Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

Irishtown - no one ever informed me that my status has been updated, I just knew it online when I logged in, so I don't have the tracking number for delivery, but I have asked DHL and they said if the address is not detailed enough to access, they will contact the sender to cross-check again, or if they cannot find somebody home to sign the document they will leave a note for you to call back, then they can arrange re-send or you go to their office to pick up.

hellyo18 · 23/06/2014 07:42

Tealover I rang the call centre Saturday and asked for a callback toldd them I didnt have tracking number but had sent it to liverpool and wanted an update on progress, wr travel 15 july. Liverpool rang yesterday and no problem without number to be seems to be getting callback that alot of people have issues with

tealover1985 · 23/06/2014 08:44

Right I'm going to ask for a callback now then. They wouldn't do anything last time before 7days before but maybe depends who you speak to.

lurkingmurking · 23/06/2014 11:04

Ours were submitted on 4th June and received by Belfast on 8th June. Called today and they are still going through examination process.

Belfast direct number just goes to a mailbox which is full.

Janjanmama · 23/06/2014 11:54

Have just received a phone call from DHL telling me that the address is not cpmpleted. Obviously the passport office forgot to update. It's good DHL called. So now they will deliver tomorrow morning! Yeahhh!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 23/06/2014 12:07

Sunshine that's the Durham passport office. My Postie has been this morning and there's no passport today but I'll give it until the weekend then will call them again if it hasn't arrived.

doradoo · 23/06/2014 12:13

Anyone got any info re overseas applications? I sent of DS1s renewal on 15 May from Germany to the UK - the online tracker says 'declaration form received being processed' as it has for the past 3 weeks.....

We travel on 19 July - but are effectively stuck with no ID where we are....

I know it's meant to take longer (6wks usually) for overseas/from Germany - but wondered if anyone had any current information.

chocchoc30 · 23/06/2014 12:45

So been waiting since last Tuesday for a call back and have had nothing. Going to call them again in a minute.

Janjanmama · 23/06/2014 13:19

doradoo - my overseas application (dd's 3rd renewal) timeline:

May 1 Liverpool confirmed app. form received
June 21 Online status changed to 'Dispatched'
June 23 DHL called to confirm address
June 24 Deliver

chocchoc30 · 23/06/2014 13:24

It looks like we aren't going. The passport office refuse to do anything until wednesday. So we either go just the two of us and leave my daughter behind or we cancel the whole holiday.

Clr2014 · 23/06/2014 13:56

This is making me feel sickHmm we are supposed to travel on Saturday morning. Have now been promised a call back for the third time... 2 highest escalation forms have been filled in on my behalf but Durham are not doing anything about them. Got a text saying forms had arrived on 23 May but still in examination process 4/5 weeks later. I don't know what else to do. I heard of a couple missing their holiday last week despite being 'fast tracked' HmmHmm

SaveTheMockingBird · 23/06/2014 14:12

I submitted my application for a childs renewal on the 2nd June through check and send. They confirmed they received it on the 4th June. Still waiting, although still within the 3 week period. I have just e-mailed them via the online tracking system to check progress.
Has anyone done this and are they prompt in their response? I think if I haven't heard anything by next week, I'll call the 0300 number. We are not flying till 27th July, but still nervous about getting it on time.

JamJimJam · 23/06/2014 14:19

I sent my ds renewal on 11 June, they got it on 14th.

My dh has just spoken to a v nice person at Peterborough. She said she thinks we'll get it back in plenty of time for our 18th July flight, but if we haven't had it by the 10th, we should upgrade to a fast track to guarantee.

This has really set my mind at ease.

tealover1985 · 23/06/2014 15:01

I've just got through to Liverpool after 28 minutes so they do sometimes answer! Passport currently being printed and should be here Wednesday. I'm so relieved. That will be exactly 4weeks from when they received it.

lloydlf76 · 23/06/2014 15:13

A top too for anyone sending their forma from Wales is to fill in the Welsh form. It's exactly the same so just use the English version as a template. My friend sent her daughter's form off last Monday and received the completed passport on Friday! The Welsh forms are processed separately and obviously the numbers are miniscule in comparison to the English ones.

