What has been your favourite family holiday in recent years? Either in UK or nearby Europe.

(I don't want to know about holidays when you stayed at home. I'm looking for inspiration.)

And why was it your favourite holiday? (Because if it was because your dp proposed to you I won;t be able to recreate that.)

Love Lyme Regis, Beer and surrounding areas.

We have booked though Lyme Bay Holidays a few times, there's another company called Jean Barret (???) holidays. (self-catering cottages)

Yes, it was Take the High Road, thank you!!

I'm ashamed that I knew that!

Martian bishop!! Can't believe you've been to Skipness!!!!!! My Granny has lived there for donkeys!!!! All our summer hols were there when we were kids!!! Seems bizarre that someone on mumsnet has heard of it and actually BEEN there!!! Also bizarre to see it on the internet!

Anyway, in answer to the OP, my fave hols ahev been camping in France - various sites in a mobile, camping in Duinrell and a 3 night break with DH to Berlin!!

never rated Skipness as a fave but when I took my LOs there they adored it!! have t admit it has changed in recent years with the seafood cabin, shop doing teas etc when we were kids the shop sold magazines that were about 2 years out of date and the same ones were there year after year! Still has a red phone box tho!!

We did it as part of a 3.5 week tour of scotland and we thought it was magical. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, castle on site (we went round there in the dark with torches looking for Ghosties! LOL)

It was just great

Zante in 2006 and Ayia Napa in 2007.

Sunny, drinks, nice meals, cheap.

Pointy, Billy Bragg and his wife 'threw open the doors of their beauituful seaside retreat' to Living Etc a few years ago.

Lots of guff spouted about trinkets picked up in Malaysia and antique doors remodelled by local artisans.

Put me right off him (as if I needed any assistance in the despising BB dept.)

pointydog · 03/02/2008 20:52

oh
I like Billy Bragg

Kefalonia a few years ago - lovely people, lovely food, beautiful scenery, empty beaches and gorgeous weather in early October.
Sardinia also a few years ago - beautiful cottage, fantastic weather, Italian food...
Cornwall really impressed me too. I don't know why I've never been keen on holidays in the UK (I'm Spanish) but when I was finally convinced to go to Cornwall I had a fantastic time and really loved the area. Also had a great short break in Loch Lomond.
