Is there a thread for this year’s applicants - I can’t seem to find with a search. Thanks for signposting 🙏

Yes indeed, well done everyone for applying and for those getting offers.
DC super chilled about interviews, believes no prep is needed as they could be asked anything 🙄. Still radio silence from all other universities.

Haha, we could do with a bit of that chill over here. DD, having just realised that she has two interviews, is planning a full programme of reading Very Long Books for the next four days. Not sure when she is planning to sleep.

Haywire · 03/12/2025 19:36

Not that chill here either, reality kicking in for daughter after yesterday’s high. For Physics apparently they will all have two interviews with their 1st college and an extra one with a 2nd college. No dates for these yet though. We need to sort out a whiteboard app over weekend - hopefully iPad will be fine.

BumpyaDaisyevna · 03/12/2025 20:09

Just coming on for DTwin 2 also!!!! 🤩 very pleased about that!
My Dd is thinking of applying next year for history so I’m just an observer atm.

Greenleave · 03/12/2025 20:16

Mine boards and will be home this weekend so will have some more info from her this weekend. She forwarded the invitation email and it was her chosen college so that was all I know. It was expected that there will be 4 interviews because of combined subjects but I have no idea if it is indeed the case yet. It will be loads of maths revisions and philosophy reads which what she love doing anyway so there wont be any moaning.

FirstdatesFred · 03/12/2025 20:24

Dd got her interview email today 🙂 very pleased for her and glad this part of the wait is over!

Llangewydd57 · 03/12/2025 20:42

Oh my goodness, my DC could do with taking a leaf out of your DCs book. He is delighted to have an interview but is more delighted to be off to another 18th party this weekend 😆

BridgeovertheriverTest · 03/12/2025 20:50

@Haywire, @Nuffalready @MonGrainDeSel @WhisperingAngelisnotbad @Greenleave @Llangewydd57 @mathsapp thank you- you are so kind! My DTwins were born premature and tiny after a pregnancy where I was given an 80% likelihood of losing them. The SCBU where they spent their early weeks in incubators had a hopeful wall of letters and photos of similar babies who had lived and thrived. I still pinch myself that they have made this journey together.

I think your DC is applying to do Maths? My brother did Maths at Oxford and was so chilled out about the whole thing with the interview that we were all really worried. Not to mention that he was, erm, not a natural communicator and we were concerned that he would sit there mute for the entire thing or possibly tell them they were idiots (standard issue for him). He did get in and we were so relieved.

Just before he left, they had some kind of drinks party and his tutor told him that 'It would have been fine whatever you'd said. You could probably have bitten me, based on your tests, and I'd still have let you in.'

So hopefully it will be similar for your DC (minus the biting and telling people they are idiots).

Llangewydd57 · 03/12/2025 21:01

Any of your DC applying for Maths related courses at Imperial? How did they get on in the TMUA? My DC got 7.8, thought he’d got higher but with the new scaling etc it is what it is. I have heard Imperial want 7.5 min so he is keeping his 🤞 crossed.

Love that story.

This is amazing. Well done to them and to you! What a journey.

Thank you! DTwin1 is up for History too so I can report back on how he finds the interview. It was my subject a million years ago so I'm always rooting for the Historians- the world needs more in this troubling age.

My subject too 🤗- and likewise a million years ago … definitely welcome all intel about history.

Good news about the Dtwins

pinkdelight · 03/12/2025 23:03

7.8 on the Tmua is great, surely they know that. Course dependent no doubt but at Imperial open day they say 5 was lower limit (last year, contextual, non-contextual higher but anything over 7 still great) and I read somewhere that barely 5% of home students scored over 8 so while there’s no guarantees your DC is fine as far as TMUA score goes.

Edited

Let’s hope so. He’s not contextual.

@Llangewydd57 That TMUA score is brilliant! My DS is hoping for over 5 when he takes it in Jan (for Warwick not Imperial), would be over the moon with anything above 6, your DC has done v v well!

Thank you. He’s hoping it’s good enough for consideration at Imperial. He is also very keen to get an offer from Warwick. I know last year students with 4.5 and a little below got Warwick offers.

Stellarbean · 04/12/2025 10:36

DS still waiting on Physics interview email. It appears to be the very last subject that gets sent out for his college.

The wait is awful, I know the feeling.
last year DC heard on the Friday before his interview on the following Wed (maybe it’s the same college). This year DC heard much earlier. Good luck to your DC…hope you hear very soon.

Mumski45 · 04/12/2025 11:19

@Stellarbean we are also still waiting for physics and philosophy. Good to know we are not the only ones.

WhisperingAngelisnotbad · 04/12/2025 11:20

No interview, sadly. However, Dc is not too disappointed. Good luck to your DC!
