofas for the price of the covers,she said I couldn't and where? Said DFS,she said they were rubbish. At this point she has turned them upside down and said they were well made. Didn't buy from them last time because the backs were too low.

I adore our loaf sofas. Large dixie and the loveseat. SO comfy and no annoying cushions to plump up.

I’ve got a Parker Knoll sofa, chosen because it was the only sofa that had a high enough back to be comfortable. It’s been battered by two toddlers and is still perfect. Cleans up lovely and is timeless in our period house. I wouldn’t buy anything else (and will get this reupholstered before I bought new)

I like a high back too, will check out Parker Knoll - thanks. I fine the low backed ‘loft’ style sofas so uncomfortable.

I also notice only one recommendation for Loaf, I love their sofas but wrong style for our 1920 house.

Mine’s from Next. It’s done me well for nearly 20 years but it’s ready for replacing - mostly due to my cat though. And he’s the reason I’m not buying a new one yet.

Our DFS corner sofa is 9 years old and still going strong. Which is annoying, because I want to replace it, but can't justify getting a new one while it's in such good condition!

Lots of people buy fireproof foam cuts to refill their sits seats with.

The salesman told me that they don’t. Hmm, dud he fib to me? 🤔 Google tell me that when I bought my previous sofa’s DFS and Sofology were separate companies. My recent order, arriving on Monday (only replacing as, in a moment of madness, I ordered white leather. 4 years on, it’s trashed) would have been made after the takeover. There have been lots of delays (presumably due to problems with transport). It was ordered in the Spring. Maybe the commission thing hadn’t been implemented then. I’ll give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

I bought mine from Loft Living. Good shop.

Highly HIGHLY recommend Delcor. Their sofas are fabulous.

My new one arrived today. The previous one was great to wipe off dirty paw marks (2 small dogs and 2 cats), but scratched like a bitch! The new one is fabric. It had been in the house 25 minutes when one of the dogs came in, jumped up and put mud on it 😬🤬

We gave up on waiting for Made to deliver our order (months) so cancelled. Tbf, they refunded straightaway. We ordered from Daals instead. Really lovely to look at and comfortable but weirdly lightweight. I was used to sofas that weighed a ton before these ones.

I bought my corner sofa from then on credit
it was 900 from 1500 due to being ex display
i paid 50 a month then settled the debt

That's nice of them. I waited for 8 months for something to arrive from made, was meant to be 6 weeks. They then delivered to the wrong address. Massive waste of time!

I’ve had 2 from SofaSofa for-around 8 years. Think they are called Napoli. Very cheap and washable.

I'm getting my new one in sofology

We have had two DFS sets of sofas, the first lasted nearly 15 years and the second we have had for 4 years. They have both been excellent quality and I think they look good too.

Blow the budget. Loaf. Beautiful comfy sofas. Showrooms are nice.
