I’m trying to organise an overnight stay in a hotel for a treat but my companion is a compulsive vaper.
Im not sure how to proceed as everywhere non smoking, will this be a deal breaker?

Seriously, you sound like such a plonker. Vapes do not stink. I know that, you tknow that. You just want to judge. Total Muppet.

They do stink and the smell lingers

Nobody can smell vape after the last person checked out and the room’s been cleaned.

Is this the new line from smokers that they don’t stink when they clearly do after they’ve had a fag?

my mum has severe asthma and she absolutely can tell when someone has been vaping

its not allowed, why would you do it?

LeafyMcLeafFace · 01/02/2026 21:29

Of course vaping affects people, anyone who says it doesn’t it either in denial, lying or an idiot. My asthma is awful if I have to sit next to someone who’s been vaping, not as dramatically as cigarettes but it’s still bad.

The fruity ones also smell foul, although they don’t all smell bad.

What do you think they clean that gets rid of it? Hoover the floors? Change the bedding? It clings to everything. I live with a vaper and its every bit as disgusting as when he smoked.

Vapers are vaping not smoking.

I don’t believe anyone can smell vape in a room hours later.

This thread is about vaping in a hotel room.

I’ve said several times that people should obey the rules. But I do not for a moment believe that vaping in a hotel room affects the next occupant at all.

I do not believe that the vaping in your house has as bad an effect of smell as smoking did. In fact I don’t believe it has any lasting effect at all.

People check out of hotel rooms hours before the room is re-occupied. I mentioned cleaning because it’s why there’s time between check out and check in. Vaping would not leave any smell after that time. The cleaning products would leave a much stronger smell. But that doesn’t to seem to bother people.

Just get them to vape by an open window

Not all hotels have windows that can be opened.

But there are so many people on this thread telling you they absolutely can

why does your mistruth tell they can’t when very very many random people telling you they absolutely can?

Because it’s so implausible. I’d love to see a test done. If I’m wrong and people can consistently tell that someone’s vaped in a hotel room v an identical room without vape, I’ll concede that I’m wrong. But until then I’ll judge it on common sense likelihoods.

The alarm will not go off if ou vape. Honestly get a bloody grip. Book the hotel room

I vaped in the bathroom of my hotel room in France, set the alarm off and 2 members of staff immediately hammered on the bedroom door in a panic. So they absolutely do go off!

I’m aware of that, there are also a number of people discussing it more generally, because some people don’t believe there are any effects at all of vaping.

Threads work like that.
