Personally I'd paint the floor tiles a lighter shade too, to lift it, but that's just me. I think you're not keen on the potential brevity of paint on a floor and would rather accessorise or re-lay.

What colour should I paint the ceiling of my stairs and landing? Walls are staying white.

I also need a large feature light as it is a lovely high ceiling that deserves something special (but not £££££!)
