For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

Warwick is great. My DC has a Warwick offer now for Maths. Still waiting on the others 🙄

Bejiox · 11/02/2026 19:00

Hello,
just wondering if any applicants waiting for Edinburgh offers are attending the online elective session workshop this evening? We (the royal we) are waiting for an offer but were sent an invite for this course, plus a few other online ones next week.

PalmedOlive · 11/02/2026 19:09

My dc got a UCL maths offer today. Thought I’d share as I know others are waiting for UCL too. Hopefully they’re sending them all out!

Wehaditsogood · 11/02/2026 19:11

@AuntyBulgaria DS expected zero points, so he did very well compared to that. He did way better than his friends. DS doesn't do FM, so all preparations were by himself. School was no help at all. I am ever so impressed by his grit, but Warwick probably won't be.
I still think it did him good.

Congratulations👏
My DC just had UCL maths too.
Now waiting on Imperial.
Where else has your DC applied/got offers from?

Llangewydd57 · 11/02/2026 20:14

Just remembered that I think your DC got Oxford. Mine rejected with a 90 on the MAT 🙄-so now keeping everything crossed for Imperial.

bettyjane · 11/02/2026 20:20

sorry to those who didn’t get the TMUA scores they hoped.
Well done on the UCL maths offers! I don’t think my DC has heard anything yet.

Rejected with 90 on the mat??? That’s insane. Hard to fathom their logic sometimes. We are also still waiting for Imperial then has all results in. Hope your dc gets a positive from imperial. My dc really liked it.

I know, I read on another thread a DC was rejected with a very high score…and like that DC mine also didn’t have that magic something they look for 🙄.

PalmedOlive · 12/02/2026 06:28

Your dc very much sounds like they have everything going for them and definitely not lacking any magic ingredients . They couldn’t have done any more and it shows it’s not an objective process. Fingers crossed your gear from Imperial soon then will have some exciting decisions to make.

UnimaginableWindBird · 12/02/2026 15:03

Phew. DD has an unconditional offer for her first choice and a might-as-well-be- unconditional for her second choice, so she just needs to go to the offer holder days to make sure that she still ranks them the same and then we can get accommodation sorted.

BrunchBarBandit · 12/02/2026 20:46

Anyone heard from LSE yet? Politics? DS has friends who have had rejections already but he’s heard zilch. Also waiting for UCL.

Offers received from KCL, Edinburgh and QML so far. We’re going to OHD for QML 7th March as it’s likely to be his insurance

My DC had only heard of students getting rejections this week-a mix of subjects. I believe LSE are always one of the later ones to give out offers. My DC had an offer through from UCL yesterday and quite a few others did too. Again a mix of subjects.

iwonttaketheeasyroad · 12/02/2026 22:58

Finally an offer from Birmingham. Very relieved DS as it was first choice .

CautiousLurker2 · 13/02/2026 20:02

Warwick Physics offer arrived today! A**AA, as expected. Fingers crossed we can get Southampton to lower their offer on interview and Manchester to do the same in April. :)

Llangewydd57 · 13/02/2026 20:45

Congrats to your DC on the offer from Warwick and good luck for the interviews.

gentilleprof7 · 15/02/2026 00:03

Still awaiting offer from Edinburgh. Theology/Divinity, specifically.

CautiousLurker2 · 15/02/2026 00:10

DS had his interview at Southampton today. Just to reassure others with interviews: they were lovely, friendly, laughed during the interviews, and were just keen to get to meet our DCs and get to know them. My DS said he really enjoyed it and it was one of the best parts of the visit day (and he is on the spectrum!!)

He got to shoot the breeze about quantum entablement and Schrödinger’s kittens (? I now about the cat but not her offspring) and whilst the session was scheduled for 10mins, but he spent over half an hour with them. I stayed home and knitted his college blanket, which is about as much as my brain can handle. 🤣

A really positive experience regardless of whether they reduce the offer grades.

Llangewydd57 · 15/02/2026 09:31

All sounds very positive @CautiousLurker2.
Southampton is great for STEM, I know quite a few parents of DC there at the moment or have graduated-all very positive experiences.
🤞for the reduced offer.

I need a new keyboard…. I definitely meant to type quantum entanglement… didn’t even know ‘entablement’ was a word!!

You lost me at the word quantum 😆😆

Lol that’s where I drop off too. For all I know quantum entablement is a thing. Perhaps it’s just not been discovered yet!

TodayIsatrickyone · 15/02/2026 11:38

That all sounds really positive @CautiousLurker2 Glad it went well and 🤞for a reduced offer.
DD has just had an offer from Leeds which I think she’s pleased about but still waiting to hear on Manchester ( her favourite) and Cardiff who seem to be taking their time. I’m trying to think no news is better than a rejection but I do wish she could hear soon.

CautiousLurker2 · 15/02/2026 13:55

What subject is it for at manchester @TodayIsatrickyone Great news on Leeds - several family members went there had a great experience.