Kikaninchen · 23/06/2014 15:22

Doradoo snap, I sent a child and adult renewal on 18th May from Germany, and we are still waiting too, we have the same status as you, and have had for the last 4 weeks.

I phoned them up - they said I should wait until it has been 6 weeks since they received it, and then phone again Hmm.

DH sent his on 1st April and got it back 18th May, also from Germany, and that was before they had problems (or at least before they admitted to having them).

Lookingforadvice123 · 23/06/2014 15:22

Gah wish I'd sent mine in welsh, I'm a welsh speaker too!!!

JimJamJim that's (a bit) reassuring for me - I sent mine same day as you and it's in Peterborough, I don't travel til 1st August. Mine wasn't received until 16th though - it was received in Newport on the 13th then sent on to Peterborough. Why they do that I've got no idea, but at least I should only be a couple of days behind you.

funambulist · 23/06/2014 15:38

SaveTheMockingBird I've got very similar dates to you!

I also sent off a child's renewal via check and send on 4 June.

I sent an email via the on-line tracking system after a couple of weeks as I hadn't received a text confirming receipt. It took them a few days to reply and in the meantime I'd cracked and phoned the 0300 number, so by the time I got a response to my email I already knew that the application had been received on 5/6 June and that it had gone to the Belfast office.

It's now 3 weeks since I sent the application off so I called Belfast direct this morning and they weren't able to tell me any more. In fact they sounded a bit surprised that I was calling, "We've only had it since 5 June!"

They didn't give me any more information, so I'm kind of assuming that nothing at all has happened since they received it on 5 June.

The person I spoke to suggested that I call back later this week so I'm hoping that my phone call today might spur them to actually start looking at the application so that they can look like they've made some progress when I call back. It is as straightforward an application as you can imagine. There is no reason why it couldn't be done quickly really.

funambulist · 23/06/2014 15:39

Sorry, that should read that I sent off the application on 2 June.

jazzypinkpuppet · 23/06/2014 15:55

I sent my sons standard renewal by check and send on the 2nd June too. I know they got it the 4th June in Peterborough so not three weeks yet. I won't ring until next but must admit I have been feeling a bit twitchy. I am sure I wouldn't have even thought about it if it hadn't been in all the papers etc. I think they have caused so much panic and a bigger problem, my friends just put her forms in and she doesn't need them until January but she said "ooo I don't want to leave it any later with all the trouble going on" so they will have even more forms to process.

funambulist · 23/06/2014 16:15

Yes, jazzypinkpuppet it did occur to me that all the news coverage of the problems might lead to people who would have otherwise sent applications off in July, August and September, sending them off early, just in case, thus increasing the volume that the passport offices have to deal with.

I'm not sure when they calculate the three weeks from. My email said to allow three weeks if you send the application via check and send and to allow four weeks if you send in the normal post (to allow for postage time). So doesn't that imply that the three weeks is calculated from the date you submit via check and send and you don't need to allow an extra week for postage time?

All academic of course as they clearly aren't keeping to the three week service standard, however calculated, for many applications at the moment, as illustrated by the surprise from the Belfast Office today that I should expect any progress at all when they've "only" had my application since 5 June.

I do still have time in hand, having sent it off in good time, but it's hard not to worry reading the stories on this thread.

jazzypinkpuppet · 23/06/2014 16:15

Chocchoc30 don't give up, my neighbours are flying tomorrow, the passport office phoned them yesterday to arrange fast track and they got the passport today. You might still make it, stay positive xx

jazzypinkpuppet · 23/06/2014 16:20

yes Funambulist, I totally agree hard not to worry, I keep thinking about it. Still have a few weeks so not in full on panic mode yet.
I think once they are looked at they are processed very quickly if there is nothing wrong, although read lots of people with child renewals having their countersignature written to to verify details.

sunshinehopeful · 23/06/2014 16:44

lurkingmurking Keep trying as u can ring them one minute and get the voice box then they'll answer the next.
