Passport Processing Time

Anyone have any idea on processing time of First Passports at the moment? We sent our daughters application via check and send almost 2 weeks ago and no idea on when to expect it back. Hopefully someone can shed some light?!

I think this claim that "99% of straight forward applications are processed within 4 weeks". I believe my child's first passport application is straight forward, but my husband said is that they probably aren't including any "first" passports in that category!!! And if they do, then we are in the 1%.
Will call Durham again tomorrow to make sure they haven't forgotten us.

I just received my DD's first passport today - 2 weeks after the passport office confirmed receipt. We're travelling on July 5th so was getting very stressed that I'd not allowed enough time particularly given current headlines... Perhaps the passport office are getting it together a bit?

funambulist Did you manage to get through? I put mine in via check and send a week ago and still haven't had a text or anything. Just wondering whether or not to chase. Only 2 weeks til the kids break up. we've not booked anything but would like to go ASAP.

I sent mine via check and send late on fri May 23rd (following mon was the bank hol) and got a text to say they received it on May 28th. I'm not sure which office it went to but probably Peterborough as that's where my passport went a couple of weeks before.

MrsBm we sent my husband's passport the same day as you did and got the text the same day you did we all so done check and send we don't fly till end of July so please let's keep each other updated the passport application whet to Liverpool we recently done our daughters passport that application went to durham we had it back in like 4 weeks we got it last week Monday

Fun i didn't get a text but my status changed today to being processed. Mines only been in Belfast a week but I've been chasing them already. I can't take the chance of something being wrong even though they are renewals. I fly August to USA and can't take chances. Keep ringing and asking questions Don't let them forget you

Hi irishtown i live in ireland, ill give the belfast number a ring tomorrow i tried today but no joy.

I'm in Ireland too. Let's hope the bad publicity encourages them to get a move on. I will not rest till I have our passports and I can do my immigration for USA and get Virgin to issue my flight tickets. Then I can start looking forward

Just called Durham office again. They said my application is with the upgrade team like they said last time. But will only get called closer to travel date (21 June). Apparently they are working on people travelling this weekend / Monday / Tuesday. And they are working on a 72 hour basis and can print passports in 4 hours. Still cutting it very fine!!!

Quick question - how long are people spending on hold to Liverpool? Ive been listening to the same message for 32 minutes so far (0845 6012058). Not sure if Im getting anywhere :(

Stefsof completely different any time I have rung. My waiting times range from 20 mins to 2 hours when I was extremely desperate to get hold of Liverpool. Will be ringing again later on so hopefully not too long today. Altho another day I rang 3 times and waited an hour each time and never got hold of anyone that day. Good luck! How long have they had your passports and when do you fly?

woo hoo! Just got a text to say...passport being printed. Send two password applications in (DD and I) and only one text but one of the forms didn't have that box which said they'd let you know by text (?older form). Am hoping that means they are both due soon. Hoping for some other good news for others waiting too.

I got through after 58 minutes. Lovely guy on the phone, passed onto priority team, and may have to travel 6 hours to Liverpool... At this point, I don't care! Keep at it guys...

6 weeks today for a renewal still waiting :(

stefsof do you fly soon and how long have they had your application? I am about 4 hours away and imagine this is what I will be having to do too!!

Funambulist I am also waiting for DS1's (15) third renewal - went by check and send on 31st May. We do not need it until 20th August so was feeling fairly relaxed but perhaps I shouldn't be? Like you I haven't received a text yet so perhaps I will put a call into them tomorrow when I am off work. Hope you hear something soon.

I'm really sorry to hear these nightmare situations. I only submitted my son's passport application (by Check and Send) two weeks ago but am already starting to panic because I have not received an acknowledgement text, despite giving my mobile number on the form. Has anyone else not received an acknowledgement but gone on to receive the passport? I've tried calling the various numbers but can't get through to anyone. We are travelling in four weeks time. Thanks :)

was just on hold for 50 minutes then got through to durham and was advised still not looked at and will be put through to upgrade team.

need it by 26th so hopefully it will all be sorted

Still not sure why my passport is 6 hours drive away. I live in Sandbanks, Poole. London would have been so much easier to get too if need be!

ElleSue, I didn't get any text to say they'd received the form only the text today to say it was being printed. Hope that reassures you a bit!
