margoandjerry,

I am not an urban driver so I guess in your eyes I am 'off the hook', but tbh I wouldn't care if I was in the firing line and everyone villified me for driving a 4x4. Don't generally give a stuff what other people think .There is no victim mentality here or gentle sobbing in a corner. Find it all vaguely amusing..and yes, quite fascinating as an insight into the human pysche

lol!

Spidermama · 24/03/2007 09:59

I hate the extra room 4x4s require driving around in cities. They are massive clumsy beasts which take up far too much road space. I hate being stuck behind them and I hate that they slow everyone down manouvering on small city roads with cars parked either side.

It infuriates me that they puff out so much more filthy fumes at pavement level than other, normal, fit for the purpose cars.

They also straddle the pavement often when parked or jut out far too much into the road.

The look agressive and tank like, hostile to those outside them, and unashamadly so - as it obvious on this thread and others like it.

But as long as you feel safe and enjoy the ride, well who gives a flying fuck about the rest of us eh?

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:01

You hold onto that hate Spidermama, if it makes you feel better [benign emoticon]

McCadburysDreamyegg · 24/03/2007 10:01

But it's not always about not giving a flying fuck for others, some people need them.

Also the emission on my 4x4 is better than some much older smaller cars but they don't get so much aggression aimed at them

pointydog · 24/03/2007 10:06

aaaaa blueglass, your work here is done

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:07

McCadbury - don't feel you have to justify your choices...why should you?

You can bet your bottom dollar that many of the most vociferous detractors won't be giving up jetting off in the sun for their summer holiday (lets all turn a blind eye to our carbon footprint when it inconveniences us eh?)

haven't been abroad since I was six

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:08

Lol pointydog - I don't think her work is done just yet however. This thread has not yet really sunk into the mire of exchanging personal insults yet

4x4 are knobby cars for knobby people, all the people i know with them are knobs, but i wouldn't give them a hard time about it they can't help it

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:09

I said 'most' quadrophenia - not all. And I wasn't just talking about this thread but attitudes (and air travelling behaviour) amongst the general population at large

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:10

Spoke too soon! - personal insults have begun.Lol

(how sad....)

McCadburysDreamyegg · 24/03/2007 10:11

DH might be a knob but you might like to ask the family of the man he diagnosed and sent into hospital if they agree - trouble is when you see us as a family shopping on a Saturday morning you wouldn't know that.

pointydog · 24/03/2007 10:11

FIIIIGGGHHHHTTTT!

Let's have a challenge. Can you make personal insults that are also original and humorous?

handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:12

Damn just when it was getting interesting I have to go somewhere and do something profoundly dull (a stock inventory at Pre-School). I shall look out for two finger salutes whilst driving there...

Will check in later to have a laugh at the mud slinging

McCadburysDreamyegg · 24/03/2007 10:12
Grin
handlemecarefully · 24/03/2007 10:13

Yes I can Quad - but you will have to wait sadly. I should have been somewhere else quarter of an hour ago!

Spidermama · 24/03/2007 10:15

IME 4x4 drivers aren'tr so much knobs as wannabe knobs.

lilymolly · 24/03/2007 10:41

Oh fuck off with the name calling.
Whilst I appreciate everyone has their individual views on 4 x 4, how fucking dare you call me a knob for driving a 4 x 4.
I am sure you do things that I do not agree with, and I would quite happily have a discussion about it, but would never call any one names.

edam · 24/03/2007 10:46

Deep, you didn't 'question' anything, you made an accusation which is demonstrably false. You've failed to back up your accusation because it's not true. And now you say 'get over it'? How old are you exactly?

If I'd insulted someone's professional integrity and been proved wrong I'd apologise.

Spidermama · 24/03/2007 10:47

PMSL @ 'Fuck off with the name calling'.
