Anyone have any idea on processing time of First Passports at the moment? We sent our daughters application via check and send almost 2 weeks ago and no idea on when to expect it back. Hopefully someone can shed some light?!

Thehogopogo - I would advise phoning the 0845 number and contact your MP immediately. Be prepared to drive to the passport office in attempt to collect it!

BeyondBurma · 14/06/2014 22:16

Clarinsgirl I only actually rang twice and the first time they told me it would be very difficult to track me and the second time they found me immediately but it was the 0300 number and so couldn't tell me anymore. I was promised a 48 hour call back that never came BUT much better than that my 3 passports turned up 72 hours later!

So I submitted them May 19th and received them back on June 11th which is pretty good really and tbh if I hadn't seen all the panic on here and then it all hitting the news I wouldn't have really started to worry.

They were 3 renewals - 2 children and I adult.

Keep the faith!!!!

clarinsgirl · 14/06/2014 22:39

Thanks Burma. I posted on 29th May and got text confirmation of receipt on 3rd June. I'm hoping they just come through the week after next. The media hype is what has worried me. We don't travel until 2nd Aug but we really need this holiday. Everytime DS2 says 'My go on holiday, my go on aeroplane', my stomach sinks. I just want it sorted.

northernpapa · 14/06/2014 23:41

And you have to pay for a long cert also :(

thehogopogo · 15/06/2014 08:52

Hairbrush- I've tried contacting MP-no answer. I'm on the Wirral, and yet for some reason the kids passports are in Belfast! I already have so many numbers for them, but can't find the 0845 number?? So many posts on this thread! (Can't believe I didn't check here earlier)

thehogopogo · 15/06/2014 09:21

Just got through to very helpful guy. He said it's extremely unlikely the passports will be with us for Tuesday Sad there needs to be a crying emoticon added to mumsnet btw (sniff sniff)

Janjanmama · 15/06/2014 09:25

hogopogo
Sorry to hear... hv u tried to tweet your MP? It'll be faster for a response.

Jhutchings18 · 15/06/2014 09:27

thehogopogo... They told my wife that!! They actually said over the phone "I'm 90% certain your passports won't arrive in time"....

We then had the long awaited call-back on Thursday... Collected from Liverpool Friday... And our bus to the airport picks us up in 1.5 hours!!

Keep ringing... Tell them you'll upgrade... Tell them you'll pay to upgrade... Tell them you'll collect it!

Jhutchings18 · 15/06/2014 09:32

Just realised you're on the Wirral... That's ridiculous... The Liverpool office is so near to you, yet they've sent them over there!!

I'd go to the office and play hell!!

rima94 · 15/06/2014 09:45

The passport office keep telling me that I'm definitely going to get my passport back by thursday but I can't get through to the Liverpool office does anyone know if they answer on Sundays? Getting panicky :(

Irishtown · 15/06/2014 09:51

Mine are in Belfast too. Im ringing them at 9 tomorrow

rima94 · 15/06/2014 09:59

Irishtown, when are you going away?

Irishtown · 15/06/2014 10:20

Im going August 23rd so you'd think I have plenty of time but im uk overseas and they take longer even though ours are 3 adult renewals. I was talking to a Manager up there yesterday and he told me to ring back Monday. It seems that overseas applications are put to the side and not touched

rima94 · 15/06/2014 10:27

oh really? that must be so frustrating. It seems like a lot of applications are just put to one side and ignored. I'm sick of 'sitting tight' and waiting.

Irishtown · 15/06/2014 10:39

This Passport saga is taking over my life. For christ sake why do some get theirs back early and others waiting a life time. Instead of pulling applications and getting people upgraded just dothem in date order of being received. Money making racket frustrated beyond belief

rima94 · 15/06/2014 10:46

Does anyone know when the Liverpool passport office open their phone lines tomorrow?

Janjanmama · 15/06/2014 11:03

Irishtown when did they receive your forms? i'm uk overseas too they received mine on 1 May.

Hairbrush123 · 15/06/2014 11:27

Thehogo - my passport went to Belfast! The direct number I used was 0845 601 9031! Sadly they're not open on a weekend but phone them at 9 AM tomorrow sharp! Can you change your date of travel?

Hairbrush123 · 15/06/2014 11:31

What time is your flight on Tuesday, thehogo? If it's late at night, you could get them printed and sent off tomorrow for a charge on the 0845 601 9031 and get it delivered to you in the morning!

Hairbrush123 · 15/06/2014 11:38

Rima94 - they open at 9AM. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for an answer! But when I phoned sharp at 9 - I have never had to wait longer than 30 mins for an answer.

thehogopogo · 15/06/2014 11:44

Need to be at airport for 11:30am!! Jhutch- Thanks for that! I will keep trying, but I just can't see it happening...could change flights, but am hesitant to book anytime soon just in case this hasn't been sorted by then.
I understand that if we cancel with easyjet, we should at least get airport taxes back, a small consolation!

rima94 · 15/06/2014 11:47

hairbrush123- thanks, how quick were they in dealing with your request? I'm in London and I'm even willing to drive up there but I need it latest thursday, d'ya reckon i'll get it in time?

Hairbrush123 · 15/06/2014 11:53

Rims94, last Monday my passport was alerted as urgent examination, examined on Wednesday, printed on Thursday, and arrived by courier on Friday. But I imagine you need it quicker - tell them you're willing to drive up to the office and pay for it if necessary.

Hairbrush123 · 15/06/2014 12:13

Rima94 - I think you will get it in time. Especially if you're willing to drive to the passport office on Thursday to pick it up & pay for an upgrade. Just remember to phone at 9AM sharp and tell them your date of travel & tell them you're willing to collect the passport and upgrade if needs be. Good luck.

rima94 · 15/06/2014 12:49

Hairbrush123- the thing i'm waiting for them to receive some additional info from me which is getting there on tuesday before 12 noon, d'ya reckon they'll be able to examine it that same day and then print it on Wednesday so I can collect it on Thursday? I'm getting panicky that it's taking so long to examine it...
