Thank you 🙏🏻

temperedolive · 13/01/2026 10:03

I have more details now! The offer is from the third college she interviewed with, the one she ended up wanting the most. She's over the moon!

Congratulations to all DC with good news coming in!

Hurrah that Somerville came through and congratulations to your daughter, @temperedolive !

CalmConfident · 13/01/2026 10:39

Yes! He’s got the offer 🥳🥳🥳

Wowse · 13/01/2026 10:40

I've only just found you all, DD has an offer for economics and management, hats off to all of your dc who have put everything into their applications it's a brutal process! Now onto planning!

Potimarron · 13/01/2026 11:01

Hi all, I’ve lurked on this thread from the beginning but didn’t want to post in case it tempted fate! So wanted to say thanks for keeping me company through this long process.

It was a no for my son this morning (for English) - feels very flat ant the moment and I’m realising how much both of us had imagined a whole Oxford life for him. He put so much into his application and interviews and I don’t think he could possibly have given it a better shot. He’s at school and sounds ok, I think it’s a relief to have an answer.

I’m mainly just incredibly proud of him. He’s a wonderful chap and I have no doubt that he’s got great adventures ahead.

Congratulations to everyone with offers this morning and commiserations to everyone in the same boat.

mathsapp · 13/01/2026 11:07

Sorry to hear @Potimarron. It’s very tough. I’m sure your DS will have a great time elsewhere. But today is hard.

Oxbridge1 · 13/01/2026 11:07

We also have a rejection here. Oh well.

idontcareabouttennis · 13/01/2026 11:10

@Potimarronthis was us last year - Dd had 3 interviews and was still a no. She was gutted at the time but is now at Durham and having the time of her life (with an awful lot of other Oxbridge rejection friends) and they’re all very happy - so he will be fine, even if it stings a bit now. They can’t take everyone and I think once you’re the interview stage, it’s largely a numbers game. Good luck to him and I hope he has a great time wherever he ends up.

FirstdatesFred · 13/01/2026 11:13

A yes here 😮‍💨
Open offer so some uncertainty there but a small price to pay and only 5 possible colleges

BridgeovertheriverTest · 13/01/2026 11:19

@Oxbridge1 and @Potimarron sorry to hear this, but you are absolutely right to be proud of the journey they have been on so far. There are no bad outcomes for any of these youngsters- they will all have places at great universities and bright futures ahead.

BridgeovertheriverTest · 13/01/2026 11:20

Still no news from DTwins.....

Vargas · 13/01/2026 11:24

Dd has a place at Queen’s. She is ‘surprised but happy’.

Greenleave · 13/01/2026 11:26

Congrats to everyone, my daughter has an offer for maths and Phil with Magdelene, so first choice.

temperedolive · 13/01/2026 11:30

@BridgeovertheriverTest

Thank you very much, and thank you again for all your advice and support during the interview process! I'm certain she's going to have the most marvelous time!

Fingers crossed for your DTwins!

temperedolive · 13/01/2026 11:32

@Potimarron and @Oxbridge1 Sorry to hear it, but just getting to the interview stage is truly quite an achievement! I have no doubt your DC will thrive and achieve great things wherever they choose to go!

Haywire · 13/01/2026 11:35

Offer in from 1st choice college for Physics, she cannot believe it. Sorry for those with not good news

pinkdelight · 13/01/2026 11:52

Really feeling for those who didn't get in, it's so much work to get to this point and big feelings involved even when they're trying to manage them well. Sure the relief will come and they'll go on to great things in places with less pressure.

Congratulations to all those who got good news. Must feel quite surreal and unless its grades in hand/unconditional, I can imagine it soon turns into 'yikes now I have to get those grades' and tension for exams/results, but for now - enjoy the moment!

Still feels like an age until 28th when Cambridge news will be coming through, but this is a helpful glimpse of the ups and downs. So good to have this thread!

CountryShepherd · 13/01/2026 11:55

Not good news this morning. But she has offers from St Andrews, Durham, Exeter and Bristol - so she will be fine. She is not used to rejection though, she is at school and has messaged but it will hit hard. Autistic too, so definitely not wanting to chat it through.

GoodLuckBabe · 13/01/2026 11:58

Offer received for Maths for first choice college - DS is thrilled! I am so pleased for him, he has worked so hard. Thanks for all the advice on this thread.
So tough for those not getting good news. It really is a gruelling process. I hope your young people can move on quickly and focus on their other offers with other just as amazing unis

Nuffalready · 13/01/2026 12:07

No offer for my DS☹️. Trying to be “onwards and upwards” about it all as I know he’ll be fine and happy elsewhere, but it’s still just a hard day!

Sorry to hear, it's never easy to get a rejection. My older ds had a rejection from Cambridge a few years ago and had a very happy time at Durham, and now has a great graduate job. Oxbridge is definitely not the 'be all and end all'.

MonGrainDeSel · 13/01/2026 12:19

Congratulations to all those with offers.

And also a big well done to those who have not got offers too. It is a tough process and they should all be proud of themselves for getting this far. I hope they can manage not to take it too hard and get excited about the other great universities that await them.

TinfoilTangerine · 13/01/2026 12:25

Congratulations to everyone with offers. It was a no for DS. He says he is fine, and even if that is currently just him putting on a brave face, he will be ok. Very proud of him for having tried. Good luck Cambridge people for a couple of weeks time.

gerispringer · 13/01/2026 12:29

Super excited for one of my DGDs whose got her first choice college offer from Oxford. She is an amazing girl who is self motivated and very hardworking. Im sure shed have bern fine wherever she went but in my view they are lucky to get her!
