Since the last thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/a2043055-Passport-Processing-Time) is now full I though we could continue our discussions here!

OP posts:
Janjanmama · 21/06/2014 01:27

Just knew that dd's passport has been printed! [happy] After waiting for 7 whole weeks. Still anxious before it really arrives!

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/06/2014 07:10

Great news janjanmama ! The lady I spoke to at Newport said it should only take around 48 hrs for printing and posting, so fingers crossed you get it by tues at the latest.

To the pp who sent theirs off 2nd June and received within the 3 week timeframe, that's v reassuring! I was 11th June so really hope it's the same!

Be11e · 21/06/2014 07:17

Can anyone answer the following? I was told on Thursday I'd be called back within 48 hr. Do they call on Saturdays or does it jump to Monday? Trying to figure out if I should stay stuck to the phone.

I received a text on 3rd June acknowledging receipt of application ( child's first passport). No money has been deducted from my credit card. How long after fee had been taken did your passport arrive?

This passport stuff is starting to mess with my sleep Hmm

Janjanmama · 21/06/2014 07:21

Thank you thank you Lookingforadvicr Smile Hope I will get it next week. Will keep you all posted!

For some others who are still waiting, keep faith. I have been chasing this passport for 7 weeks. Xx

dalziel1 · 21/06/2014 07:27

Has anyone said that you gte a text message when they have sent it for printing? So, you know that its about a week away at that point?

DS's child renewal took 6 weeks.

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 21/06/2014 07:37

.

chocchoc30 · 21/06/2014 07:42

Be11e keep calling they don't phone back we are currently waiting for another call back.
I think they do open on Saturdays.

piratecat · 21/06/2014 07:48

the money was taken from my account on a few days before they say they received my renewal passport applications.

i had gone to their site to request an email to let me know when they got it.

they got it 9 th June but the money went out few days before so not sure which way round it works.

Janjanmama · 21/06/2014 07:55

I didn't get any text saying that it goes for printing but I can track online status.

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/06/2014 09:39

The money was taken from my account on the day it was sent, is that normal using check and send?

This is what annoys me about the whole fiasco, yes ok some people might've left it until the last minute eg applying 4 weeks before a holiday, but at the end of the day the passport office says it takes 3 weeks, and as it's blinkin expensive, you would expect the service to be as it's advertised - it's not like it's free!

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/06/2014 09:40

Ps I didn't get a text to say it's been received so rang the advice line earlier in the week...they said it had been received and that "not everyone gets the text message". Great service Hmm

Caz306 · 21/06/2014 09:42

They recieved my passport on 28th May and money was taken from my bank the next day 29th may. I was told by the Durham office they take payment first before it's even looked at and processed. 4 weeks and still not been looked at.

Caz306 · 21/06/2014 09:42

That was for piratecat

kutiekathryn · 21/06/2014 10:26

Got an interview date for my partner for first adult passport on Tuesday! So relieved as was beginning to panic big time as it's been 5 and a half weeks since we sent it. I emailed my MP and emailed Paul Pugh and rang them almost everyday and told them we fly 2nd July so not sure which worked but I don't care now we have a date lol For all first time adult passports it's looking like it is taking 6 weeks turnaround! Good luck to everyone!

Janjanmama · 21/06/2014 10:59

Hi kutie, so happy for you! I was thinking about your status when I knew that mine has been moved up to 'has been printed'. Hope everything of you go smooth!

kutiekathryn · 21/06/2014 11:04

Aw that's fantastic news about yours being printed janjanmama! This forum has helped me a lot and I hope everyone gets the good news that we have got! :)

funambulist · 21/06/2014 14:11

Thanks for the information sunshinehopeful we don't fly for a while, so I'm not panicking yet. Next weekend would be fine. I'm going to get in touch to check that they haven't forgotten me once it hits 3 weeks (Monday 23 June).

Lookingforadvice123 I agree with you. Passport office advice when I sent my application in was allow 3 weeks and the advice if you look on-line etc is still that. I allowed more time than 3 weeks but only because I'm a worrier, I wouldn't blame someone paying close to £100 for a straightforward renewal to take the advice at face value. There are all sorts of reasons why you as customer might submit quite close to the date of travel. In my case I would have put the application in a bit earlier but my son needed his passport for a school trip so I waited until he got back. Then, it can take a few days to get photos and counter signatory sorted out and get to one of the Post Offices that do check and send.

Irishtown · 21/06/2014 15:10

Do dhl work weekends for delivery

Be11e · 21/06/2014 15:15

I managed to get through using the 0300 number today. They're open until 17:30 (for call backs) on a Saturday.

I'm waiting on a call to tell me my application number, stupidly I didn't note it.

hellyo18 · 21/06/2014 16:06

Rang call centre today didnt have to wait round long, lost barcode so waiting for callback from liverpool to see if they stayed there when posted and check on progress. Wont hold my breath!

Be11e · 21/06/2014 16:31

Hellyo18, in a similar situation to you. When did you post yours?

hellyo18 · 21/06/2014 16:39

Be11e Posted 27/5 guaranteed next day delivery 28/5 text to say recieve d on 30/5. If hadnt been for all the now known backlog wouldnt be quite so twitched.

Clr2014 · 21/06/2014 16:55

Mine have been at the examination stage for 4 weeks now:-( travel in one week. Being processed by Durham. Is there a direct number?

Desperatemummy1 · 21/06/2014 17:05

Durham direct dial in 08456015175 be prepared to wait ignore the recorded message someone will pick up. Best time to call is in the morning minimal waiting time (open from 8am)

vinoandbrie · 21/06/2014 17:20

My timeline so far is:

22 May Sent newborn's application for a first passport via check and send to Liverpool office
26 May received text acknowledging receipt of application
18 June (following online progress enquiry) receive standard email saying "Your passport application is currently going through the examination process".
19 June - have made another online progress enquiry
Today - called 0300 number and left my number for a call back.

Is there anything else I can do? We are due to fly 10 July. I fear it's looking hopeless....
