Check out before paid for breakfast

We are about to book our first package holiday and wondering what happens about breakfast if your transfer doe return flight leaves before breakfast? Isn’t that a bit unfair since you’ve paid for it?! The travel co (jet2) have said you get told your transfer time 72 hours ahead.

I can’t believe all the shitty replies the op is getting here. Someone clearly left the gate open at the cunt farm.

It’s 11am so I’d guess we’d have to leave hotel at around 7.
im
planning on talking nicely to the staff and getting some extra cold bits (cereal boxes etc) the day before to eat at the airport. Hopefully that will work…

Just buy something at the airport ffs. This is ridiculous!

Are you planning on eating the cereal dry at the airport or will you bring milk in a thermos, a bowl and a spoon too?

Peakpeakpeak · 31/08/2024 18:13

Fucking hell, they just keep on coming.

Our hotel did a breakfast bag.

It's just how it works. If you'd had a night flight, you'd be able to get food all day. But you technically haven't paid for that day. But they give it to you anyway. So just choose later flights if you want to get your money worth.

Jesus!
Just get a brew& pastries at the airport!
Or in future book flights that mean you can pinch every last penny to your heart's content

No need to be quite so unpleasant!

I only asked! I’ve never done a package holiday before and don’t know how it works.
I assumed if you were paying for 5 nights half board you’d be getting 5 breakfasts. It turns out I was wrong and and a totally awful person for being wrong and asking for advice.
thank goodness I don’t work with some of you lot and need actual advice in real life.

some of you have been v lovely and helpful though so I thank you!

Yes obviously. Of course I am. I’m
that much of a twat.
Clearly I need to give my head a wobble and get back to my scummy penny pinching life quietly without bothering you high and mighty folk who like paying for things and not getting them.

Whenever we've had a very early start from a hotel, they have always either provided a limited breakfast buffet or given us a packed breakfast. Whenever we've been in Egypt, we normally go out very early before it gets hot, and we just let reception know the day before so thst they can get something ready for us. If you're on a package, the hotel should know roughly what time you are leaving and will make arrangements for something to be available for you before you go.

You're not wrong, honestly. Loads of resorts will either let you in early or provide a takeaway breakfast, and the people assuring you it won't happen have no idea. As well as the gates being left open at the cunt farm, they were also left open at the dipshit farm.

See if they can do you breakfast box or take away.

We had an early flight and would miss the breakfast. The hotel did a breakfast box which had drink, sandwich and a sweet.

They may even post the breakfast out to him

CeeJay81 · 31/08/2024 20:04

It's just the way package holidays work. It often doesn't workout to be 7 breakfast, 7 lunches and 7 dinners for example if your A.I. it rarely works that way with flight times. We are going away later in the year. We will arrive at the hotel I'd say about 4pm on the first day, but will have to leave the hotel about 9.30am the last day. So will technically miss one lunch.

HeddaGarbled · 31/08/2024 20:16

Would you leap at the option of paying for a three course meal and the staff not letting you have pudding

That’s not a reasonable analogy. That scenario is 20-30% the cost of the meal. In your actual situation, one missed breakfast out of the total cost of the holiday is a fraction so tiny, it seems more trouble than it’s worth to even think about it, let alone start a thread on Mumsnet.

AtomicBlondeRose · 31/08/2024 20:36

I do sometimes wonder how some of the posters here get on in the real world, where people have all sorts of random conversations and odd questions. This is exactly the sort of thing someone might ask, say, at work in an idle moment and I’d be very surprised to hear someone else react the way posters on here have.

Andoutcomethewolves · 31/08/2024 20:42

I've only ever done two AI type holidays and both had early morning return flights. Both were more than happy to make up a breakfast pack - can't remember exactly what was in each but some kind of mix of bread rolls, pastries, fruit, sliced cold meats and cheeses, mini packs of butter and various spreads, yoghurt and cartons of juice. Just ask reception!

I get why you're asking btw, airport food is extortionate and maybe I'm a cheapskate but I would resent handing over 15 quid for a limp cheese toasties and crap coffee at the airport knowing there's a slap up buffet laid on back at the hotel!

It's not really more trouble than it's worth since OP has now found out that she may well be able to get breakfast at the hotel before leaving.
